For 30 years, I have been referring clients to Stan and Brian. I know they will treat my clients the way I would want to be treated. They recently did some work for me. Once again, I was not disappointed. If you want it done right the first time, these guys really do.

Our experience with Pacific West Roofing went very well and the new roof looks nice. It was helpful to us to be able to see other roofs done by them in the neighborhood, where we could see the actual color we had chosen. The crew worked very hard, some days under extreme warm weather conditions. Clean-up was done every day and disruption was minimal. Management came by regularly to check in with the roofers and us. A very positive experience. – ***.

Pacific West Roofing is a terrific company! I have a tiny construction co. w/ tiny jobs and Pac West gives me the service and quality they do for their biggest accounts. I always have a great experience with them from calling to schedule - to the guys in the field taking care of me.

Bill was roughly $19,000. Bill was $8,600 above that!!! We had substantial rot on our roof, which I specifically and repeatedly told their salesman, Sam, before the bid. Much of the rot was visible from the ground. Sam told me that they would fix it, and that I would only pay extra for additional rot that they found during the job because they couldn't see it until they tore the roof off. But when the bill cam about 2 weeks after the job was completed, the owners said that they put almost nothing in the bid for rot, and the cost for virtually all the wood and rot-related labor were extra-$8,600 extra. The only number I received during the 2 weeks their workers were here was $500 for replacing fascia, and that was only after I repeatedly asked how much it would be to replace all the fascia. Replacing the fascia was optional for me, and I only agreed to it because Same told me it would only be about $500. They are no charging more than $500 for the fascia boards and substantially more for the labor of replacing them. After I refused to pay the $8,600 overage, they cut the bill to an additional $6,700. That's still 35% over their bid. Their contract says that I had to sign for any additional work over the contracted amount. I signed nothing during except the $19,000 bid, and was never given anything showing additional lumber or labor costs. They are refusing to honor that contract term. I liked their actual workers, but this company blindsided me. After the job, they told me that they couldn't rely on Sam anymore, but they expect they expect me to pay for his failure to give me accurate information about the bid, costs, and overruns. They proved very untrustworthy to me.

We explained this early on during the project that all dry rot was on a time and materials which our contract states clearly. Any additional work requested such as adding skylights, adding fascia boards where they didn't exist before, this is where we ask for a signed change order. When this customer was pre-painting the 300+ feet of 2"X8" pre-primed cedar fascia and barge boards, how would this much wood cost $500.00 including the 60 man hours it took to install? Clearly it was this attorneys opportunity to leverage against a verbal quote of fascia which we honored for the gutter fascia boards for $500.00. We cut the charges to cost and she still felt she was wronged. I'm sorry but this was clearly an intentional move by the customer.

The first time my wife and I had Pacific West Roofing remove moss from our roof and treat the shingles, the results were excellent. Every bit of moss was removed and you could never tell that there was any kind of coating on the roof. This was four years ago in Portland, Oregon's rainy climate and it took this long for enough moss to accumulate for another treatment to be necessary.
So because of this, we had Pacific West Roofing give our roof another treatment recently. But this time it was a different story. Apparently there are at least two different types of treatments (?) and unlike the first time around, this time the roof was treated with a zinc coating along the top ridges that dried into a white, irregular, pattern that looks really bad on dark brown shingles. It would seem that we need to wait for rain to slowly dissolve this solidified coating and cover the entire roof. At the beginning of summer, sometimes Portland does not get much rain until autumn. So we could be stuck with this unsightly mess for a while.
To be fair, Pacific West Roofing did respond to our concerns by sending out a crew on two separate occasions afterward to wet down the coating, but it still looks terrible. Since there seems to be more than one procedure available for treating moss on roofs, all I'm asking is for Pacific West Roofing to notify potential customers of the different treatments and what to expect from each one so that we can make an informed choice as to what we want. Whatever was done to our roof four years ago would have been fine with us again if only we had known.

We appreciate your reply to the work and have taken additional steps to make sure customers understand the "what to expect" results. The salesperson should have notified you of these basic conditions and we apologize that that information didn't get to you but there is now a redundancy of information to alleviate this issue so thank you for helping us improve polices.

Always a pleasure to do business with. This is the second roof Pacific West has done for me, and I highly recommend them to others! Good communication, excellent work.

Thank you ***, it's always a pleasure doing business with professionals who understand expect the bold truth about the work being done on their property!

Very impressed with this company. They're very helpful in understanding and arranging our work. Showroom providing good survey of the potential options. Salesman was very helpful. The easy availability of samples really helped our selection of material. When the work began, the workers were well organized very punctual and diligent in getting the job done. they were polite, courteous and very fastidious in cleaning up after their work. Seem to be very efficient with minimum waste of time.

Great roofing and we are very happy all the staff did very well jan law

Thank you *** for your review. Please call us anytime you have questions about future maintenance that we can also help you with.

Very poor workmanship. Very dishonest. Had a leak and ceiling is damaged couldn't fix it in 4 trips and finally fixed almost 2 years since the work is done but refuse to address the damage made in the ceiling. Very deceptive in addressing issues. Inspected the damage and promised to fix it and sent the painter but after painter gave the bid refuse the fix it. So very very dishonest people. Even while replacing the roof they didn't secure the shingles bundle and fell in on the deck and frighten the entire family in the middle of the night. I have thought Matt was a honest man but he went quite after the issue started and the owners are very dishonest. Called many times and no followup for almost a year and finally refused to fix the damage. Two years of painful experience with poorly run company.

After almost 2 years of an excruciatingly painful and frustrating process working with Pacific West Roofing Co including: no shows and numerous pushed out start dates; our roof being completely torn off in the middle of winter and left with only underlayment through 4 snow/ice storms; debris being strewn in our attic like kindling next to our gas furnace; extreme lack of communication or answers to our questions; police called to our house for storage of materials on street without permit, parking heavy duty equipment and cracking our neighbors driveway, not remedying cracked driveway for 8 months; installing gutters on only half of our house; tacking thousands of extras onto our bill after one in a half years of continuous headache without explanation or documentation let alone acknowledgment of the terrible experience they put us through, then fighting us to get every last dime of these “extras” out of us; we feel it is our duty to share our story and warn the public to NEVER hire Pacific West Roofing Co.
Detailed Timeline
• June 2016- we received bid and agree to proceed with project for a SUMMER installation
• Date comes for installation, we rearrange our schedule to move all of our pets out of our house due to the noise and stress of putting on a new roof- no one shows up with no e-mail or phone call to alert us the date has been moved
• Date is pushed out 4 times in favor of other presumably more important projects
• Materials are not ordered properly continuing to delay the timeline
• We communicate with PWRC that we are only comfortable to proceed with installation in the winter if the weather is favorable
• November 2016- PWRC performs a complete tear off of our roof, just before 4 of the biggest snow storms to hit Portland
• Debris from the complete tear off litters our entire attic including on top of our gas furnace system, we have to call to request that they clean this mess up asap due to fire hazard
• Police show up to the project as PWRC is storing materials on the street without a permit
• Roof is left exposed to the elements with only 1/2” plywood and underlayment through 4 ice storms, freezing and thawing multiple times
• Weeks go by without ice or snow when they could have made an effort to complete this project, rather, we wait months and additional snow storms with no roof on our house
• Our heating bill goes up exponentially
• We e-mail and call PWRC with our concerns repeatedly with nothing more then a receptionist saying someone will give us a call… no call
• Without gutters the walkways around our house are covered in inches of sheer ice, our basement tenants with a new born baby, cannot leave their apartment safely
• At this point we realize only half of our house has gutters, and no down spouts
• We have to contact and pay another contractor to finish the gutters and down spouts
• PWRC parks heavy duty equipment in our neighbors driveway to install the roof cap
• Our neighbors inform us this equipment cracked and broke their driveway.
• We are now at risk being sued by our neighbors because of PWRC poor decision making
• When the project is presumably complete, PWRC leaves a stack of materials against our other neighbors house, we have to contact them to come remove the materials
• It takes 8 months of persistent e-mails and phone calls by both us and our neighbors to get PWRC to address and remedy the cracked driveway
• Without fixing the damaged caused to our neighbor’s home or sending us anything in writing that they will fix the problem, a bill shows up for thousands higher then our original bid without any documentation
• To our dismay, PWRC has the audacity to negotiate with us for every last cent, including all the undocumented changes, without any consideration for the terrible experience
• They offer us a couple hundred off the bill for the trouble
• After months of phone calls trying to get a hold of the President of the company, he tells us we ended up with a “good roof” and this is just how construction goes…
• To be done with this nasty nightmare of a situation we are still paying over $2,000 in addition to the original bid just to be done with them
We chose Pacific West Roofing Company because we thought they had a professional reputation, and they were not the least expensive quote we received. We are completely shocked at their treatment and feel incredibly taken advantage of. They did not offer any kind of reasonable financial compensation for their mistakes let alone diminished quality of roofing materials after being exposed to the extreme elements for such a long period of time. We feel gouged by the company after being charged thousands of extra dollars covering their overhead for reluctantly fixing our neighbors driveway. Their service has been extremely unsatisfactory and can be described as unprofessional, incompetent and driven by greed. We strongly urge all considering Pacific West Roofing Co for their roofing projects to reconsider.
