So far so good!
Kory from Patio Covers of Idaho Unlimited handled the sales portion of the process. He said that it would be about 10 weeks until work could begin. He was very pleasant and informative and work began right when he said it would. The installation was completed by John and Rusty and they did a great job. They were friendly, polite, and cleaned up the area after finishing up. The final result looks great!

The company installed an all-season room at our house. Installation was completed on 7/12/19. When Rod sold us the room he touted their lifetime warranty. Yesterday we found that the interior pane of glass on one of the double-paned windows is cracked from top to bottom. I sent the company an email on 12/22/19 requesting they come out and repair it. This morning, 12/23, Angela R wrote back "I’m sorry, but we don’t replace cracked or broken glass. You will have to contact a glass company."

This is not a matter of us having broken the window. This window cracked on its own. It should be covered under warranty of Patio Covers Unlimited and/or the window manufacturer (we don't know the manufacturer of the windows but regardless that warranty would go to Patio Covers since they bought them for the project).

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response • Dec 24, 2019

We contacted the customer the same day she called and let her know that, even though we had no obligation to do so, we would go ahead and replace the glass as a generous gesture of customer service.

Broken glass is NEVER included in any sort of window warranty. If the window had been broken when it was installed, the customer would have contacted us months ago.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I do want to note that, contrary to what Angela continues to try and imply, we did not break the glass. As far as her stating that we would have called them months ago, It must have had a crack when it was installed but it was small and not noticeable until it spread from the top to the bottom of the window when the weather got cold.

Also, prior to my filing the complaint with the Revdex.com, Angela definitively refused to repair the glass. After that response, I saw no reason to wait any further to file the complaint. It was hours after I filed the complaint, and only after I contacted the owner of the company directly, that she emailed me back to say that the owner had instructed her to tell us they would in fact repair it.

Sincerely

We sent our technician to resolve the issue.

In 04/19 we contracted with Patios unlimited t0 complete a patio cover and was asked for a payment of half the cost which was $1600,00 we were promised that work would began the first week in June. My check cleared my bank on 04/12/19 . The work has not yet started we have called many times but only get excuses. The last time we called we told them to cancel and refund our money. We have not yet received the refund?

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response • Aug 24, 2019

Mr *** contracted with us to add on to an existing patio cover. Unfortunately, we were trying to match the previous color and had difficulty getting the color in. When he told us that we didn't want to wait any longer, we processed a full refund and sent it to him on August 16th.

We met with Rod R, owner of Patio Covers Unlimited on May 31, 2019. His company was one of several we spoke to about a patio cover. He started by saying he was not looking for business, in fact, he was getting ready to slow way down and he was taking in very little new business. He said he just didn't need it and wanted to spend more time playing golf. He seemed sincere. Then he bashed one of the other companies we mentioned that we were talking to. We set that aside, liked what we heard and purchased a patio cover. We said we wanted our patio cover installed by July 1. He said that would be tight, but he was pretty sure he could do it. A week later he recanted and said maybe a 50-50 chance of getting it done. A week later he said no way. He said there was a problem getting materials from his supplier. We believed him. He offered to install the patio cover in mid-July, but we were not going to be in town so we scheduled an appointment for August 1, with the installation person to arrive between 7 and 8 AM. I waited until 8:30 to call. He said there was no way, he had all kinds of materials problems and he said he just couldn't do it. I asked why they didn't call to inform us of the delay. He said it was on the wrong calendar and he missed it. I explained that I had paid for this over 2 months ago and he became very angry, cursing and yelling into the phone at me. He said he would just give me my money back if I wasn't happy. I said I'd let him know. I called him back within 2 minutes to let him know I wanted my money back but he was "out of the office". I did speak to his office person who said she would let him know I called. I called three more times, explaining my situation to her, I even emailed her my receipt asking for a refund. 48 hours later, I did receive a refund. I would never recommend this company or anyone doing business with Rod R. He was unprofessional, angry, spewing with, and apparently promised what he could not deliver and he never contacted me back.

I hired this company to install a new patio cover. I made a deposit in Aug 2017 but they didn't start/complete the work until spring 2018. It took a long time but was finally completed. The problem is that EVERY time it rains I get big puddles from leaks right outside of my door (making it that much more difficult to enjoy the rest of the cover that actually works). I call them almost every time it does and they tell me that someone will come out to take a look at it when it stops raining (understandable). They told me several times that they came out but I never saw them. Finally the guy that came out, Justin, said that he had been going to the wrong house.
After several visits and even more phone calls, drips on our heads and a year later, I still have a leak. I understand that it's hard to tell where the leaks are when it's dry so I even took a video of the leak 2 months ago and emailed it to them. the response was that it would be forwarded and to have a nice weekend.......Today I still hadn't heard anything so I called to talk to the owner. Candice told me that Rod would be available after 12 and she would ask him to call me. I told her that I expected to hear back from him by the end of the day, and that didn't happen. I'm tired of being ignored and brushed aside. The job wasn't cheap and all I really want is to have the leak fixed once and for all! I don't understand how that is so difficult.

Ms. repair was completed on July 15th.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID. They did come to my home and do some caulking on the roof again. I'm not comfortable saying that the work is satisfactory until it rains and I have a chance to see if it still leaks. (They have been to my home many times in dry weather and all looks well only to have a leak in the rain.)

Sincerely

Contracted patio cover installation was not done according to manufactures specifications nor to Ada County structural building code. All attempts by the customer to have Patio Covers Unlimited repair the partially collapsed and damaged structure and bring it up to code requirements have been rebuffed. The manufacturer and a structural engineer have stated in writing that the cover was not constructed to code. We are delving into what specs were given by the contractor to the county building inspector.
We have been forced to hire an installer to remove the structure and rebuild it with the structural steel supports required to make it safe and up to code. The cost to accomplish this is $6,000 that we expect PCU to reimburse us this cost.

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response • Jun 20, 2019

This patio cover was installed by Patio Covers Unlimited of Southern Idaho sometime in 2015. After the extreme snow storm that Boise experienced in late 2016/early 2017, Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho was contacted by many people, some our customers and some that had patio covers built by other companies, stating that their patio covers or awnings had been damaged as a result of the heavy snow. The weight of the snow that year exceeded the weight allowed in our engineering. Because of that, a large number of patio covers and carports either collapsed or had minor damage such as bent beams, rafters or posts.
John *** contacted our office on May 3rd2017 and Rod met with him and Ms. at their home on May 8 to inspect the patio cover. The only damage was the bent 2x6 that isn’t structural, only decorative. The structural beam is the 3x8 that was not damaged at all. We gave her an estimate to submit to her insurance company as the repair would be covered under her home owners insurance.
After much discussion and argument from them regarding the cost to repair, Rod said that he would pay for the installation if they would pay for the new product. It was a fair offer that was refused by Mr. and Ms..
To my knowledge, the manufacturer did not visit the site to inspect the patio cover to see if it was built to their specification. But this was clearly a result of the large amount of heavy snow that was sitting on top of their patio cover. It appears, from the picture, that they made no attempt to remove the snow that was accumulating and was getting heavier by the day as we were having melting and refreezing or more snow frequently throughout that period.
We tried to make this right but our offers at any sort of a compromise were rejected by the homeowners. We will not be paying them to rebuild a patio cover that didn’t need to be rebuilt. To reiterate, we offered to replace the damaged parts at our cost if they would just pay for the parts that we had to order.

We hired this company for a concrete patio expansion and patio cover in Feb. 2018 and deposited 1/2 down for the job to begin sometime in May. The concrete portion of the job went great and the crew was fantastic, although the job didn't start until later June. However, like many of the negative reviews, we encountered problems with late construction of the patio cover which a different crew assembled. They had many excuses about being backed up on jobs and materials. Upon final completion of the job in August the county inspector came out to sign off on the job only to discover that they had not installed a main support beam that is supposed to be inserted into the main wrap support on the front of the cover. Additionally, they had not installed the metal pole inserts that go inside the wrap kit that holds the whole thing up. Since we took photos during the whole process our photos showed they had not installed the cover properly so the county inspector would not sign off on the job. So, until the job was cleared by the inspector we considered the job unfinished and withheld final payment until they came out and finished the job. They came out and finished the job. Here's the funny part...one guy actually boasted "we've been doing this for 16 years...." I replied, "if that were so then why are you here completing work that should have been done in the first place?". So our advice...go somewhere else, or hold on to your money until you get final inspection to clear otherwise your insurance may not cover any damage cause by shoddy work.

In Feb. 2018 I hired Patio Covers to enlarge & enclose my partially covered patio porch. The owner agreed they would enlarge, enclose the porch creating a sun room complete with windows, doors, Trex stairways with handrails. It took them more than 5 months to almost complete my project but they have not constructed those essential handrails. Both the state and county where I live, (Idaho & Canyon County) specify (IRC code), that handrails are required when stairways are more than 22-in with 4 risers or more. On my project, they constructed steep outside stairs that are 36 inches & 5 risers. They assured me many many times they would be back to construct the handrails over the many months. I've not heard from them since I had a problem in Oct., but I've already paid them. I'm in my late 70's, so it is imperative these handrails be constructed. I use the stairways several times a day. Those stairs are slippery when wet, the weather will change quickly & ice or snow will become a real problem for me.

We've completed the handrail installation that was requested by Ms..

Our new patios were just completed and we are way beyond pleased. The hard part was the wait, but there is a lot of building going on in the Treasure Valley. Justin and Rod were prompt, efficient and creatively solved problems/challenges due to existing structures as they were building. We are very happy and highly recommend them. They thoroughly cleaned up the work area before leaving too. Be sure to plan ahead...the wait is worth the result. Will use them again!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate your patience and are so pleased that you are happy with the final product! Here's to many years of enjoyment on your new patios!

We had an excellent experience with this company . They built a patio and installed a retractable awning. From the owners, to the office staff, to the people completing the work, we found everyone to be courteous and helpful. We had to coordinate this project with other landscaping work and we found this company willing to be flexible and work well with others.
Great people!

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response • Apr 25, 2018

Thank you so much for your kind words. You were both amazing to work with. Enjoy your new patio!

Patio Covers Unlimited was contracted on 7/21/2017 to build a patio cover and pour a new concrete slab. The completion time agreed to on the estimate was 10-12 weeks. After many months going back and forth with the company they have only poured the new concrete slab which was done on 12/15/2017, almost two months after the whole thing was to be done. Now I am being told that they can't get the material to install the patio cover because they can't get a hold of their supplier. I have paid $2700 already of a total of $5400 and have received about $1300 worth of work. I have Incurred lost vacation days and other time off due to taking this time to be home only to have them cancel the day before.

We've apologized to our client and appreciate his patience. We have completed Mr. patio cover and he seems be pleased with the final product.

I had Patio Covers Unlimited out to give an estimate on 2/4/17. I decided to hire them to install an awning for me. On 2/13/17 they processed a payment for $2800.00 for the required 50% deposit. It was a busy time of year for them and parts had to be ordered so it was mid May when they came to install the awning. They processed the remaining payment on 5/16/17 for $2936.62 when they considered the work was completed. I however disagree that the work is complete and have placed numerous calls and left messages with no response. For starters the complaint I have is I never received a breakdown of the final invoice, which was requested. Second I was to have 3 fan beams installed, I can provide pictures showing a fully enclosed awning. I have no idea where the beams are do they run north/south, east/west, is there a electrical boxes already cut beneath the surface for the fans (or was the wrong awning installed)? Someone did come out while I was at work one day and put a sticky note on the ceiling which tells me nothing. Then to top it all off I recently climbed on my roof to see if I was missing any shingles from the last wind storm we had and I discovered they didn't install the gutter covers as agreed upon. I also noticed it doesn't appear that the gutter closest to the roof line has any source of drainage, so the water is going to collect with no where to go and cause all kinds of problems this winter. I went online and it appears there are many reviews that this company doesn't return calls. I guess from now on I will check the work to make sure they provide me the product and services I pay for. I trusted that they had completed everything. I have pictures that I can provide to better describe the issues. I didn't see anywhere to upload them.

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response

I replied to our customer with the following: I apologize that you feel that we didn't complete your installation to your satisfaction. I did receive a service request that you needed to know where the fan beams were located and I have a notice that the installer went out and marked which panels that fan beams were located. I didn't know anything about missing gutter covers.
I can schedule another time for the installer to come out and mark the fan beams, install the gutter cover and check to make sure there is proper drainage on the gutter. Please let me know a day and time of day that works best for you and I will work it in to our schedule next week.

I have also attached a copy of a paid in full invoice.

I compared Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho with another company offering the same product (awning cover). I chose Patio Covers due to their experience as a company, and regret my decision. I received an estimate on March 30th, and paid the down payment April 4th. I was told they were scheduling installs 8-9 weeks out. Well, we finally got our awning July 14th. About 3 months later. This isn't the worst part of the experience. I made no less than 11 phone calls trying to get answers. Often, I simply received no response. Other times, I was told I would get a call back, but did not. When I mentioned this to a certain person in the office, she said she did call me back. I beg to differ as I kept track of each and every phone call. I'm hoping the workmanship is good (it hasn't rained yet) as I dread having to call them back to fix something. The awning looks nice. The customer service and communication was terrible. I wish I'd gone with the other company. The icing on the cake was their call to me a business day later asking for payment. I do my bills over the weekend and the check was already mailed when I received a SECOND call asking for payment. Apparently the phone only works when they want money. Very disappointing.

The insulated patio cover that was installed by Patio Covers Unlimited leaks at the seams when it rains. Since last fall, I have contacted Patio Covers Unlimited on numerous occasions, have spoken with Candyce, Angela, and lastly Liz. Each time I call, I get the same response: she needs to check the schedule and call me back. Never a call back. On July 24, 2017, I called again, and Liz gave the same answer, this time promising a call back by the following day, but again, nothing. I have given them the benefit of the doubt thinking they fixed it while I was at work, but when it rains, it becomes obvious that it has not been fixed. It appears that the seal on the seam has broken or was not done properly to begin with. The harsh winter we had this year has no doubt worsened the leaks, a situation that was avoidable had they responded in a timely fashion. There is a second problem, a gap between the cover and the roof which creates a small waterfall onto my deck that I would like to talk with them about fixing but cannot do so since they will not call back.

We have been in contact with Ms. and thought that her service had already been completed. We have her scheduled for a follow-up appointment to ensure that her concerns have been addressed. We will update as soon as we meet with her on Monday November 6th.

I purchased a patio in August of 2016 and paid nearly 10,000.00 dollars for it. I was told the weight load capability was no less than 25lbs per sqft. As winter came the beam buckled from the weight of the snow. We did have a harsh winter (above normal amount of snow ). Never the less I have contacted patios unlimited about the issue in Feb. 2017 for a estimate or to see if my awning was under warranty. They said it was not. So I proceeded to get an estimate and was told they were 8 weeks out on install. Well now it's July 3rd 2017 and they have yet to contact me or return my emails. I am disappointed in the product and the lack customer service.

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response

Mr. contacted us in February and let us know that his beam had been damaged. He didn't let us know that he wanted it replaced until April and by that time we were 10 to 12 weeks out on any installations, including repairs. I understand his frustration and I wish we could be get to his project earlier, but we are working as fast as we can to get to everyone. We have told him that we will contact him as soon as we have him on the schedule.

Bid for snow load damage roof-repair was 01-09-17. Patio Covers Unlimited was the company that built the original patio cover years prior, so I chose them for the repairs. The insurance check arrived and I called PCU in March to schedule repair date -- a deposit was requested. I replied I didn't normally pay for something before it was completed and I was told it was "for materials," and that I would be notified when materials came in.

PCU received $1000.00 deposit from my Visa March 24, 2017. A month later, late April, I hadn't heard back yet so I called again; this time she DENIED saying the deposit was for materials but instead was to "secure the bid" so people wouldn't bail on them at the last minute. She gave me estimated date May 22, 2017.

A letter, dated May 25th from PCU apologized and listed several reasons/excuses causing delays -- one of which was lack of qualified trained personnel. The letter asked for continued patience. I waited until June 15th 2017 to call and inquire on the status, the progress, and ETA. I received NO RETURN CALL. I wrote a letter that night.

In my 06-15-17 letter I asked for an immediate refund of the $1000.00 charged to my Visa 3 months earlier. I expressed discontent for being lied to initially to procure my deposit, not calling me to keep me updated, being strung along when I had to call them, their letter expressing the lack of qualified workers, and being given the silent treatment -- I'd lost confidence in the company's ability and integrity -- very unhappy about the way I'd been treated. I want my $1000.00 returned to me. My money and I are being held hostage to suit their needs when a deposit should never have been requested until PCU was prepared to produce service.

Patio Covers Unlimited of Idaho Response

I have apologized to Ms. for her perception that our company has lied to her with regards to her deposit. A deposit is necessary for us to order her product, but also to secure her place in our queue. We went to her home in January to assess the damage from the snow and provide her with an estimate for the repairs. Between the time that we provided the estimate and the time that she ordered, we received over a hundred orders, pushing the schedule for her repair out several months.

We alerted our customers as to our delays and let them all know that we would contact them within a week of their installation date and apologized for the inconvenience. We have not excuse for not returning a phone call, and I apologized to her for that.

The last thing we want is an unhappy customer, unfortunately, this year has been very unusual and the amount of work that needs to be done with the limited number of workers available has put an incredible strain on everyone in the construction business. We are doing our best to get to everyone in a timely manner, but completely understand Ms. frustration and have issued her a full refund of her deposit.

Patio covers unlimited did a fantastic job on our carport after this rough winter. They did what they promised,on time and budget. Good comunication. Would use again and definitely recommend.

What follows is the timeline regarding the agreement between Patio Covers Unlimited and myself for repair to my carport.

2/27/2017 Patio Covers Unlimited comes to my home to inspect damage to carport due to heavy snow load
Bid of $1800.00 is given and accepted
Approximate installation timeline of 6 to 8 weeks is given and accepted
I authorize my American Express card to be used for the full $1800.00

2/28/2017 Patio Covers Unlimited calls me regarding failure of American Express to go through
Correct billing address is given to individual on the telephone

2/28/2017 $1800.00 is posted to my American Express account on behalf of Patio Covers Unlimited

3/17/2017 American Express is paid $1800.00 on behalf of Patio Covers Unlimited

5/5/2017 I called Patio Covers Unlimited to inquire as to when installation would be done
I was told that the materials were scheduled to arrive the following Monday
I was told that the installation was scheduled for Thursday, 5/11/2017

5/11/2017 Patio Covers Unlimited called to let me know that installation would not take place that day as the crew was running behind on another job

5/12/2017 I called Patio Covers Unlimited to ask if they would be out that day and was told that they would not as they were too busy

5/18/2017 I emailed Patio Covers Unlimited seeking either a refund or a firm installation date and received no answer.

As a long-time customer of Patio Covers Unlimited (they installed a covered front porch, a carport, and a patio cover at my daughter’s home for me) I am appalled not so much by how long this is taking but by their failure to communicate with me.
