Pamlico Roofing Reviews (3)

This company, Pamlico Roofing and I verbally without a written contract of any kind made an agreement to repair flooring structural damage to my house. I asked the company owner if he could give me an idea on cost. He said 3 or 4 K. I told him to proceed with the work and I had other small issues with my home he could also repair. I understand this is not good business practice on my part but I assumed that I would be treated fairly by this company. My mistake. The employees completed the structural damage to the front of my house. I had some of them do some smaller jobs such as minor painting, etc.. I even bought some of the materials and they used some of my tools. With the number of hours worked and the small amount of materials bought by the contractor I never imaged my cost would be $7,800. Some of the days the employees showed up later that the time they gave me they would be there. One day they did show at all. I did not keep up with the total cost of materials nor labor but never would I think it would be close to $7800. I did ask him for an itemized list of materials and hours of labor. I have nothing from him. The worst thing about the whole deal is he expected me to pay him one lump sump the day he claimed he was finished. As I stated in my opening we had no contract or any kind of payment agreement. The day he completed the job I was out of town. My wife called me and told me he had asked her if I had left him a check with her. I called him and told him to not ask my wife for payment now and never again. I I told him I could pay him only a portion of that, 2 k, and that it would take me a few days to gather the rest. He insisted I pay the full amount that day. He said he was going to charge me one dollar each day I had not paid him, threaten to take me to court, and even tear down what he had done. I told him he could take me to court, but I could not give him what I did not have on that day. He insisted he needed to pay his men. I finally convinced him I would give him in advance 2k so he could make some payment to his men but I needed some time to get the rest from my investment firm which takes 5 to 10 days. He agrees and the next day sends one of his workers to my house for the check. I wrote him the check for 2,000 dollars. A week or so goes by and I have nothing from him. I am out of town on a weekend and he calls. I realize it is him and know he is after the remainder of his money. I did not response to his call. Meantime he sends 3 of his men to my house and they question my wife about where I am and insist they want their money. This is all after, as mentioned earlier, I had told him not to involve my wife in payment.Feeling a little shaky she calls me and tells me about the ordeal. Desired SettlementSince then I have made a payment to him for 5500 dollars and owe him $300.00 more. I have explained to him he needs to mend some of his repairs before I complete my payment. He agreed and told me he would call me the next morning to set up a time to come. He did not call or come. I called him twice, no answer. He finally returned my call and gave me his poor excuse for not contacting me.Business Response In response to the complaint we have been to Mr waters house and satisfactorily finished the job to his liking! Before we left costumer was satisfied with the completion of job and paid in full the remaining balance. Consumer Response As per the contractors comments, the actual work was not all the issues involved. Yes he failed to do the job right the first time. He has corrected his work as requested since my first complaint. The other issues were not addressed by his response. His treats to take me to court, the idea of questioning my wife for payment after I had told him not to, the promise from him for a itemized list of materials and cost plus the number of hours on the job. I have paid this contractor in full but I am making this complaint to alarm other would be customers of the situation I was in and maybe to avoid my mistake and this type of situation. ThanksFinal Business Response All the so to speak issues have been taking care of ! Our problem with the homeowner started after completion of job when he told us that he wasn't paying us .In return I spoke with him he said he would give us 2000 now and the rest in 5 to 10 days .Three weeks later with no contact from homeowner there was a voice mail left for him to pay the balance or there would be legal action taken. The homeowner contacted me and said there was issues that needed to be taken care of after three weeks. My company went and satisfactorily done what homeowner was concerned about. After this the balance was paid in full.Peaople like this make it hard for contractors to trust others that they'll get paid after completion of job.

Unsatisfactory work. Needs to be corrected as I have requested before. We have made multiple attempts to contact the owner since completion of the job in 2014 up to June 2016 by phoning and leaving voicemail we got no response, however we did from text. Owner acknowledged receiving pics of unsatisfactory work and said he would get to us in the next couple of weeks which was back in May 2016. We did not call weekly we just kept calling on/off throughout this entire time. I gave him until 6/30/16 to resolve via text and let him know I would report this if he chooses not to resolve. The 2x4's do not meet, the screened in area has 2 leaks, we requested strong screen due to windy conditions in the area and he used thin cheap screen this was coming off in a couple of weeks. The border around the screen has cracked in many areas, he never came back out to apply second layer of stain on wood and the awning has been coming down in less than a year. He left my home completely exposed to summer heat and rain with out roof and siding for weeks. Very dissatisfied customer!Desired SettlementHe needs to repair to my satisfaction. He needs to keep working on leaks until he gets them fixed right. We will have one of us from the family to check repairs with me to see how it looks. He needs to replace all the screen border and use the correct stain to keep from cracking again. The 2x4's that are not meeting need to be replaced and put in right. I need my windows back in original look. As he did the siding he put calking around the outside of window that looks a horrible mess. Replace the warped wood that was not nailed in completely from beginning this is on the deck. Also the overhang that is falling out and has rotted needs to be replaced.
