Paparone Enterprises Reviews (%countItem)

I had a flooded basement and called ***. Michael told me on the phone that their work was costly but that I would be provided with an estimate. He quotes me as saying "just needed to get it done".
When Brian arrived at our house, in a $1M development, I was given an estimate of $8,000. On that basis, I said OK. He and one worker stayed until 2pm doing some work and then left to meet with another customer leaving my basement still loaded with standing water.
After I researched my insurance and disclosed a $10k coverage, the estimate jumped from $8k to $12k, a 50% increase. When I complained about the gouging, instead of justifying the fee with specifics, Michael's defense was my quote of needing to get it done.
The next day, equipment was brought but two of the items had Repair Tags on them when brought to the basement. several other aid flows were not plugged in and an electrician was called to add an extender box. The next day, five workable units were not plugged in for the weekend. I was told that Brian was going to bring extension cords. When Brian failed to arrive on Friday night, I used my own extension cords to plug into the extension box to run over the weekend.
On Monday, all equipment was picked up but I later spoke with Brian about never getting the anti-Microbial spray. Brian spent about 20 minutes with a garden sprayer in the basement (a $680 charge!).
There are performance issues that I may take up with the *** franchisor but this is about the deceptive bait-and-switch billing.

Hello,

I've attached supporting documentation to explain our side of the dispute. This documentation has been provided to *** several times throughout the course of the job and subsequent emails. *** attempted to have *** reverse the charges on his card, but after reviewing the attached documentation, *** found in favor of our company. Unfortunately, as we move further away from this mitigation, *** seems to be confusing some details. The attached documentation will clarify many details in response to the note above, but there are a few specifics I will try to address here.

We performed mitigation work for the *** from 12/18/19 to 12/23/19. Our project manager's name was Robert S- no one named Brian works at our franchise now, or worked here at the time of service. We never provided a quote to *** for $8,000, but did provide a quote for $12,536.52 near the beginning of the job. As noted in the attachment, after reviewing our preliminary estimate of $12,536.52, our actual services rendered increased the invoice to $13,664.06; however, in a good faith effort, we honored the initial estimate amount of $12,536.52. This was due to the fact that *** had raised issue with us leaving early on the first day, previously; and although this did not affect our scope of work, we decided to honor our initial estimate due to this fact.

On page 18 of the attached documentation is an email from *** dated 12/24/19, after services were complete, requesting his insurance provider pay $10,000 directly to us, and explicitly stating he will pay the remaining balance of $2,536.52 to our company, himself. In the end, his insurance provider paid him the $10,000 and then he forwarded payment by way of *** in the amount of $12,536.52.

I am not sure what has changed to make *** so upset with our company and the price provided since then, but I think we attempted to handle the situation as professionally & transparently as possible.

Please let me know if you need any additional information from our company after you have had a chance to review the attached documentation.

Thank you,

Michael P

On 7/18/2018 Jason B came to my house to check out mold issue and informed me that it would cost $81 ($75 plus 8% tax) for an estimate. Although the company cashed the check on 7/28/2018, I never received the estimate. My problem with mold and water remediation must be addressed. The entire job will cost between $15,000-$30,000 to do and complete the job effectively. Since he never emailed me with the estimate, I no longer need it and request my money back. At the end of July, after the check was cashed, I spoke to a female concerning the estimate and she apologized for the delay and stated that I should receive it shortly. I am a 71 year black woman and feel that I have been taken advantage of by this young white male. Seniors are treated horribly in this country.

I received a letter concerning the above-referenced complaint. The customer was ***. I’ve reviewed her complaint along with our file notes. Here is what I found:

Her account that we visited her property on 7/18/2018 to gather notes for a mold estimate is correct. We were very busy at that time, and so we were a little backed up on getting estimates sent out. We did complete and send *** her estimate on 7/30/2018, so I am not sure why she is claiming we never sent it. I have attached our original email to her for reference. So although she did have to wait a few days for her estimate, we also did not cash the check until we completed the estimate.

I understand *** was upset by the delay, but, unfortunately, due to the emergency-based nature of our industry, “non-emergency” estimates can normally take 1-2 weeks to be completed.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. I take complaints against our company very seriously, so I am happy to try to resolve in a reasonable manner.

Thank you,Michael P
