Review: [redacted] installed wall board and trim work in our commercial bathroom. After 2 days of work, it was clear he and his worker were not quality craftsman. I asked them to halt work and let them know I would finish the job my self. Over the 2 days of work [redacted] left the job frequently, leaving his "journeyman" at work unsupervised, at no time did they clean up after themselves, I was left cleaning up dirt and debry at end of day. When I asked him to stop the work, he complained about the difficult work he had to do (installing vertical and horizontal trim on Wall board) and commented that it had taken him much longer to complete the job because of the extra cuts he had to make during the install. The following day, when I went to complete the job (cut out the poor calking job [redacted] and his journeyman had done), and start calking the trim into the main panel, I found that neither a level nore a measuring tape had been used during the install of the lower trim board. Over the 28 feet of trim board that was installed it dropped from 6 inches off the ground to just under 4 inches, which was very apparent when the door in the bathroom was shut and you looked at the level of the trim on either side of the door. I contacted the building landlord, and let them know that there was a problem, while trying to figure out a solution with the landlord, I received a bill from [redacted] for over $400 in additional cost that he expect my wife and I to cover because the additional trim work was not apart of his original bid. At no time did he give us an estimate of the additional cost for the "hard/difficult" trim he installed. I refused to pay the exorbitant extra he had billed us, and stated that I wasn't paying for 2 reasons, 1 because he never gave us a bid, and 2 because the work was done so poorly that the only way to fix his mistake would be to remove all the work he had done and start from scratch. This became a health concern because this is a comercial bathroom that requires us to maintain a 4" coved floor.Desired Settlement: Since my refusal to pay [redacted], he has thrown objects at our building, flipped me off and continues to harass me. The latest incident has let me to make this complaint and to add an additional one to his file with the state. I'm asking that [redacted] grow up! Stop harassing me and my family, and learn how to use the tools of your trade so no other person receives shotie work like this again!

Response:

I was hired by the building owner through the property manager to replace some water damaged paneling in the restroom. Once we started the work however, the renters there([redacted] who filed complaint) tried to tell me how they wanted the work to be done and wanted to change things in the bathroom I explained this is not what the owner slash property manager once or will pay for and that that would require an additional charge so we did the work that the property manager wanted and several times we had [redacted] and his wife complaining about the way they wanted it done and as we were finishing the job saying not to apply caulking on it because they were going to do it and they were going to paint it and do what it was going to take to make it compliant for the health department, but we went ahead and finish the caulking and got it prepped so they could just paint it then months later I saw him in [redacted] and he shouted something to me from 30 feet away then tried to film / take a picture of me as I was leaving. then a few weeks later I saw him on the freeway, he looked and was pointing at me so I gave him the middle finger, then that night I got this email that he made a complaint. I don't understand how someone who was not even a customer of mine or paid to have me provide a service can try to file a complaint because the job wasn't done the way they wanted it to be done when they were only the renters / tenants and DIDN'T HIRE or PAY ME? I have been in business over 15 years and have never been called back because of poor workmanship, only once or twice because something was overlooked / forgotten. I have an outstanding satisfaction rating with all of my clients and most of my work is off of customer referrals. This is ridiculous if just anyone is able to file a complaint without some kind of proof that they hired me or of faulty workmanship, my estimate and invoice was to the property management office and only named their lame gluten free bakery on the estimate as where the work was performed a year ago.

Response:

It's simple, leave me and my family alone. Mr. [redacted] does terrible work, which he tries to pawn off as professional finish work. If he felt like he could stand on a bucket against me he would bring me to court for the $400.00 he says I owe him, instead of harassing me and my family by vandalizing my building or flipping me off on the freeway.
