Pal's Power Washing Reviews (12)

Yesterday Jul 11th 2014 I contacted the Home Owner [redacted] and asked if we could stop over on Saturday morning to take care of the 2 missing shingles. We arrived Sat morning at 8:30 am and met him at the door. [redacted] handed me the 2 missing shingles and I proceeded to Lowes Home Improvement Center to purchase the shingles. We arrived back at his house at approx 9:30am and I set the ladder against the house and he ([redacted]) and my assistant went on the roof. The job was completed within 5 minutes. We shook hands and went about our business.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I was notified on Monday (6/9) by the contractor that another...

contractor (roofer) would come out on Monday (6/9) to inspect the roof and get an estimate. The contractor has not come out as I was expecting them on Monday. I still have not heard anything on this issue. Also just to clarify, the damage was done to a few shingles, not just one, as stated by the contractor.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is acceptable. However, I do disagree with many of the statements Kevin Palladio outlined in his response.
Sincerely,
Mary Baraiolo

I received a phone call from [redacted] on 2-19-2015 and she stated that there was water dripping into a bedroom because of the snow and ice damming on the roof. She stated on the phone that this was an Emergency as water was dripping. I said that I would stop by after doing...

another job in the area. Once at her residence I introduced myself and she invited me in the look at the bedroom ceiling to see where the water was dripping from. She also stated that the ceiling over the kitchen sink also leaked. We walked out to the back door to access the situation. There were two separate roofs that contained snow and ice dams. The ice dams measured 8' long by 16" wide. The house had no gutters and the way the rear roof was sloped all the water that would normally run off was hampered by the ice dams. I quoted the price at $1400, (reduced to $1350 after $50 discount coupon) to remove the snow from the rear and use a combination of Calcium Chloride (200 lbs) and a chisel to carefully remove the ice. All the snow that was shoveled off the roof was also shoveled off the driveway. My team consisted of myself and four others and we were at the house for close to three hours. So 5 guys working straight for 3 hours equals 15 hours of work. The ice and snow was completely removed from the areas of concern that was written on the contract and signed by both parties . I don't believe the issue is with the workmanship but with the price, but please realize this is hard work working outside in the bitter cold, high winds, dangerous working on a roof. I have been doing ice dams for close to 10 years and this is the first time I have ever received a filed complaint.

I have contacted another Revdex.com Roofing Contractor to take a look at the missing shingle to replace back on the roof.

As far as I'm concerned the matter is closed.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: How did I know I was going to be paying 5 people for one job. While they were outside chopping at the ice I noticed that one man was chopping while the others watched; why should I pay the other 4 for being on such a long break. Everyone I talked to about it said for that kind of money the whole roof should have been shoveled also, and that next time they would do it for a third of that price. I recently roof racked after the 2 storm we've had since and I found that not all the ice was removed.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

As a Business Person in Good Faith I will reimburse Mary Barailo in full as she is not happy with the end result. In doing so I would like to point out a few items.
1. Attached is a copy of the contract
2. On Apr 3, 2014 I submitted a bid package to Mary and she did...

call and we arranged a date for me to come and do the job.
3. The quote for House Washing reads we will remove all mold and mildew. In which we did. This house is loaded with Artillery / Shotgun Fungas.

    a. Artillery Fungas are tiny black specs appearing on house siding, decks, windows, gutters. Artillery Fungas develops in organic mulch and other organic materials, and is usually a greater problem in the the spring and fall when conditions are cool and moist and the temperatures are 50 -70 degrees. If left untreated it is impossible to remove.
    b. Sometimes when washing a house water may get into the vinyl siding air inlet or water gets trapped behind the shutters and after a few hours a few drips may appear but they are easily brushed away.
    c. Gutters - Quote reads the gutters are hand brushed to remove dirt and tiger stripes caused by acid rain. Gutters will look new again. As we were washing the gutters the dirt came off but in some areas the oxidation was so strong it had changed the color of the gutter from white to almost black. If looking at the gutters it would appear that they are dirty but in fact it's just too much oxidation. The contract doesn't say anything about cleaning the inside of the gutters, in fact when I applied the first soaping of the roof wash we cleaned the gutters at no charge.
     d. Roof Washing - Proper Roof Washing doesn't happen overnight. A roof soap is sprayed on the entire roof. Enough solution is sprayed so the Black Streaks, Green Moss, Green Lichen turns White. When the moss and lichen turns white in color, it is considered dead. If done properly we let mother nature do the rest. The sun dries out the moss and lichen and the rain washes everything away, otherwise if someone is on your roof spraying they are removing the shingle granules and voiding the roof warranty. Mary is correct and I am at fault for not going back to check on the roof.
     e. Also at no charge we cleaned the dirt and mildew from the concrete steps and front walkway.
On 4-18-2014, I received a partial payment in the amount of $200.00 by check# 866.

Review: Our roof was leaking due to the heavy amount of snow on it. We submitted a request on a website for contractors to contact us and Pals Power Washing was the first to call back so naturally you reward the quick response. They came over a few hours later and inspected the situation. After realizing our roof was already leaking into the ceiling, he immediately said it will be about $1,400. Not knowing the typical pricing of this job, I accepted due to the immediate need for the service. They worked for about 2 hours and did not even clear off the whole roof, only 2 corners.

After the job was completed, I talked about the job with many people I knew and they all said I was absolutely ripped off and taken advantage of. Many other companies suggested filing a report with the Revdex.com and thus that is what I am doing now.Desired Settlement: I think it is very bad on their part to take advantage of our situation and outrageously charge us. I have since talked to numerous other contractors who perform the same services and they have ALL said they would charge about $500-600 for the service and they would also do the WHOLE roof, not just 1/4 of it. I would love to be partially refunded or at the very least have them disciplined for this deceitful actions.

Review: I contracted with Pals Power Washing to remove snow from my roof this past winter. I noticed in March there were a few roof shingles on the ground in front of my house. I check on my roof and noticed that some roof shingles were damaged and torn off from the other shingles that was caused by the large shovel that was used to get the snow off my roof. This was in a small area over my veranda so they would need to maneuver the large shovel to work in this area. I called [redacted], who I think is the owner, and he promised to fix the issue immediately. I had to call him two more times each month because he never came out to repair the roof. Each time he said that he would be out to fix the roof. As of today he has not called me back or been out to repair the damage. I am worried about my roof leaking in these damaged areas. Can I please get some help with this issue?Desired Settlement: I would like my roof repaired in the damaged areas.

Review: I hired Pal's Power Washing to power wash my home, my roof,my deck, and to clean and wash my gutters. I had negotiated a price with the owner, Kevin Palladino, based on a package of having more than one service. He came to my home and gave me a written quote complete with pricing, what services I requested, and the services he promised to perform. He did power wash the deck, even though he did a poor job on the hand rails. He failed to soap the roof the first time he said he would. When he came to clean my home, I was at work, but upon arriving home to see the job, I was disgusted to say the least. My home looked worse than before. Kevin promised to clean the green and black mold, said my gutters would look like new, and promised to clean the roof to remove all algae and streaking and stated the roof would also look brand new. When I got home, my gutters were not cleaned, and by this I mean they were not washed, nor were the leaves cleaned out. My home was covered with stains. The house looked worse than before. The only think he did was remove the green mold. I had to call Kevin to inquire why my home looked so poor, and I took several photos. He began making claims that he told me he couldn't remove the black spots, which were untrue. He also said he couldn't clean the gutters because he was afraid to damage them, but never bothered to call me or address the situation. After several phone calls, he agreed to come back, re-wash my house, and do my roof, at a reduced price. He came, did one roof application, and promised to return that week for a second. He never returned and never called. He did re-wash the house, however, he failed to wash below my deck, and still left some stains on my home. I had given him a partial payment at that time, with the rest due after he came back for the second roof application. He is not a man of his word despite his advertising and his claims that he is a veteran and does not lie. He only "tries" to do things when you complain and threaten to not pay him.Desired Settlement: I would like other's to be aware of how this man conducts business and how he is not trustworthy and does not live up to his word. Even when you have a written document from him and photos to prove your damages. He pushes right back with an attitude and then once he realizes you won't pay him, he then comes back with a solution, but does not even follow through. When he came to my house, and I showed him the stains, he claimed he had done a good job the first time. I want to be reimbursed.

Review: [redacted] rarely returned phone calls and on three occasions did not show up as promised to remove black mildew stains left behind on the roof he cleaned on April 22, 2013. I finally had to hire another cleaner who did the job satisfactorily on September 26.Desired Settlement: I will mail you a copy of the details of poor service. I do not know how the Revdex.com deals with these situations, but I would appreciate a reply.

Response:

On March 26, 2013 I gave Mrs. [redacted] a written estimate to soft wash her roof. The estimate stated that I would remove black streaks, moss and mold that had accumulated on the front roof. It aslo stated we would cover all shrubs, plants, etc. The bottom of the estimate states "payment in full upon job completion". She asked if she needed to give a deposit and I stated that I don't want a dime until she is 100% satisfied. That statement is on all my contracts.

On the morning of April 22, 2013 the job was complete and she paid me in full with check# [redacted].

A few weeks later she called and stated that there were a few black streaks that reappeared but she want to wait until the end of the season (Mid Sep) because the plants are still blooming. She asked if she should call me and I said that I would call her and I would make it a point to fix anything. The weather we have had has been great and flowers were still in bloom and I was going to call at the end of September but she called me saying that she couldn't wait any longer and hired another company to do the washing. I tried to explain that its hard for me to call during the day because I'm washing from sunrise to sunset 6 days a week and all she had to do was leave a message and I would have returned her phone call.

I don't know what I can do to make this right.

Subject: complaint ID 9743113

Dear Ms. [redacted]

I do not agree with Mr. [redacted] response and see no reason to change the posting I submitted on

Sept. 29, 2013. Here is my second rebuttal:

My letter of 9/29/13 to the Revdex.com constitutes my rebuttal to the erroneous statements in the third paragraph on Mr. [redacted] statement. He had more than three opportunities to make it right, and he failed to do so. Also, regarding being “100% satisfied. That statement is on all my contracts”, I cannot find that language on his

proposal. If you would like me to send you a copy, I would certainly do so.

In forty years of dealing with contractors, I have never lodged a Revdex.com complaint, and I did not do this lightly or without being sure that the circumstances warranted it. After many phone calls and three missed appointments, I did not get Mr. [redacted] serious attention until July 16, when I mentioned his use of “accredited by the

Revdex.com” in his general phone message. (It is also on his website.) Even then, he did not follow up as he was supposed to do.

Consumers trust the Revdex.com accreditation, but my experience with Pal’s Power Washing was very unpleasant and certainly unsatisfactory.

Thank you,

Mrs. [redacted], CT [redacted]

Response:

Just today I called Mrs [redacted] and spoke very politely with her and asked what can I do to make this negativity into a positive. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do. I offered to pay 50% of the bill to offset her expenses but was told that it's not the money but about me returning her phone calls.

After the initial washing as I stated earlier I did plan on washing the roof again but in late August. The problem is the flowers were still blooming and I decided to wait until the end of Sep to call her. Maybe I should have called in Aug to schedule a Sep wash but I didn't.

I currently receive emails from the Revdex.com and am on [redacted]. I have received some 85 plus emails and have called each and every lead and have a 90% success rate in closing the deals. This year alone Pals has cleaned over 250 homes in a six month period.

Sincerely,

PALS Power Washing, LLC
