I brought my wedding dress in to be dry-cleaned and said as much--I have a small income and stated that I had bought my dress on *** for my upcoming wedding and that I could not afford an expensive service. The worker asked if I would want my dress boxed, to which I replied no because I was worried it would crease the fabric after the cleaning. He assured me that it wouldn't and that it was the best way to keep it safe. I agreed, and after four weeks went in to pick it up. They charged me $*** as they had PRESERVED my dress as if my wedding had already occurred. It was boxed with creases visible through the clear viewing window. I have gone in three days in a row, left multiple messages with the workers, and finally the owner called me back and said that he was sorry but because the service had been administered he needed to be compensated for his time. I explained that this was NOT the service I requested and, if he needed to be compensated, that he seek that from the employee who incorrectly entered the information for the cleaning. Again, he said that he could not refund me. I literally spent $*** on my wedding dress and am happy to show the receipt. There is NO REASON ON EARTH I would agree to spend $*** to have my wedding dress cleaned and preserved prior to my wedding day, which, by the way, I will have to have cleaned AGAIN to remove the folds and wrinkles from it being boxed. I have a hunch that he pulls this often, as there are many complaints similar to this on online reviews. He could easily charge people whatever he wants and argue that because it is a service as opposed to a good that it cannot be returned. This is an unethical way of running a business and he should be held accountable for his malicious money-mongering.
