Pack It Away Storage Systems, Inc. Reviews (5)

On 2/*/15 we were hired by Kings and Queens Management to move the contents from [redacted]'s apartment at [redacted] Brooklyn due to an eviction and into our storage facility. On 2/** tenant of records son called claiming items in storage are his, we informed him because the lease was...

in his mothers name we name a notarized letter from her giving us permission to add his name to the account. On 2/** we told the daughter in law the same thing and informed her our facility is closing so we need this asap. On 2/** we received a letter via fax from [redacted] allowing us to add her son to the account however it was not notarized, her son claimed his mother is handicap and is unable to get it notarized, our employee needed to get an exception to our rule. She called the owner and the owner then called the number that was given to us and would except this letter not notarized due to circumstances. On 2/[redacted] was told the charges on the account which at the time were $1000, and would stay at that price until 3/*. On 3/[redacted]'s wife came down wanting invoice we explained to her that only [redacted] 's name was added to account so he has to schedule the pick up and if he came back made payment and scheduled pick up we could discount the fee $200. No one returned back. On 3/* we called customer reminding them of auction on 4/**/15 if account is paid we also faxed over a letter to [redacted].  On 3/**/15 we again faxed letter and invoice. On 3/** we faxed information again. On 3/** we called customer and again offered to discount the amount owed if they would please come and remove their items from storage. Customer began screaming and refused to accept our offer, stated to our employee screw that he should not have to pay anything he did put the items in storage. On 3/** we again faxed over the same documents. On 4/* we left message for customer informing them the items are going to be auctioned to please call us it was urgent. On 4/** we called customer and let them know Monday was last day we can accept payment and schedule the items to be picked up before they are auctioned, customer began cursing said he is not paying anything and hung up on us. We understand he is not in an easy situation but as a company we have rules and regulations we need to follow and apologize that he feels it took so long to get any information. However, we gave this customer more than ample opportunity to retrieve his items from storage. The belongings were auctioned on 4/**/15.

Review: Pack It Away Storage entered my house and removed my belongings on a outdated warrant and failed to return them as the court ordered. Also, a stay was ordered and Pack it Away Storage continue to remove my belongings and refuse to return them back to my residence. This is not the first time Pack It Away Storage has done this and refuse to return my belongings. Last time [redacted] the President and Owner stated that they was no way I could not have own the belongings that was stolen because of my place of residence and stated all he was going to give was $600 for $7594.35 worth of stolen and damaged property that was last seen on his truck. I paid NYCHA $2500 and then had to give Pack It Away another $1000 plus $600 for moving the belongings back to my property. I was told by both Pack It Away and NYC [redacted] that they would return my property to my home if I was to pay the balance of $1500; which I did and to date I have yet to receive my property. All my furniture was removed and they left my queens size leather pull out couch from [redacted] after they broke it cause they couldn't fit it out the door. They took the pillow and the seat to it and left the base. Please note I was never evicted for them to remove my property. My family was left in the house and they took all my belongings. I have it all on video from beginning to the end. I made several attempt to get this resolved. I have a complaint in with the Department of Investigation and Attorney General office. My bank has informed me that several fraudulent activity has taken place on my card and use of my credit info using my bank card social and birth certificate that's suppose to be locked up with my belongings. I tried for the past year to get help or a response and all I hear is we could make arrangement to get your stuff back even with the stay as I said they was still moving my belongings out of my apartment.Desired Settlement: Return my belongings to my residence the same way they took it out. Also, repair or replace my couch and other damages.

Response:

We are willing to help [redacted] as we have been doing all along. Please hear our facts on what has occurred. On 11-**-12 City [redacted] evicted [redacted] and hired us to move the items into our storage facility. The items are in two units with a monthly rent of $400. There is also a warehouse handling fee that is charged one time for labor to move the items out of the storage rooms and down to the loading dock.

On 1/**/13 [redacted] paid $800 and we agreed to waive $400 so she can pick up her belongings. She signed a pick up agreement to pick up on 2/*/13 authorizing [redacted] to pick up. Customer did not show for pick up and the items were moved back into the storage units, with another warehouse handling charge applied.

On 7/**/13 City Marshal [redacted] asked me to help the tenant as he has been asked to do so by the DOI. We agreed he would pay $1200, the customer would pay $300, and I would waive another $400 along with provide free delivery if the payment was made by 7/**/13 The customers was told by the Marshal and us to pick up the $1200 from the Marshal and bring it to our office before this date to get this deal done. The customer did not pick up the check until 7/**/13 and held it until 8/**/13 before bringing it to our office. This totally killed the deal as another full month of rent was billed. At that time she did not have her $300 that she was supposed to pay or any other money.

We have tried twice to work with [redacted]. Currently she has a balance of $2000 that will stay at that amount until 12/**/13. We are willing to make one last attempt at a deal. We will waive the current balance and allow [redacted] to schedule a pick up to remove all her belongings before 12/**/13 as long as she agrees to sign and notorize a waiver holding Pack It Away Storage Systems Inc harmless from any lawsuit. Please let me know if you want to make this agreement so I can prepare this agreement in writing before you are ready to come to our office. You can email me or call me in the office.

Sincerely,

President

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Not Resolved as agreed. I have voice recording that will prove that I did pay them not only the $300 but another $1200 outside of the City Marshal wrongful proceeding payoff that I never cashed to this day. I will proceed with a court hearing due to the fact that this is the 3rd time that this was done to me by NYCHA<CITY MARSHAL< PACK IT AWAY STORAGE.

Please reopen.

Response:

I looked into the current status of [redacted]'s storage account. She currently has a balance of $2800.00 that will remain at that price until February [redacted],2014. [redacted]'s items are scheduled for auction on March [redacted],2014 due to nonpayment. The last contact with [redacted] was on December [redacted],2013 she asked how much would it cost for us to redeliver her items to her. Again we would like to see [redacted] obtain her items from storage, so we are willing to waive her current balance of $2800.00 as long as she agrees to sign and notarize a waiver holding Pack It Away Storage Systems Inc. harmless from any lawsuit. This needs to be done before February [redacted], 2014, as that is when another months fees will go into effect. If [redacted] would like for us to redeliver her items back to [redacted] the cost would be $700. Please have her let us know that as soon as possible. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I find it strange that you say in a very condescending message that you did nothing wrong, but yet you want me to sign a waiver. If you follow the proper eviction procedures and follow all the rules and regulations you wouldnt worry about being sued. The fact that you need me to sign said document lead me to believe that you know you did wrong and now your trying to cover your unethical business. I think you and your staff should take a course in the proper procedures of an eviction or maybe you know what your doing and prey upon the poor and unknowingly leaving them to a losing battle. I think you know what your doing to people and dont respect the judgement of the court and feel that you are the final say. I find this very interesting not to mention the way your company try to degrade peoole and feel that what you did was right. So you did nothing wrong but need me to sign a waiver and you want me to pay you to return the belonging back to the location your hired staff stole it from. I will pick up your waiver and have my lawyer review it and take it from there. Either way in suggest that you return my belongings before the [redacted]. I would like for this to end because a legal battle for you will cost much more than the return of ALLLLLLLLL my property. So make sure you let your staff member know that I can count for every item in every box. Nothing shall be missing or damaged. Also, I would like a copy of the sign agreement with both your company and the Marshal office because Im not aware of any agreement or deals that I signed. You also stated I never gave you any money except 800 dollars please includeyour ledger.

Review: my property was place in this storage company by NYCHA due to my eviction from Kingsborough houses. I was present during the eviction and told that I could not be involve with the packing of my belongings. one of the employees of pack it away storage inform me that my property would be move into their units and I would have to pay before I cant get any of my items and that NYCHA will be paying the first month bill for me. unfortunately the invoice does not reflect this and now they are giving me a problem with collecting my items. HRA HASA program will not assist me with the payment because the invoice does not show accurate itemizing of what is to be paid. on may** pack it away storage system inc. moved my belongings, on june**, my invoice they fax to me shows payment due even though claim NYCHA paid this already, if june payment is not received july balance will reflect a balance of 1200.00 due, and if july payment is not received by july **. on august [redacted] my property with be auctioned off.Desired Settlement: im inquiring assistance from the bob to help me settle this matter by proof of payment received and by whom, proof of payment do and itemized with explanation, rule and procedures about storage, packing and moving?

Response:

[redacted] was evicted by her landlord on 5/**/13 from [redacted]. We were the moving and storage company hired by her landlord. When we arrive with the NYC Marshal the tenants are asked to collect important documents and personal effects and then to vacate the premise as they were already notified of this eviction 72 hours prior by the City Marshal. Then we take an inventory of the apartment and begin packing up the contents. We do not take some things from the apartment as they are either not fit for storage or pend a health risk. Once the apartment is packed and loaded on the truck we take the items into our storage facility. The landlord pays for the first 30 days of storage but the customer is responsible to pay for the warehouse handling fee, this fee is because for insurance purposes only employees are allowed in our storage facility and when the customer schedules a pick up, we bring all contents from storage to a loading dock area where the customer removes their items. After 30 days then the customer becomes responsible for storage fees. A notice is mailed to the customer at their last known address unless they supply us with a current address notifying them that their items are in storage and if they do not make payment or contact us we will auction their items after 90 days. We also inform all this information to the customer each time they call our facility. [redacted] was informed this information on 6/*/13 and we also faxed to her an invoice with her current charges. On 6/**/13 we then informed all the charges to [redacted]'s social worker. Below is a breakdown of the charges and information :

5/**/13-6/**/13 rent is $0

5/**/13 Whse Handling Fee $600 ( 3 storage units furniture plus 30 dishpack ctns)

6/**/13-7/**/13 rent $600

Total currently due is $1200 if no payment is made on this account the items are scheduled to be auctioned 8/**/13

Her rent will go up again on 7/**/13 another $600

I hope this answers [redacted]'s questions. Thank you.

Response:

We have already previously responded to the complaint but I just wanted to highlight on the fact that our employees at the move told [redacted] that she would have to pay before removing her items from storage. I have spoken to HRA and informed them of her current charges and did notify them that we can work with [redacted] on the fees if she plans on removing them very shortly, he then informed me that he will not pay anything and that he will inform his client [redacted] to submit a complaint to the Revdex.com, the DOCA and to find legal aid. The warehouse handling fee can not be waived as NYCHA does not pay for this they only pay for the move and the first 30 days of storage, as which [redacted]'s invoice does in fact reflect. However her rent has gone into effect because it has gone beyond thirty days. We can prorate the rent fees depending on when she makes payment and schedules a pick up. We receive payment from HRA social services on a daily basis, we have never experienced them refusing to pay on behalf of their client. We hope to be able to resolve this matter with [redacted] as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Review: my family were recently evicted from our premises and we were never handed any information from the movers no contract no signatures no anything we were told that our landlords would provide the info and of course they did not except for a phone number

aftery er a 3 week battle to just be able to speak them because lease was under my mothers name (same last name)

we were told it would cost 1200 to pick our memories and furniture stuff that we already paid for . after 2 more weeks we were told it would cost 2000 dollars. I have a family of 5 and the cost of sudden move and new apartment as you could imajine was very costly. all we were asking was to pick up OUR stuff at a reasonable price or a little above but we were instead treating with hostilities and being talked down too and they made a bad situiation worseDesired Settlement: all I want is my personal property and my memories of my life and kids life back and I am willing to pay a proper monthly fee.

Review: In Jan. of 2012, I was evicted from my home. Pack it away storage were used by my housing manager. upon their arrival they told me they would pack everything in boxes and put it in there storage facility. I have the man from pack it away on video telling me this. The Marshals took an inventory of everything I wanted to take, I showed him and them exactly what I wanted to take. They were charging me $200.00 dollars a month to hold my things. My stuff was there for a little over six months. I was told everything would be packed. I had packed 13 boxes on my own , and 6 heavy duty bags of my clothes, before they had arrived. I showed them these things and said these things go to storage. When I went to pick up my things, they had not packed anything from my house, even the boxes I packed were not there. My inventory sheet from the marshals doesn't match what they have. They left everything in my house. I lost everything! From my washing machine, to my clothes, pictures,my daughters things, family heirlooms, sheet pillows, beds, furniture, coats, shoes, me and my daughters entire wardrobe, jewelry, laptop, I mean everything. I attempted to contact them, I was told to send a full description of everything that was lost due to them, I even rented a big u-haul truck and I had nothing to pick up. This was 12 years of my life in that apartment and they managed to leave everything. They offered me $300.00 dollars, I was insulted, and denied it. I haven't heard back since. I'm devastated, I can never replace these things they lost. They had no care when it came to my things. They even broke something in front of me, they was just tossing my things, when I got upset I was told to gather some things and vacate the apt.Desired Settlement: The things they lost were priceless. I would like them to Replace and refund all my money from the storage fees, to the u-haul truck fee, and all my things they didn't pack.

Response:

[redacted] submitted a complaint to our facility and it was looked into. We have pictures of the apartment when we entered before we began moving, we have a copy of the Marshal's inventory, and we took an inventory as well. [redacted] and her family were home when we arrived for the eviction, they were taking items and putting them into the hallway. The Marshal informed her at the eviction we would not take any bags. The apartment was in disarray when we arrived to do the eviction and was infested with cockroaches. We took into storage the items that were fit for our storage facility and those items were returned to [redacted]. The washer/dryer unit was left in the apartment as it was unable to be moved, we were told to leave it by the Marshal as well as the NYCHA Management. We did offer [redacted] a settlement for her claim of $300 as a courtesy, that offer still remains valid. Please have her contact us to set up a date to pick up a check and sign a release. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

They are lying. No one was taking pictures, I was recording things with my cell phone. I never moved any boxes to the hallway for them. My house was not in disarray, it was packed because I new the marshal's where coming. My house was not roach infested. I have a daughter and a granddaughter, what I look like having a dirty home with children there. I had my house packed and ready to go. Their inventory sheet doesn't match the marshals because they didn't take an inventory. They never said they were leaving my machine. My nineteen yr old daughter was there and so was her father. they are my witnesses to what happened. I would also like to see these so called pictures. I know for a fact they didn't take pictures, the person who is stating these lies was not even there to know for a fact what happened. I'm sick to my stomach with the lies and misleading of what this company has done to me and my family. I lost everything! They act like they are not responsible for this happening. They told me I could not stay and wait around and to leave, I was upset so I left thinking they were going to do what they said which was pack everything. Their offer of three hundred dollars is insulting. I can't replace anything with that. There is really something wrong with this company and I am appalled by their actions.
