Palmers Kitchen Bath & Beyond Reviews (5)

I am [redacted], I own and operate Palmer’s Kitchen, Bath & Beyond. I would like to address the complaint on the [redacted] project. First of all we got the [redacted] project as a referral from a very loyal client in [redacted]. We have remodeled both of her bathrooms and...

she loves our work . I met [redacted] in June and wrote up a proposal for her Master Bath remodel. [redacted] is a very frail older lady with severe breathing problems. I felt at this point in time that beside her ill heath, that she may want the help of a relative to be able to move forward. I asked [redacted] if she had a son or daughter that we could call and run through the project with. She said she had a daughter but was not at all interested in calling her….. It seemed that they may be estranged. [redacted] said she was very capable of managing her own affairs and she seemed put off that I asked. We both signed the contract to move forward. She also added more work in the Master Bath and also added work in the Hall Bathroom.

We started the work and things were progressing well. I then received a call from my Superintendent [redacted]. He said that [redacted] must have a memory issue because she was changing some of the work from what the contract stated. I told [redacted] that I would come back out and talk with [redacted]. I went out to her home and she introduced me to her daughter [redacted]. I really was taken back because of what I earlier talked about. Now [redacted] began to talk about the work schedule and also the price. I told her that [redacted] had already accepted the price. [redacted] said that her husband was a General Contractor and did not charge what I charged. I asked why he was not doing his mother in law’s work and she said he was a Union Man and could not work in [redacted]. I started realizing that [redacted] was looking for a price break only. I offered her $600.00 off the total project which seemed to make both of them happy. I told [redacted] to keep the project moving and get it done. I found out later that [redacted] was her care giver and she was playing the part of [redacted]’s daughter. “Sneaky Huh!”

At the end of the project, [redacted] called me and said we needed to meet out at [redacted]’s home again because she wanted to change the position of the fold down seat in the shower because it was too high. [redacted] said he put the fold down seat exactly where she told him to put it the day before. I met him there and [redacted] and I spent an hour with [redacted] to make sure that if we moved this seat again that it was just where she wanted it. [redacted] agreed to the positioning. I told her that we would be filling the previous holes in the wall with Silicone caulking and that they would show. She said she was “OK” with that as long as it was water tight. I assured her that it would be. We repositioned the seat and finished both bathrooms and collected the final payment. I thought that we were finished…..

A few days passed and I received a call from a lady that was in front of the [redacted] Homeowners Office in [redacted]. She said that she was [redacted]’s daughter. I said, “[redacted], What’s up?.” She said  I am not [redacted] is my mother’s care giver. I said that I had met [redacted] and [redacted] and who are you really. The woman said that she was [redacted]’s only daughter and that I had better start paying attention to what she had to say. At this point she was yelling at me. She said that she had just flown into town and that she was going to force us to finish her mother’s job today. I said we are already finished. She said, ”There are patched holes in the shower wall.” I said yes we had to move the fold down seat lower and that I had received permission to silicone the holes from her mother [redacted]. She continued to threaten and yell about this situation and when she stopped yelling and threatening me. She then hung up on me.

In conclusion, I would like to say that my remodel team and myself bent over backwards to meet [redacted]’s expectations. I believe she tried to pull one over on me with her caregiver. I feel that I was wronged personally and my company is being wronged with the Revdex.com , [redacted] & [redacted] complaints because of this. Also I am not sure who the person was that called me that day and yelled at me. I assume it was [redacted]’s daughter. She probably filled out the paperwork for the above agencies and had her mother sign off.  I also believe she was emotionally hurt that her mother did not want to involve her in the project and was going to get her pound of flesh out of me and my company for that reason.

Palmers has completed 2 bathroom remodeling projects for us in the past year. Both were done on time and within budget. Workers were prompt and trustworthy. They cleaned up each day after working. [redacted] and [redacted] gave helpful recommendations throughout. Would give [redacted] and Palmer's a strong recommendation.

Review: There are four problems with the bathroom remodel for [redacted] who has a severe disability.

1) Client asked for a longer shower hose so she could reach behind her when seated on shower bench. She did not receive this.

2) Shower bench was initially installed too high for client sit on -- her feet didn't touch the shower floor.

3) Bench was lowered to proper hight leaving 6 big holes in the cultured marble shower wall visible at location where shower bench was previously attached.

4) [redacted] bar next to bench is situated such that the bench cannot be lifted up into a upright position against the back shower walDesired Settlement: Fix all of the above:

1) longer shower hose

2) repair holes so that are not visible. The repair must fit in aesthetically with the shower wall.

3) move the [redacted] hand hold so that it is still available sit assist client with stability but is not in the way of the shower seat being upright

4) whatever damage is done to the cultured marble in ma[redacted] this repair must be completely and cosmetically compatible with the cultured shower wall to which the [redacted] bar is attached.

From: [redacted]. [redacted]

I am aware you blocked the payment of our insurance money from our mortgage company by your partial release. You will never see any more money from me. We are adding that loss to the claim that we are filing with the [redacted] as noted in my 08/08/13 Breach of Contract (attached). This is my formal notification that I am filing a Complaint with the [redacted] for our losses and requesting that they REVOKE your contractor's license.

Palmers Kitchen, Bath & Beyond made many mistakes and failed to complete the agreed 06/28/13 contract. You broke your own contract with excessive delays, poor workmanship, poor quality materials, unauthorized contract changes, threats made, and the fact that your contractor’s license was suspended by [redacted] on 07/31/13. This is all being documented in our complaint.

We just finished the 08/08/13 [redacted] Report Documentation (attached) for the [redacted]. The [redacted] of [redacted] informed me you have many unresolved complaints. [redacted] no longer recommends you because of to many unresolved complaints. You have destroyed your business and your father's reputation. You are a dangerous contractor that does poor work with frightening threats that should be closed by the [redacted].

Do not contact my family in any way because I will have you or [redacted] arrested.

Sincerely,

[redacted]. [redacted]
