[redacted]. Their website looks very much like a government site with blue and white background and red maple leaf logo on the top left.. I was a 100% certain to be on the official government passport renewal site, attempting a renewal of my passport. They charged me 165.00 Dollars plus taxes, totalling 186.45 for what I though was the passport renewal. After paying online, the red Maple leaf disappeared and the Passportonline,ca green logo came up. Wow! How clever! After receiving strange e-mails from a Ronald M. I became suspicious and called Passportonline.ca to cancel the process of my renewal. I was told that I was too late and that they had mailed the the passport renewal application forms already. Then I found out that the $186.45 fee was for the processing only and that I still had to pay a 160.00 to cover the passport renewal fee. I was outraged and asked them why Passportonline.ca is using a site format that dupes people into believing that they are on the official government site. He told me that it all was very legitimate and that I would have to open the disclaimer box. Needless to say, they got all their bases covered, there is nothing one can do after payment is made. They offered me to give me a $70.00 refund, unless I pursue [redacted] to refuse to pay, as then I would get zero dollars back, [redacted]. It turned out that [redacted] washed their hands by stating that I had okayed the transaction, which I did, but only because I did not realize that I had just had flushed 186.45 down the toilet. The next day I brought my printed out and filled out renewal form to the govern agency. There they encouraged me to file a complaint with the RCMP. The RCMP, again, and this is nothing new, told me to be more careful in the future, and that there was nothing they could do for me. Apparently, it is ok to pretend to be somebody else and [redacted] customers. I think that I am a reasonably intelligent person with a university degree that did not fall off the pumpkin truck. If I was duped, I hate to think how many more trusting Canadians are being had by this very questionable Passportonline.ca company. It just completely floors me that this is being tolerated and that no agency of authority is putting a stop to this. I hope you read this before giving these [redacted] your [redacted] #. By the way, the fastest, cheapest and most securest way to renew your passport is still the old fashion way. If you decide to use Passportonline.ca, be prepared to pay more, to lengthen the process and do things twice, [redacted]!

On December 30, I applied to renew my husbands and my Canadian passports using the simplified renewal process. I received two separate emails from a company called "passportonline.ca" and they charged my Visa a fee of $186.45 each (one charge for me and one for my husbands renewal). I have not received any services for the fees and have asked that my Visa be reimbursed in an email message that I sent them on Friday January 6. I have reported this to the Service Canada Passport Renewal site as well.
