Review: I got a rebuilt engine put in my 98 Toyota Tacoma on 5-10-13. The engines total cost was $2030 with a 1 year warranty. It took them almost two weeks to complete the rebuilt. When I got the truck back

I drove it around and noticed that I was having the same problems when I took it in except it wasn't overheating. Low compression bad gas mileage and burning oil. I kept telling the mechanic there something

wrong with it. I had to take it back in for at least another 5 days so he could look at it again. Luckily I have another car, I use my truck for my work because I'm a courier. Everytime I have to take my truck back to him

I have to find somebody to take me to the shop and give them gas money. Make a long story. He's had to rebuild my enging twice now. He's lost both of my original Toyota keys. The first key he lost he said that the mechanic must

lost it somewhere he had to fire that mechanic cause he was calling in alot and not showing up to work. The second key he lost he had a key guy come out to his shop and make a key. When he rebuilt the engine the

the second time, When I went to go pick the truck up my AC wasn't working, I confronted him about it. He said that one of his guys most have pinched the compressor. So I had to leave the truck with him another

day. He fixed it he didn't charge me for it but it's the hassle and headaches that i'm getting dealing with problem after problem. He had to take me back home, Because someone had just dropped me off.

out to his shop and make a key. I've have been back and fourth to has shop for 5 months now. I'm spending $40 a day in gas because it's burning oil. The fumes are really strong so I get headaches when i'm driving it. He told me that the block isn't good and i'm going to have to get a whole different engine. I've been calling him and he keeps telling me that he hasn't found a engine yet. I don't know what elese to do. I have had it with this mechanic. I talked to a lawyer about small claims court. Small claims is a big headache even if I win there's not guarantee I'm going to get the money back that I was was wanting to sue for. I was going to sue for $3000. Because of all the times that I had to go back and fourth over there. I'm spending alot more in gas because the truck doesn't run good, The two lost keys, And also I have to put oil in the truck every week. Please help me I don't know what to do. I'm so angry so stressed about this situation. Thank you

Response:

The time it took to rebuild the engine was because Mr. [redacted] did not have enough money to cover the repair. He asked if he could give a partial payment and then pay with a posted check that we were not able to cash in because he called to let us know his funds were insufficient. Mr. [redacted] said he would pay cash instead and did accordingly a week after he posted the check.

Review: I took my vehicle to Paradox to get it's engine rebuilt. They Quoted me at almost$1,700 and informed me that it would take roughly 5 days to complete. I agreed. Little by little I could tell there was something wrong by how he kept rising the cost of the service until reaching almost $2,600 and got my vehicle back almost a month later! In the process he would promise me that it was almost done and he would call me shortly. I waited, and no call....He did this to me 3 times. I tried being patient as I didn't want to place too much pressure to finish and risk rushing the job, or messing something up. I am completely dissatisfied with my engine rebuild. After finally driving it home, it leaked oil all over my driveway and now the vehicle will not start! I've contacted A, aowner Anthony "Tony", the owner and he promises again...that he will call back with a tow truck. I am still waiting! Even with that said, this vehicle is for business purposes, and loosing time = loosing money....This is completely unacceptable. I am at a halt because of him, and my business start up cost are increasing also because of his bad service.Desired Settlement: I DO NOT feel that his services performed was worth $2,600...especially since my vehicle is not opperable and I have completely wasted my time and money. I would like a fair price to be reached, and a partial refund to be authorized. As a starting point to negotiate I recommend we negotiate somewhere around an $1800 cost with repairs In order! This would mean a rough estimate of around $500-$600 refunded.
