After getting 5 quotes, that were all very near each other in price, we decided to use Mr. Electric to remove the knob and tube wiring and bring our 100 year old character home up to current Electrical code. The Revdex.com rating of A+, company history and feedback from neighbors who used Mr. Electric greatly influenced our decision to use this company. Additional factors in choosing Mr. Electric over other companies was our face to face discussions with the owner, Chuck, whose mandate is to keep the customer happy (service) to ensure you get what you want out of the electrical upgrade, the extensive clean up the crew performs each day and the initial patching of holes.

Now that the 3 week project is complete, and it is extensive, all I can say is we had fantastic service and the job was excellent. The lead electrician, Tristan, has an adept skill base as a quality electrician as well as a specialist in knob and tube removal. Most holes in the ceiling were mapped out ahead of time and offset with smoke/Co2 alarms that required minimal patching. For a 2600 sq ft house with over 70 receptacles replaced and 8 smoke/Co2 detectors we probably had a total of 15 holes made with the initial patch provided by Mr. Electric that did the trick. In some cases you can't even notice the holes.

The crew cleaned up really well with minimal impact to our family of four (as we were at work/school each day). The crew wore indoor shoes, moved and replaced furniture, used numerous drop mats, covered key areas with plastic and as needed wiped down items before putting them back. They were so good that most days you would never even know that they were in the house doing any work.

This is an expensive project to get done (with any contractor) but overall we are very happy with the significant upgrades to our home, insurability of the house and most of all the peace of mind of added safety. Our experience with Mr. Electric to remove our knob and tube and bring our house up to code for us is a 5 out of 5.
