To whom it may concern,On November 30, 2016, the Park Inn by Radisson Indiana entered into a catering contract for a wedding reception with *** ***The contract (attached) specifically outlines, among other details, the following: *** will be holding a wedding reception on August 19,
and a deposit of $500, required with the signed contract, is non-refundableAdditionally the contract specifies a cancellation clause that sets forth a scale based on a timeline if the event is cancelled. On April 3, 2017, *** informed the hotel that the wedding was canceled*** asked if she would be able to host another function on August 19, instead of her wedding and apply the depositThe hotel management agreed, in an effort to work toward an amenable solution to the difficult situation. On April 12, 2017, *** requested a refund of the depositThe hotel management referred back to the contract which specifies deposits are non-refundableAlso, according to the cancellation clause of the contract, the hotel could assess 50% of the lost revenue in attritionDue to the sensitivity of the situation, we chose to forgo this portion of lost revenue. Our policy of non-refundable deposit is in place to protect the hotel in the event of cancellation, and is explicitly explained prior to contract presentationIn most cases, we are unable to resell the space for another function within this time frameWe tried to work with *** to reach an outcome that was satisfactory to both sides, given the difficult situation.Angel K***General Manager

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Dear Ms. [redacted]This is in regard to Complaint ID: [redacted]. I am rejecting the Park Inn by Radisson's response for the following reasons. 1. I gave a deposit of $500.00 that was immediately taken out of my account to reserve the courtyard for our wedding/wedding reception.2. The Groom was the cause that the relationship ended and the wedding was cancelled, and I explained the reason to Holly, the Director of Sales. I  asked her if the deposit was refundable, and she said "No."3. I asked since the deposit was not refundable. If I could host another event there instead, being that the hotel was keeping my deposit and she said "Yes."4. Holly then called back and said I would have to sign ANOTHER contract, and if I did not do so, they were going to rent out the courtyard for that day to someone else. I argued that I already paid the deposit so the courtyard should be mine that day or they could refund my deposit being that they were going to collect 2 deposits. I explained that nowhere in the contract does it state under their cancellation policy that if a person backs out on the wedding leaves the other party with the heartache that another contract has to be signed.5. The cancellation policy very specifically states that the hotel can charge for lost revenue from the rooms that were reserved and the catering contract. We have not reserved any rooms for the wedding, nor did we choose a catering plan. The only thing in question was the deposit.6. I was given a confirmation # for a free room after giving my deposit, so I told Holly that I would still be staying in that room, and she told me that once the wedding is canceled, the room is canceled too.7. I told Holly that it was not fair that they were keeping my deposit AND renting out the courtyard to someone else because they were not losing any money, they were gaining it and I was the only person that was losing the money. I asked her if she your going to rent the courtyard out, to at least give me hotel and food credit for my situation and she said she would return my call after she spoke to her manager to try and resolve the situation. I gave her the hours that I work and told her that I could not speak to her during my work day. Holly called me during the exact time that I told her not too, and left a message saying they were not giving me any hotel credit and if I wanted to resign another contract I could. 8. My dispute is over the fact that they have my deposit, but they are renting out what I reserved anyway. The contract says nothing about resigning another contract if a "Wedding" is cancelled.9. Due to the fact that the Hotel is renting out the courtyard anyway, I am asking for my deposit back.10. I have included emails to Holly along with a copy of the contract.Thank you very much for your time and consideration in this very emotional situation.Respectfully Yours,[redacted]
