Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/06/19) */
Dear Ms. [redacted],
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to my side of this complaint. The scope of the work, as described by Ms. [redacted], is accurate and I do not dispute that. The details of what transpired is inaccurate.
1. I...

repeatedly advised Ms. [redacted] that I would finish the job myself but she insisted on canceling any further work needed. I felt I would complete it professionally and satisfactorily as my employee did not meet both Ms. [redacted]'s and my expectations. I would still like to complete the work, and feel this is the best option for both. It's not clear, as I read the complaint, if she is asking for the completion of the job to be done without cost?
2. As far as the "standard 50% deposit" not being standard, it is a common practice in the industry. Bigger projects also include progress billings before the final completion of the work. I have always used this practice, as it enables me to purchase all the supply and materials and it validates the signed proposal that authorizes the commencement of the job. Not only that, this complaint just shows that if I had not received that initial deposit I would now be stuck with an even bigger expense that would have included all material purchases.
3. As far as her statement that my employee was fired for stealing her paint sprayer, the employee was terminated for not showing up for work and not calling in for 3 consecutive days. In addition, Ms. [redacted] hired this employee on her own AND on my clock, after advising her to go through me for any additional work needed. She had taken my employee off his responsibility to the agreed job of painting, and instead had him repair her screens. She was advised repeatedly not to do that. She also provided this employee with the paint sprayer that he "allegedly" took. All of this was coordinated without my knowledge. Once I found out about it, I brought it to her attention again. This employee was paid by me for work that he was supposed to complete but didn't, and then was paid again by Ms. [redacted] for her "side job".
4. As far as the lack of communication, I advised Ms. [redacted] that my email ([redacted]) was hacked into and deactivated. I contacted Yahoo several times to get this resolved. The Yahoo incident reference number is #[redacted] and had taken 2 weeks (and hours on the phone) to reactivate my email account. Regarding the unreturned phone calls, I informed Ms. [redacted] that I was on the Big Island and reception was sporadic.
I appreciate any concerns Ms. [redacted] and would like to work on a resolution. Thank you.
Sincerely,
[redacted] Contracting

Business Response /* (4000, 29, 2014/07/25) */
Per the Revdex.com letter to me dated, 7/15/14, it stated that I needed to respond by 7/25/2014 and so here is my response: I had completed approximately 95% of the job of which that initial deposit of $650 partially covered, and purchased supplies for her house at an additional expense of more than $600. Not only did I repeatedly recommend that I (not any employee)finish the job, I advised her that it would only take me a day to complete. She refused and demanded her deposit. Ms. [redacted] owes me an additional payment to cover the balance of the work, less 5% of the incompleted part of the job. It seems that she filed a complaint near the completion of the job and is looking to get compensated so that the work done would be done for (almost) free. I am requesting that Ms. [redacted] pay me the balance of the proposal, less 5%.
Consumer Response /* (3000, 47, 2014/09/04) */
I find Mr. [redacted]'s response unsatisfactory and inaccurate. I am again requesting that my deposit of $650 be returned as soon as possible.
