I personally called and spoke to this patient. It is always important to me to try and keep everyone happy. He was charged only for his routine ultrasound study, not for a visit. The amount he was charged was exactly what his insurance told us he had to pay. This, as far as I know is and was not in...

dispute. He did not ask for a refund, or I would have given it immediately. Cash if he liked. At this time he has already received it by [redacted]. I did this to make absolutely sure that there is no doubt how important to me it is to keep him happy. We are participating providers of [redacted]. As such, sometimes [redacted] quotes is incorrect benefits. We verify these benefits by telephone. These callas are recorded and the time date and name of the [redacted] rep is documented. This information is given to the patient. A copy of the recording is offered to the patients including this one.He also turned me over to [redacted]. They investigated and told me that they agree 100% with everything we did, and are pleased with our over all effort to keep him happy.It is the law that The provider is not responsible for problems with a patients specific coverage and they appreciate our good faith efforts designed to protect the patient, and are clearly in agreement with our form which explains that in the event that coverage is not in effect or they quoted incorrect or anything else that results in non payment, or underpayment from the insurance company is not our liability it is the patients. This patient did not like it. Please know that in 30 years I have never had a patient refuse to accept liability in the even that his insurance quotes wrong or the policy expired, etc. We provide highly specialized care here, and our training and experience are second to none. It is my understanding that he has gone to seek care at another local clinic. Although I have not spoke with that clinic and physician about this particular patient, I can say that I played a significant role in that physicians training. I also know there policy is the same as mine, the only difference is that they do not make their patients aware in advance. I am hopeful he will be happy with their treatment. In the past they have referred the more complicated patients to me for care. It is possible that he may fall into that category. In any event we stand ready to help him in anyway we can.His new treating physician asked for and received the ultrasound we did, and refunded payment for.I am confident Our treatment of him was exemplary. All conversations were recorded and evaluated to verify quality.Sincerely[redacted]
