Pacific Sports Reviews (10)

Pacific sports is promoting the u.S. Triathlon in rockwall, tx for 10/14/18 and the event has been cancelled with never an email sent out. I have not received a refund of $127..I have already sent 5 emails with two phone calls with no response. Never sign up for an event run by pacific sports.

Review: This company has promoted an inaugural triathlon event in Brooklyn NY in 2013 and the event was postponed until the following year. The next year the event was cancelled completely and refunds were promised. I have been receiving assurances and delays by email but have never received my refund. This company has stopped replying to my emails and has acted irresponsibly with my trust.Desired Settlement: A full refund of $250.00 and an apology.

Review: Pacific Sports LLC has attempted to hold a Brooklyn NY triathlon event for the second year in a row. In 2013 they successfully collected an undisclosed amount of registration fees. Prior to the event date, they cancelled it and, according to many on facebook, have not refunded the 2013 fees. Some have been refunded for 2013, but some have not.

Cut to 2014: The event was rescheduled for October 26th 2014. Pacific highlighted several issues during the course of advertisement and correspondence that have been solved since 2013 and the event was geared to go. Sponsors, expo dates, (and even a small meet to review course) all were in place. As October hit, their correspondence waned and people got suspicious. As of this past Monday (6 days before event) they have cancelled yet again.

Here is the ongoing discourse on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrooklynTriathlon

I have emailed them, as have others and a generic response has been sent in return:

"[redacted],

We understand your frustration and will let everyone know when the next steps are finalized. We are doing everything possible to make this unfortunate situation as acceptable as possible for everyone involved."

A day after this (as you can view on facebook) they posted the letter exchanged between PacificSports LLC and the City of New York. While their post is an attempt to sort of say, "look, see, it's not our fault, etc" - The letter in fact, exposes some poor management of [redacted]e on their behalf or exposes what looks like cause for a potential suit (collection of hundreds, er. thousands? of registration fees before permit application).Desired Settlement: An appropriate refund for the many over 2 years that have had amounts collected to them and never returned (including myself!)

Review: Pacific Sports produced a Brooklyn Triathlon that was originally scheduled to take place on 11/10/13. I signed up for this triathlon on 9/9/13 and paid $232.08. On 10/18/13, 3 weeks before the scheduled event, I received an email from Pacific Sports (specifically [redacted], Race Director) stating that the event was postponed until 10/26/14. On 10/25/13 I received another email from Pacific Sports giving racers the choice between a) getting a refund or b) becoming a "Legacy Competitor" by putting the payment towards the 2014 event and getting some extra perks. I chose to be a Legacy Competitor and thus my payment was deferred for a year. Fast forward a year to 10/20/14, 6 days before the scheduled event, I received another email from Pacific Sports saying the event was cancelled due to the event assessment fee being too high. They say "As of today, we do not have enough information to give you on what the next steps will be to unwind the event, but I promise those will come as soon as we have gathered all of the information from ongoing discussions with our sponsors and the City of New York." I email Pacific Sports on 11/26/14, after hearing nothing from them about the "unwinding", and asked if there was an update on the reimbursement for the race. A week later (12/3/2014) I received the following response: "Hi Jodi, We are currently processing refund checks. Please send me the address you would like yours sent to." . Right away I sent them my address, but still received to check in the mail. After a few more back and forths I received this email: "You needed to email your name and mailing address to us by Nov 7th in order to receive your refund. If you have another email proving otherwise I would happy to help get you name on the refund list." I again forwarded them the email saying they would put me on the list but they told me I had to go through the race director (Jack) and gave me his email. I have emailed him 4 times and have gotten no response.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed the $232.08 that I paid in September 2013 for the Brooklyn Triathlon that was postponed and then eventually cancelled.

Review: Pacific Sports, LLC was the organizer of the [redacted] to take place on October 26, 2014 in [redacted], NY. I registered for the event on July 18 2014, paid $219 on my American Express card. On October 20, 6 days before the event was to take place, Pacific Sports unexpectedly cancelled the event for 2014. They posted an announcement on Facebook, not even bothered to send emails and in a long letter, did not even mention how athletes should proceed to obtain a refund. I have sent emails, have posted on their Facebook page, even via Twitter and have never received a status update. I also found out that they have done the exact same thing in 2013 and those athletes also are waiting for their refunds. It is unacceptable that a business continues to operate while withholding refunds for an event that never happened 2 years in a row and providing no customer service to its paying customers.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the $219 I paid.

Review: In Oct of 2014 Pacific Sport cancelled an event they had planned in New York City. The Brooklyn Triathlon was cancelled just 6 days prior to the event date due to mishandling of the permit process by Pacific Sports staff. Forgoing the training and wasted time that went into preparing for a triathlon that never came to be, there is the matter of the $275.00 registration fee. Pacific Sports has assured participatants via email and social media that refund checks have been cut and are being sent out. But we are now 8 months out from the cancellation and still no refunds have been sent. After doing some additional research I found out this is the 2nd year in a row that Pacific Sports has collectied registration fees for the Brooklyn Triathlon and than cancelled the even. The 2014 event was cancelled because Pacific Sports mismanaged the permit process, I dont know wht the 2013 even was cancelled. But this seems to be a pattern of collecting registration fees, and cancelling the event. I dont know if it is an issue of incompetance or dishonesty, but the result for the participants is the same either way.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and to reduce the likelihood of Pacific Sports being able to continue to charge registration fees for events that they do no hold.

Review: I am still waiting for the refund of the entry fee for Brooklyn triathlon 2014, which was cancelled in a last minute. They promised us they would refund the entry fee and I provided all the info they required in a time frame that was provided. I sent a several emails about the refund but I only got a reply for the first email, saying checks have been cut, but getting no replies since then. It's been almost a year I've been waiting for the refund. I did not know where to ask a help regarding this matter, I'm hoping I'm finally getting help from this organization.Desired Settlement: Just want the full refund of $275 asap, and apology for being irresponsible for their customers.

Review: Pacific Sports, LLC was the organizer of the inaugural Brooklyn Triathlon to take place on November 10, 2013 in Brooklyn, NY. I registered for the event in July 2013 and in October, two weeks before the event was to take place, Pacific Sports unexpectedly cancelled the event for 2013 and scheduled a date in October of 2014 for the Brooklyn Triathlon. They offered an opportunity to receive a refund and I promptly filed the proper request form in November for a refund as soon as it became available. I have called the company numerous times and have left multiple voicemails and have never received a status update or a return call from any company representative. On Jan. 14, 2014 I was finally able to get in contact with a representative of the company who could confirm that they received my refund request but could not tell me when a refund would be processed. I was advised to email the CEO, [redacted], and was told that there is no ETA on when my refund would be processed and it is a "money-in-vs.-money-out thing." It appears that this company does not have the cash to refund my registration amount. It has taken me 2 months of diligent phone calls to reach someone and 6 months after I paid the organization there is no clear timetable as to when (or IF) I am entitled to receive my refund. I have had to initiate a fraud investigation with my bank and would not recommend anyone do business with this company for any of its events. I have been more than patient and courteous but it is unacceptable that a business continues to operate while withholding refunds for an event that never happened and providing no customer service to its paying "customers."Desired Settlement: I would like for this matter to be resolved with a refund of my registration amount as soon as possible.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Hello,

Review: I registered for the Brooklyn Triathlon, which this company cancelled just days before the scheduled start. They eventually said that refunds would be processed if registrants submitted emailed requests by a certain date. I did so a month ago. I went to follow up on the status of my refund and saw that the event website and its social media pages, the platforms by which the company had communicated with registrants, had been erased. Please provide my refund now. Thank you.Desired Settlement: Please provide my refund.

Review: Pacific Sports was the Race Director of the 2015 Brooklyn Triathlon in Brooklyn New York, scheduled for October 26th, 2014. On 10/20/14, they announced on their Facebook page that the event would be cancelled based on some questionable and unverifiable reasons. No further communication has gone to any participants regarding refunds or next steps.

It should be noted that Pacif Sports did the exact same thing last year when they sponsored the 2013 Brooklyn Triathlon, which was also cancelled under mysterious circumstances at the last minute. Many participants are still awaiting their refunds and it's becoming increasingly clear that PAcific Sports strategy is to sponsor races without the intent of actually holding them and then keeping the participants non-refundable registration fees.Desired Settlement: I wish to be fully credited for my entry fee and all other associated fees paid to Pacific Sports LLC.
