isvery soft in order to generate high amounts of spinThis also means that the rubber is easilydamaged if contacting the table or another surface, or even sometimes in removing thepaddle from a caseIt is a cosmetic issue and one that will not affect the way the paddleplays.Some rubbers are more prone to chipping than others, and certain playing styles are morelikely to result in contact with the table, but all rubbers will chip around the edges regardlessof quality or price.What the customer experienced is and not a quality issue with the productHe wouldhave the same issue with a replacement item or even a substitute product.Please feel free to contact us with any further qestions
