Dear Madam:As follows is a response to the complaint against our business with an ID of [redacted].When [redacted] came to Paige Equipment, he made it seem that he was genuinelyinterested in purchasing a [redacted] lawn mower from us. He had been in numerous times to shop beforeRob V[redacted] suggested...

applying for credit to see if he qualified for Zero down Zero interest for 48 monthfinancing. [redacted] did express some trepidation as to the outcome of the credit check because he knew hehas a high debt to income ratio, but thought it was worth checking because he has very good credit.[redacted] asked Rob how this application for credit would reflect on his credit report, and Rob explained thatprevious customers had let us know that it showed up as a credit card style "soft pull". At this timelicense information and his social security number were given as they are needed to fill out the onlinecredit application. The credit application is printed out, signed and then submitted. At no time was[redacted] "told lies". There is no advantage to us to get a customer approved for credit if he chooses not toactivate the account and make a purchase. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to the customer touse the credit if approved.Rob keeps up to date on his Financing Essentials Certification, and we have passed all spotchecks performed by our financing companies. We have been serving our community in the Lawn &Garden and Ag market since 1998 and have never had our sales department accused of deceptivepractices. In no way did we lie, trick, or falsely represent in the credit application process with [redacted]. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.   As I stated earlier,  when I met with Rob V[redacted] regarding their mowers I told him that the units might be out of my price range and getting a loan might be difficult anyways due to my high debt to income ratio.  I also told him that I'm very particular about my credit score and try to maintain the highest score possible and that I did not want to apply for a loan because that would cause my score to drop.  Rob said that he could run my credit as a "soft pull" and to just check my credit worthiness and all he needed was my driver's  license and my social security number,.  He did not have me sign any paperwork ahead of time for this and this was all verbal.  I gave him my name and social security number.  He did whatever he needed to do with that, and told then told me that I was approved for $10,300.  He then asked me if I wanted to take home a mower today (by the way, I think he did this just to move the sale along....His strategy might have been: [redacted] now has a loan and now we can get him to buy) and I told him no. I asked him how long this credit check was good for because I did not want to do a "soft pull" again and he said it was good for 30 days.  Rob then took out a piece of paper and said "Sign Here....This is your having giving us authorization to do a credit checK" and so I signed the form which he took back.  I asked him for a copy and he took it back out of his paper work and made me a copy.  I put it  in my folder and did not look at it until I received the credit card/loan in the mail for $10,300.  I then left Rob a message on why I now have a loan.  He did not call me back.  I then made a compliant to Revdex.com.  Ron left a message on my answering machine on 08-25-17 in response to this compliant.  That message is attached.  In that voice message, he still maintains I did not open an account......
