Thank you for posting your concerns about the lawn that I installed for you a couple of months agoI apologize for not making the remedy for your dying grass more well-defined on my past visits and emailsSo please allow me to pass along the cure againThe maintenance crew that you have hired has not been cutting your Bermuda grass short enoughThe proper height for Bermuda grass to be maintained is about 1" and should be cut at a minimum of one time per week during the growing season (not every other week)In the past the grass was allowed to grow in excess of 4" and doing so caused the spray from the sprinklers to be knocked down (poor sprinkler coverage) and the thatch to become very excessiveThis excess thatch provides a great environment for fungus and insects to thriveIt is possible that you may have a bug infestation in your lawnThis can happen very easily in the summertime during the warm months on any type of grassThe maintenance crew you hired should be watching and making applications of insecticide to combat this situationOne of my employees did apply some insecticide for you on the last visitThe insecticide is not an overnight cure but will over the next week or so kill off the bugs in your lawnIt will take time for the lawn to heal, but will bounce back as it is a Bermuda lawnIt has also been mentioned on the last two visits to keep your irrigation timer turned onThe last two visits it was found to be turned offYou did say that you have been cycling the timer to the on position on a regular basis but it is possible that it might be forgotten to be turned back on I truly believe, as I have seen on all of the other lawns that I have serviced over the years, if these maintenance procedures are followed you will have a beautiful healthy lawn to enjoy all summer longAdditionally, the original lawn size was specified by the homeowner to be square footAfter soil was prepared for this grass it was then requested to increase the lawn sizeThe new size was priced and approved before the additional grass was placedAs of this date, 8-26-16, the grass has been cut back to the proper height and the lawn is beginning to green up once again

[redacted], the property manager for [redacted]’s
property at [redacted]. Did call and ask that the holiday lawn
decorations in the front not be moved. She stated that the tenant’s children had
placed the decorations and when they were moved for the...

lawn service and not
placed back in the exact same position that the children became very upset.
[redacted] asked that the front lawn not be cut until after the Halloween
decorations were removed. We agreed and moved forward.
At the beginning of the month of October, [redacted] requested a
quote to change the services to a bi-monthly service to save some money. She
was sent the quote but never responded with any change of service request. On
October 29,2013 I sent an email asking if there was to be a change
in the maintenance service. I received an e-mail October 30th (see
below) cancelling the lawn service. The home owner was sent an invoice for the
full month.
The final invoice was disputed. The seasonal fertilizing and
two weeks of service. [redacted] told [redacted], my office manager, that she had called
in the cancellation and spoke with a women in the middle of the month. Pacific
Sunscapes has not had a women working in the office answering phones since 1995.
So If [redacted] did call in a cancellation it was to the wrong company. At the end
of this phone call [redacted] agreed to pay the full amount of the invoice and
stated that she would not use our services again.
After reading [redacted]’s complaint it would appear that she has
had second thoughts on paying for the services that were provided. However, as
you will see in the email below, I was not notified until October 30th
to suspend the maintenance service. Therefore the full balance of $220.00 is
due in full.

Good evening,
Thank you for taking the time to chat with me on [redacted]’s
rental property.
Attached Sod Spec’s from Grower, World’s largest sod company.
If we go to Bi-weekly service on a cool season turf, and
this is the best season when cool to grow, we will take more than a 1/3 off
when mowing every 2 weeks, and if Kids play on it, they will crush blades and
cause further damage. Not recommended!.
Bi-weekly service will reduce monthly charge by $50.00, we
will spend longer each trip, playing catchup.
Biweekly works great on desert drought tolerant turf less
landscapes.
I will take and send photos tomorrow.

Thank you for posting your concerns about the lawn that I installed for you a couple of months ago. I apologize for not making the remedy for your dying grass more well-defined on my past visits and emails. So please allow me to pass along the cure again. The maintenance crew that you have hired has...

not been cutting your Bermuda grass short enough. The proper height for Bermuda grass to be maintained is about 1" and should be cut at a minimum of one time per week during the growing season (not every other week). In the past the grass was allowed to grow in excess of 4" and doing so caused the spray from the sprinklers to be knocked down (poor sprinkler coverage) and the thatch to become very excessive. This excess thatch provides a great environment for fungus and insects to thrive. It is possible that you may have a bug infestation in your lawn. This can happen very easily in the summertime during the warm months on any type of grass. The maintenance crew you hired should be watching and making applications of insecticide to combat this situation. One of my employees did apply some insecticide for you on the last visit. The insecticide is not an overnight cure but will over the next week or so kill off the bugs in your lawn. It will take time for the lawn to heal, but will bounce back as it is a Bermuda lawn. It has also been mentioned on the last two visits to keep your irrigation timer turned on. The last two visits it was found to be turned off. You did say that you have been cycling the timer to the on position on a regular basis but it is possible that it might be forgotten to be turned back on.  I truly believe, as I have seen on all of the other lawns that I have serviced over the years, if these maintenance procedures are followed you will have a beautiful healthy lawn to enjoy all summer longAdditionally, the original lawn size was specified by the homeowner to be 1000 square foot. After soil was prepared for this grass it was then requested to increase the lawn size. The new size was priced and approved before the additional grass was placed. As of this date, 8-26-16,  the grass has been cut back to the proper height and the lawn is beginning to green up once again.

Pacific Sunscapes cut the grass to the proper height and the grass grew back. There are two different shades of grass. The sod farm confirmed that the sod had been cut from two fields. Same grass but would have a different shade. Pacific Sunscapes told Mrs. [redacted] that we would remove the original 1000 square foot of sod and replace it for her at no charge. Mrs. [redacted] then wanted to have the sod replaced plus compensation for pain and suffering. Mrs. [redacted] was informed that no additional compensation besides the sod replacement would be provided. Mrs. [redacted] then had a family emergency that put the replacement project on hold. This week Mrs. [redacted] was able to reengage the topic of her lawn and the date of 10-18-16 was scheduled for the replacement of the 1000 square foot of sod was scheduled with no other offers provided.

I had already offered to replace the initial 1000 sq ft of sod. In fact, just prior to the removal and install date I received this email from [redacted]  "Thank you. Before you come on Thursday.  By doing this are you admitting that a mistake was made. That the original sod was flawed. If so, should I have to pay for Pacific Sunscapes' mistake?  I don't believe I should. I think I should be reimbursed an amount for the stress and headaches Pacific Sunscapes has put me through. I know that Pacific Sunscapes agrees with me. Thank you. I then responded "Hello [redacted],No mistake was made other than one batch of sod was slightly different in color. After speaking with sod farm, this happens when they cut from different fields. Which also means that this next batch could be off slightly as well but will eventually with growth it will blend. We have shown that the overall issue with the lawn was a maintenance issue not install, which is the cause of stress and headaches. Our warranty is to replace that section of lawn due to you being unsatisfied with look. No monetary reimbursement will be made. We are working with you to resolve issues, the lawn is healthy and green. Please advise.[redacted] responded that she had an emergency issue within her family. We told her that we would put the project on hold waiting her reply.Pacific Sunscapes has offered to replace the sod with the color differential  but [redacted] has not approved the replacement unless she receives a payoff. The warranty does not provide for reimbursement for pain and suffering for grass not being the proper color. I did however, approve and schedule the 1000 square foot of grass replacement but was told to not do so.

My original offer for the work was $7,135. But because of the lack of a drawing and specifications after the 1000 sq ft was put down. I was in need of $6,097. My total rose to $13,232. Yes, I did suffer stress and cried because. I felt I did my homework by getting three offer. I didn't sign the revised contract. Didn't matter. As stated I would not hired Pacific Sunscapes for $13,232. I would have waited and found another company in my price range of $7,500.  My yard was dug up and the initial sod was put down. I complained but nothing. I know God is teaching me a lesson. To stop and ask Him for guidance. I put my trust in Pacific Sunscapes to treat me with respect and fairly. I'm educated, a retired preschool teacher. I wished they had a mentor for  consumers. .
If they feel in their heart that they treated me honestly. All I ask if they would acknowledge they didn't give me a drawing and they way they did this was to revise the original contract and raised the price. Thank you.
