Party Dress Express Reviews (7)

Regarding the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] ***Mr. ***'s now wife, [redacted] and mother came in with a dress that was purchased at [redacted] that needed alterations. The dress was a floor sample and we explained that we would try to clean up the dress as much as possible as... well as take in the dress to fit but until the work was started we could not tell how much of the dress could be repaired. The Bride returned to my shop 4 times for fittings and at the last fitting the dress fit perfect that when she returned the fifth time to pick-up the dress she just checked the dress and didn't want to try it on. We did receive a phone call after that date telling us that the dress was now not fitting perfect, we did tell them that we would stand behind our work and if they came back we would fix it but because of the distance if they went closer to home and mailed us an itemized bill we would reimburse them knowing that there could not be much work needed. My square One company did reimburse the mother that paid for the alterations $150.00. we feel that we have been more than generous to Mr. [redacted] wife with our reinbursement for the amount of work that we did on her dress, I am not sure what else needed to be done when the dress fit perfect on the last try on unless her weight had changed. Please be advised that this office represents Alterations Express regarding the above captioned matterOn October 26, 2015, *** *** purchased a wedding gown from *** *** ***, which was on clearance due for the alteration necessary on this gownMs***'s mother paid for the alterations with her credit card by phone on January 11, Ms***'s mother attended the first fitting of the gown and at no time did *** attend any of the fittings, nor did he see the condition of the gown prior to its extensive repairs and alterationsIn fact, Ms*** had a a total of four (4) fittings for this gown on the following date, 10/29/15, 11/17/15, 12/08/and 12/19/2015, after the extensive repairs were made to the tears, pilling of the lace and the bottom of the dress was cleaned by handAdditionally, the dress was taken in and fitted to Ms***At the last fitting, two (2) of Ms***s bride's maids were present for their fittings that were also done by Alterations ExpressAs the bride modeled the dress by walking and spinning her bridesmaid's commented on how beautiful the dress fir and lookedThey even remarked that they couldn't believe what the dress looked like as they had seen it in it's original "tattered state"When Ms*** picked up her gown on January 11, 2016, from the Alterations Express and did not want to try the gown again, but looked it over and stated she was very happy with the workOn January 13, 2016, Alterations Express received a complaint from her credit card provider and Ms*** called Ms*** to see what the problem was and she said the gown was falling off the shouldersMs*** stated that she could not understand why that would happen, given the numerous fittings but she should come in with the gown immediately and that she would make further alterations if necessaryMs*** declined stating that she would have it altered locally as she did not want to travel all the way back to Fall RiverMs*** even with out having the opportunity to see the dress again and as a reputable business owner, agreed to allow a refund of for the grievance related to the service providedAt this point, Ms*** believed that this matter was resolved fully, especially since she had offered to make any adjustments and had put in numerous extra hours on behalf of Ms***Mr*** then contacted Ms*** and indicated that they had the wedding gown altered locally and the cost was 230.00, in which he was requesting that Ms*** reimburse himMs*** indicated that she would not pay for reimbursement, as they had already received a refund from the credit card company in the amount of Upon Ms***'s refusal to refund any further monies, Mr***, who Ms*** never dealt with, became belligerent and threatened that he would ruin her reputation if she did not pay for additional alterationsAt that point, Ms*** ended the phone callMs*** charged only for the extensive repairs and alterations needed for this wedding gown that was purchased off the clearance rack and in torn and tattered stateMs*** provided four formal fittings and Ms*** picked it upon on January 11, and indicated that she was very pleased with the final resultThe invoice/receipt provided by Mr*** for the additional alterations he claimed were made to gown is not legible, a new invoice was requested and never providedMs*** has had an excellent reputation in the community for many yearsShe has never experienced this type of defamation of her through social media, as she has as a result of Mr***'s actionsMr*** who never saw the condition of the dress is requesting to reimbursed in the amount of 230.00, after already receiving a refund of 150.00, off the fee of All the while Ms***, along with her bridesmaids raved about the dress and expressed nothing but satisfactionIt seems that the only problem that occurred was when Mr*** got involvedMs*** provide fittings, which lasted an hourthis is in addition to altering the dress, cleaning the dress and then pressing itMs*** put in over hours for a discounted fee of 150.00`Ms*** received per hour and not until the several days after pick up, was she informed there was an issueShe offered to repair the issue and Ms*** informed that there was an issueShe offered to repair the issue and Ms*** informed her that would be inconvenient for her to travel to Fall River for further servicesFinally, Mr*** has no standing in this case and it is interesting that Ms*** has not been the individual that has attacked my client through social mediaI respectfully suggest that Ms.*** received more services than she paid for and that this matter should be concludedIf Ms*** continues to be defamed by Mr*** , we will be caused to take further action in the preservation of her good reputation in this areaThank you

We knew and were well aware that the dress was a floor sample and were promised by Alterations Express that the dress would be restored close to brand newIf this wasn't what we were promised, we would of proceeded to take our business elsewhereUpon the last fitting, there were still imperfections that needed to be fixed and measurements were taken to make sure that they were addressed and fixed for pickupOn the day the dress was picked up, Alterations Express acknowledged that it was not necessary to try on the dress one last time thus giving the impression that the alterations were finished and that the dress would fit as desired once taken out of the bag and put onOnce the dress was taken home, we came to the realization that there were still plenty of imperfections that hadn't been completedFor example, the bustle wasn't complete and did not connect, the top hadn't been taken in to the proper measurement like was promised, there were obvious beads missing from the front of the dress, and multiple visible holes in the lace that were promised to be fixed and weren'tLike what was mentioned before, the dress had to be taken to a local seamstress (which was *** ***'s bridal store) and had to be fixed thereThe owner *** had taken pictures to prove these imperfections were not completelyThe reason we were embursed only $was because the alterations express bill was and we wanted to pay Alterations Express for the "work" they had apparently done especially since they said they would take care of the new alterations bill once we had received it and sent it to them. Regards,Mr*** ***

I am sorry for a late response to this letterI actually thought my manager answered it onlineAs a small business owner especially in the special order Bridal Business we have to make policies that
protect us from brides who change their minds or cancelled weddingsOur policy when we do a special order for a customer is non refundable, non transferable half the deposit to the order their dress, which is standard in this industryWe understand sometimes circumstances change and sometimes the dress they order is not what they want so we do offer an exchange for that dress with a 20% restocking feeHowever this customer already purchased her dress elsewhere and did not want another bridal dress but wanted us to order her bridesmaids dresses with her depositThis falls under non- transferable deposit and I explained I could not transfer her deposit over to her bridesmaid

We responded via mail with the original form you have sent us in the mailPlease check mail

I am extremely disappointed with the way Alterations Express has dealt with us as customers traveling a long distance from home to give them our business. I can honestly say I've never had a worse experience with the way I've been treated. Here we are, a young couple about start the most wonderful journey of our lives, to start life together as husband and wife, surrounded by loving family that would share this beautiful day with us.  Our wedding is in 3 days and we couldn't be any happier! But then my lovely bride to be tries on her dress after just picking it up and in extreme shock she comes to find out that it doesn't even fit! Amongst the other extremely stressful things we had to deal with, here we face the worst of them all. The amount of stress and the weight of this burden that we now faced instantly came over and we honestly needed a miracle to happen. Once again I'm just so disappointed with how Alterations Express have dealt with us since then. We're not a greedy couple seeking to take advantage of a business! We're not dishonest people trying to work the system! We solely just want what was promised to us. We just wanted to look back at this and praise Alterations Express for helping us this whole time going through the most stressful time of our life despite what had happened on their part! But sadly we live in a world where people don't uphold their values and reputation and instead the victim won't ever see justice. ??It was stated that Mrs [redacted] would fix it immediately if we went back. Like I said earlier, that wasn't an option because we were 3 days away from our wedding and still had an extremely long distance to cover going there and then comming back. There was no way that would ever be possible with the time left that we had before our wedding day not to mention the other extremely important things we needed to make sure we're on track for the wedding day. ??During the conversation we had over the phone and after explaining the situation my wife and I had before us, Mrs [redacted] said she would reimburse the new alterations price within reason. She did state it wouldn't be reasonable if the price was for example $1,000 dollars which is understandable and I totally agree. As I mentioned before the new alterations bill was 230 and after receiving it she then went back on her word and stated she wouldn't reimburse us. ??The receipt had gotten ink stained. I told mrs [redacted] that if she didn't believe what the receipt said she can get in touch with the business who had done the new alterations. I even provided the name and number to the business. I never once had an opportunity from Mrs [redacted] to attain another receipt otherwise I would've gladly put the time and effort into doing so.??Never once did I make a threat to Mrs [redacted] or became belligerent. I explained her reputation would be ruined if she didn't properly handle the situation with a customer like myself because I personally would never do business again with her and I sure wouldn't recommend her to anyone I personally knew who was looking to get alterations done. Who would want to do business with someone who went against an agreement toward a customer???I don't appreciate being accused of defamation especially since I have never written anything on any type of social media defaming Mrs [redacted] or Alterations Express. As soon as this situation occurred I strictly sought professional help through the Revdex.com and  other professional avenues. ??Through photos of the dress before It was touched for alterations I did in fact see the defects of the dress and the condition that it was in prior to alterations and also saw the dress after the alterations. As [redacted]s husband I have every right to defend her and get involved especially since we're going through this together and these business dealings were taking place during my wedding which I was heavily involved in.Again I'm deeply saddened by how this business has treated my wife and I this entire time. It's really a shame that the first three months of our marriage we've had this trouble with Mrs [redacted] and Alterations Express hovering above our heads burdening us both. We just want this situation to be justified. Regards,
