We disagree with [redacted]s entire account. We have never claimed incorrect insurance participation. In fact it is public information. He can obtain it from his insurance. We post it on our website. [redacted] was referred to us from an in-network physician because the desired injection would have...

cost him $1600 as co-insurance. We offered to do it for $800 and he agreed. We were very clear about insurance coverage. As far as his deductible, he has in-network and out-of-network deductibles. His claim that he thought the payment he made in our office was going towards his in-network deductible does not make sense. His in-network deductible was met before he came to the office. He spoke with more than one employee including the office manager before coming to our office. Does it make sense that all of them are not clear about the insurance coverage. He called our office later asking that we reprocess his claim under a different doctor who is in network. We had a problem with this for three reasons. 1- He was referred to see Dr. E[redacted] and Dr. E[redacted] was the provider who saw him and performed the injection ( Dr. E[redacted] in out-of-network) with his insurance. We were very clear with [redacted] about this and he agreed because we were the cheaper option for him. 2- Dr. K*, who he wants the claim to be processed under, did not see him. You would ask why didn't we have Dr. K* see him instead of Dr. E[redacted]. Dr. K* was not in the country when he came in. 3-We cannot claim that Dr. K* saw him and bill accordingly. This is called insurance fraud. When he called our office, we explained this to him several times. Dr. E[redacted] spoke with him for 60 minutes on two separate occasions about this. By the time he called the office, his insurance has issued the explanation of benefits. It shows that he still owes us $323.66. We told him that we will waive it if it is financial burden o for him. He responded that the $800 is the price agreed on. We told him that if that is the case, why would he be asking for a refund? In short,1 We were clear about the coverage and cost.2 He agreed to the charge.3 His deductible was met before coming to our office.4 He is asking us to commit insurance fraud.5 Insurance coverage is public information available online in many place and we provide and confirm it before patients make an appointment. 6 He still owes us $323.66. This is still cheaper than what he would have paid for the same injection with his in-network referring physician at NYU.
