2/3 - 2/5/23 - vomiting uncontrollably

2/6- Parrish ER - 7 hours
Vomiting while being triaged, given a barf bag & told to sit in the waiting room. Finally made it to an ER triage chair & begged for something to stop nausea. Because I started to cry, they gave me an IV of Zofran & saline & performed blood & urine tests. I never made it to an ER bed because I was told none were available. 29 patients 1 physician
Diagnosis
UTI & given antibiotics & Zofran for the vomiting & released but still can't keep solid foods down

2/9 - not getting better / visit Advent Health Urgent Care
Still can't keep solid foods down, weak & dehydrated. Explained to the NP about prolonged nausea, & she asked if Parrish had completed a CT scan or x-ray of the abdominal area, and I replied,"no." An x-ray of my stomach was completed, & I was told I had a large amount of "material" in my colon. I was advised to use laxatives, enemas & Zofran. The NP was concerned & encouraged me to return to an ER if the vomiting continued.

2/14 - still vomiting & back to Parrish ER.
can't keep solid foods down
Blood & vitals were within normal ranges, & hydration had improved. CT scan was performed, which showed there was still significant material in the colon
UTI still appeared in urine test
Given prescriptions for GoLightly, Zofran, & antibiotics; told to drink liquids & protein drinks for nourishment, & advised to find a GI specialist.
Since my husband & I are residents of NYS, we do not have a primary physician in FL. GI specialists require a referral, & appointments are a month out.

2/15-19
Took prescribed medications but still can't keep solid foods down

2/20 - projectile vomiting, delirious, & transported to Parrish ER by ambulance at 7 am
can't keep solid foods down
no additional scans done
new blood work & urine test
Given a saline IV at 8am, which ran out within the next hour & never replaced
Asked to be admitted to get to the bottom of what was going on & was told the doctor could not admit me because my vitals were good and insurance companies won't pay for admittance. I told the doctor we had supplemental medical insurance in addition to Medicare, which should provide any coverage necessary, still denied admittance
We explained we live out of state, our house has sold, & we must leave & that is why I am asking to be admitted & have an on staff GI specialist complete an examination as an inpatient. I was still denied admittance.
Prescribed Zofran & told to keep drinking liquids & to see a GI specialist
As the nurse handed me the discharge papers, my husband asked if they had any socks or a gown I could use because I came in an ambulance in bare feet & boxer shorts. A student nurse found me a pair of socks & scrub bottoms. My husband left to get the car. The nurse asked if I could stand, & I replied I could. She walked out & didn't see her again. No wheelchair or person to accompany me out the door. I walked through the lobby alone, in my socks & scrub pants, barely knowing where I was because I was so weak.

2/21 - extremely weak, still can't keep any solid foods down, & taking Zofran around the clock.
My husband started frantically calling local GI specialists to explain the situation. Finally, the following week, we obtained an appointment with German Restrepo, a GI NP at Titusville Landing. He ordered another CT scan. I am still under his care & appreciate his concern. If I had been cared for properly initially, we may not of had to rent back the home we sold and I might have gotten strong enough to travel home.

I subsequently found out that none of my neighbors will come to Parrish for medical care. They recommend Viera, Orlando, or Canaveral. The day the EMTs came to transport me to the hospital, I thought it was odd when they asked me to which hospital I would like to go. Now I understand.
We live in a very rural area of NY & this crisis makes me truly appreciate the type of care we receive where we live as opposed to the hospital in Titusville.

I'm writing this review on the behalf of my mother who became ill due to her diabeties...she was rushed to this hospital for treatmentShe was there for almost a month where the hospital kept performing tests with no real diagnosesThe nursing staff was great but there was never a Doctor around to talk toAnd when requesting to speak to one they would avoid youSince then they forced her home with no home care or the lack of as there communication was lackingMy mother got ill again and was sent back the very next night with he same resultAnd was there almost months total nowWhen I visited her they had her on a NON-Diebitic diet which they should had know better from her records They did more test no diagnosis(I feel they were runnin up the bill on my mothers insurance)She was sent home again and she got lll and went right back inFinally we had enough of this hospital and took her to the [redacted] hospital where they performed test and diagnosed her problem within in a week and is now on the road to recoveryParrish Hospital will treat people but only the symptoms and don't fix the problem meanwhile raping your insurance for every dollarTheir communication is horrible they are in my eyes just a bandaid to the medical worldIf a love one is ill take them to [redacted] if given the option

I hate Parrish so muchThat is the slowest hospital I've ever been toU will be sitting in the er for hours nor more before your called to the backThe er calls people out of order and then tries to say its because some people have more serious problems then what some people were in forThat don't make since if that was the case they wouldnt be sitting all day in the er of it was so serious I'm so tired of Parrish poor serviceI've been here since and still sitting in the er with my boyzSomething needs to be done bout the timing of this poor hospital

I'm writing this review on the behalf of my mother who became ill due to her diabeties...she was rushed to this hospital for treatment.. She was there for almost a month where the hospital kept performing tests with no real diagnoses.. The nursing staff was great but there was never a Doctor around to talk to.. And when requesting to speak to one they would avoid you. Since then they forced her home with no home care or the lack of as there communication was lacking.. My mother got ill again and was sent back the very next night with he same result.. And was there almost 2 months total now.. When I visited her they had her on a NON-Diebitic diet which they should had know better from her records .. They did more test no diagnosis.. (I feel they were runnin up the bill on my mothers insurance).. She was sent home again and she got lll and went right back in.. Finally we had enough of this hospital and took her to the [redacted] hospital where they performed test and diagnosed her problem within in a week and is now on the road to recovery... Parrish Hospital will treat people but only the symptoms and don't fix the problem meanwhile raping your insurance for every dollar.. Their communication is horrible they are in my eyes just a bandaid to the medical world.. If a love one is ill take them to [redacted] if given the option...
