Pampered Pooch Reviews (1)

I, Carrie [redacted] F[redacted] RVT, am the owner of Pampered Pooch. I groomed "[redacted]" 12yrs old Maltese/ Bichon mix on October 7, 2017 (Not September 9) which was Saturday. "[redacted]" suffers from chronic ear infection, skin issues from allergies which she chews and licks her paws which causes swollen paw...

pads, she has warts and cysts (one on her tail base and one on her back), along with arthritis. [redacted] Animal Hospital treats "[redacted]" for these conditions. They packed [redacted]'s ears to treat for the infection. [redacted] is on Tramadol for pain and limping due to her arthritis per owner. Due to her conformation and swelling of her pads of her paws her toes on both front feet are splayed outward. Which means toenails do not wear correctly or normally, instead they grown outward and grow longer. This is why it gives Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] the ideal that they were not cut at her grooming appointment which they were. [redacted] was groomed completely with a medicated bath to help her skin issues by me on October 7, 2017. The cysts at this time were not ruptured or infected. I have been grooming since 1993 which is long enough to know to cut ALL the dogs nails.  The day in question is October 16, 2017 which is a Monday. I received a call around 9:00 am from Mr. [redacted] which he wanted me to look at her toe nails and I told him "Sure, No Problem" (he had no appointment). Mr. [redacted] brings [redacted] in and He told me that she was limping on her right front leg and they thought I forget to trim her nails causing her pain because the one looks longer on her right paw then the rest. I examined her paw and explained to him in the lobby that her nails are cut as far back as they can go without causing her to bleed. I also explained that it looks like that because of her splayed paw pads that is just they way they grow and wear.  I asked him if he wanted me to file them to try to shorten them and while she is back there I will look at her pads to see if I see anything in there that might be the cause. He agreed.  I just expanded so there is only a half door between lobby and grooming area. Owners can visually see what is going on and we have nothing to hide. I placed [redacted] on Ryan's grooming table to exam her pads and file her nails, during this time I noticed a smell of infection. Of course, I am going to look for it. That is when I noticed that they cyst on her back had ruptured and caused the fur to mat down and trap it causing an infection. I brought [redacted] back out front. I showed Mr. [redacted] about what I found. It was first thing in the morning so I had my receptionist and Janet along with a client in the front lobby as I explained his options of care for her. He asked how I knew it was infected so I showed him when I lifted the scab with my finger purulent material came out along with a smell. Janet was behind the desk and she saw it. I asked him if he wanted me to clip and clean the area or he can go across the street to the vet clinic. I could not get and verbal answer but he did shake his head yes. I picked [redacted] back up and carried her to my station to clip the area. If he didn't want me to he could have said No. He DID NOT! I have worked in a vet clinic and helped in surgery. I also taught surgical prep and wound treatment so yes I am fully capable of clipping and cleaning wound areas to be sure that hair doesn't grow or lay back on the infected area to prevent or jeopardize the healing process of the wound. As I was cleaning the area I Noticed the heat coming from the area and asked for him to come back so I can once again show him and explain to him that he needs to go to the vet for antibiotics orally because it was infected. He Immediately got upset and said what did you do and how his wife is going to be mad and who told me to do that. I was completely confused because I told him what I was doing. He asked me to a band aid on it because he cant look at it. He left. I never charged for anything I did or my time. I called [redacted] to explain and tell them I was hoping he was going over there which she told me he was there. I thought Perfect she is going to get the care and antibiotics she needed.About a couple hours later, I get a call from Mrs. [redacted] asking me to explain my side of the story, which she would not even let me fully without either of them interrupting me and accusing me. Mrs. [redacted] did state that Mr. [redacted] was not suppose to bring [redacted] to you in the first place and that he was suppose to go to the vet with her. I really couldn't get much word in except feeling like she either wanted me to put the blame on [redacted] or to admit I caused the infection. I refuse to do either. She wanted me to pay $91.00 for the vet bill on [redacted] and when I asked what was the bill for she said she didn't know. I asked if the vet sent her at home with antibiotics and she told me NO! I hung up after being yelled and with a bunch of false acquisitions about my care for these animals in my salon, be being a business woman, and how I am heartless. I was beyond hysterical at this point,  I could not even finish my day of work. I did call [redacted] to ask what the bill was for. They told me it was an Exam, Clavamox Tabs, and Novasol Solution (Not sure if I have the correct spelling of this product) which is a cleaner for the area. Seeings how they wanted me to pay I felt as if I needed to inform them or at Least Mrs. [redacted] of what was bill was for and Antibotics were given which is exactly what [redacted] needed and I was not wrong!! Mrs. [redacted] was still insistent on me paying for the bill and wanted it by Friday or I am going to have issues.  I told her that I was not got to pay and that they can take their business else where. This is when they both were screaming and yelling at me and listening to how heartless I am. Yes - I do feel bad that it got this far. Yes - I do feel bad for [redacted] because of her owners' behavior she has to find another groomer.  I am a very passionate groomer. I am NOT a vet, but I am Registered Vet Tech which is fully capable of clipping and cleaning infected wound, cyst, hot spots and etc. Groomers deal with coats from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. If Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] wants someone to JUST cut hair then I am not that groomer because I am more than just that - I CARE!!! They can go to [redacted], [redacted] or [redacted].This would have NEVER happened if Mr. [redacted] would have just taken [redacted] to the vet like his wife wanted. They would of had this bill no matter what but maybe they were trying to avoid the cost of the vet bill and in which they are trying to do now by wanting me to pay. Mrs. [redacted] NEVER heard or set forth in my salon or the vet clinic on the dates mention.I am a very caring groomer and have Great working relationships with 15 local vet clinics due to my reputation on how well we handle senior pets, pets with health issues, behavioral issue pets, and our capability of finding problems with pets and referring them back to the vets for treatment.I am Sorry that they feel this way but paying this bill is admitting fault and I didn't cause the infection or caused the cyst to rupture! I simply found it clipped it so it's easier for the vet and the owner to care for it! As for [redacted]'s Liver issue, it's a good thing it was found because the last thing that this poor girl needs is it to go untreated or unnoticed and for it to go systemic!!!!!!! She is 12 years old that can't fight infection so antibiotics are a good thing to help her not a bad thing. My Solution - I have lost 2 days of work of being totally upset oover this and if [redacted] can walk herself into my salon I would still care for her.  The way that Mr. & Mrs [redacted] talked to me and treated me is uncalled for. I can't even believe how someone could say mean and untrue acquisitions about me. Yes - I believe I did them a favor in finding an issue. An Infection doesn't happen in 10 minutes - anyone in the medical field could tell you that I didn't give the dog the infection.  I have been the groomer of [redacted] Since March 9, 2015.Carrie Anne F[redacted], RVT - OwnerPampered Pooch
