I ordered a Rem 700 action from PTG for a long-range competition target rifle. Blueprinted, trued, with a custom PTG bolt. About $900. One would expect this to cycle like butter- instead, you have to bang the handle to get it to jump past some kind of internal bind.
I asked PTG what would be wrong and what steps to take. The answer- was that whomever assembled the rifle must do shoddy work.
You don't "assemble" the action, it comes complete. You bed it to the stock (aluminum chassis) and bolt it, set the barrel and adjust the headspace- but there are zero changes to the action. We all know things can go wrong in production, and we all know a competent company has quality control to make sure the defects don't go out the door. Must be different with PTG.
PTG has a "Leadership Department", whose job is apparently just to make sure those things don't come back. They wrote the message; they obviously think all customers are too stupid to know what they are doing.
Worst, most unprofessional response I've ever had from any company anytime.
