Parkway Plumbing & Heating Reviews (1)

Review: I contacted this company for a routine maintenance check up in Oct 2013 as they had installed the furnace in 1997. Before the service could take place, I thought I had a problem because the inducer seemed to be running a long time before the burner would catch. The service man (and a younger man he introduced as his son)came to my home on 10-23-13. My invoice lists "repair hose and replace pressure switch". This charge was $90 plus $79.95 for the check up. Through Nov the problem was continuing. On Dec 2 I called again. This time the owner (FV) and the service man (KP) came. When KP took the front off the furnace, he immediately said the problem was a kinked hose (the one he had replaced). The hose was again replaced and some part was sanded clean. There wasn't a charge for this and when they left the furnace was working. On Christmas, the temp was 50 degrees in my home and I called again on Dec 26. On 12/27/13 FV and a new service man (Jim) came. FV said there was water in my lines and I probably had a blockage due to bird or insects. They blew the exhaust line out. Jim said a large amount of water was coming out outside and he thought the pipe in the house was not slanted correctly. FV said that wasn't the problem. They left the exhaust disconnected from the inducer motor overnight so I would have heat and returned the next day to replaced the inducer. They also brought PVC pipe in case they need to replace that to fix the "blockage". I was charged $289 for the motor and $160 for 2 hours of service. FV said it was really 4 hours but he would give me a break. 4 days later I had the same problem with the inducer running and running but the burner not catching. This time I went to Revdex.com for another company and requested service. The new service man said my new inducer motor was a used part (visible rust being one clue) and the exhaust pipe had a visible "belly". He put up hanging strips to correct the drainage and my problem has gone away. I was charged $144 for this service.Desired Settlement: I have already cancelled my check to Parkway for $477. Not only was the inducer used, it was not needed. I go back and forth on whether I think it was incompetence or they were just going to keep changing parts and charging me because they thought that, as an older widow, I wouldn't object and would keep trusting them. I don't want to be charged with theft of service but neither do I want to be taken advantage of. I told FV in a voice mail that I would let Revdex.com arbitrate.
