Mrs*** came in on March with her dog ***Maddie was matted to the skinI informed Mrs*** that we would have to shave Maddie completely because of the extreme mattingI also informed her that there would be a $*** fee added
to her total because of the matting.While grooming Maddie she was accidently cutThe cut was about inches long but only skin deepIt did not even bleedWhen dogs are matted to the skin as Maddie was sometimes the blade will suck in the skin causing a cutI showed the cut to Mrs*** when she picked Maddie upI advised her to get a cone so Maddie could not lick the cut, because even though in was minor it could still irritate herShe could lick it and make it worseI told her I would pay for the cone if she were to bring me the receipt as I didn't know at the time how much it would costMrs*** agreed and left with ***Mrs*** called me Monday or Tuesday afternoon saying she had to take Maddie to the vet for staples because the cut was so largeShe wanted me to pay her vet bill and I declinedShe said her vet said the cut was very deepI asked for her vets name because I am sure she allowed Maddie to lick it and make it worse and I wanted to discuss this with her vetShe refused to give me her vets nameI told her that I didn't feel the bill was my responsibility because when she left her the cut was not deep and had she followed my instructions and not let *** lick the would she would not have had to go to the vetShe said she had already slammed me on facebook and would continue to do so until I paid the billI am sending a copy of her records with my business
Our policy is to pay for vet bills when we cause an injury that requires the attention of a vetIf the owner lets the pets further the injury causing the need to see a vet, we do not cover thatIn this case had Mrs*** groomed her pet in a timely manner and not neglected to her the point of being matted to the skin this would not have even happenedIt breaks our heart to see dogs come in in that conditionUnfortunately it happens all too often
