The patient canceled two appointments with less than 24 hr notice. The patient signed an agreement when she became a patient, that there is a $40.00 charge for all appointments that are not canceled without 24 hour notice.

Appointment was cancelled the day before the appointment. As for the agreement, I never signed any firm if an agreement for my 2 kids.

I am being charged this cancellation fee for I cancelled the day before the appointment which was on a Sunday. The office manager the next morning has the responsibility of listening to the messages and cancelling/rescheduling as needed. Further I received this text message from the dental office on the day of the cancelled appointments:

In addition, the individual I spoke with a week ago did not make mention of the cancellation fee being standard practice but that they did not have time to call and schedule in other appointments for that date and time slot.

We have all patients read and sign an agreement that if the patient cancels an appointment without 24 hours notice, there will be a $40 per appointment charge for a failed appointment. This is a standard protocol in professional offices.
