Parkersburg Veterinary Hospital Inc Reviews (1)

I am absolutely outraged. In the past month, I have spent close to $700 at this vet for my first cat to be spayed, given shots, dewormed, and declawed and the second cat to be given shots and declawed. Neither of my cats go outside at all. When I got my first cat, I put flea medicine on her myself, and also flea bombed my house while she was at the vet. At the vet, I asked them to put more flea medicine on her to be safe. My second cat is an albino, pure-white, short haired kitten with pink ears. I got her three weeks after my first cat. I got her from the pound where she was spayed and without fleas or worms. I took her to this vet to be declawed and she was there for two days. I picked her up today and within one minute of being in the car, I spotted a GIANT flea crawling on her pink, hairless ear. We turned the car around and went back to the vet immediately. When I told them that she now has fleas, they took her chart to the back and came back out a few minutes later with the chart and showed me where it was noted that she came in with fleas. The woman working at the vet specifically said, "she did not get fleas here because we noted that she had them when we examined her." They then gave me the free flea medicine packet that she said they normally give to new kittens anyways. She never apologized or accepted responsibility that these fleas could have ever come from their facility, and yet, while I stood there at the counter, an 80lb. dog came in that was missing most of its hair because it was loaded with fleas. Are you kidding me? Number one: while looking at my cat currently, there are gritty, black flea eggs ALL OVER HER and she is scratching and twitching from where they are crawling on her. I would have noticed this happening prior to her visit as I am a very vigilant pet owner (especially with her because she is deaf and I take special care to interact with her and accommodate her). Number two: if it has been noted that she was covered in fleas when she arrived, why was I not notified when I called to check on her? Isn't it a vet's responsibility to notify the owner and medicate for such a problem? Furthermore, knowing that it was noted that she had fleas and that they normally give new kitten owners a free flea packet, shouldn't that have been given to me when I paid and took her out of their facility? I had to go back in and complain in order to even receive what should have been given to me anyways. I am not unrealistic and I understand that when a veterinary hospital is dealing with that many animals, there is a possibility that they can have a stray flea somewhere. However, it is clear that they have either lied to me while also treating me in a condescending manner, or they have been negligent in treating my pet. I want to be clear when I say that I am not as much upset about the fleas as I am about how the issue was handled and how my pet and I were treated. I am highly disappointed that this has happened. My parents have been bringing their animals to this facility my entire life and highly recommended that I come here from out of town to ensure quality service and a positive experience for my fur babies. I do not recommend this vet and I will be taking my business elsewhere.
