To Whom It May Concern:  We Received Mr. [redacted] (Land Rover) Vehicle In Our Facility For A Draw On The Charging System, Resulting In Him Having To Disconnect Battery Cable And Then Jump Vehicle To Get Running.  While We Were Testing Vehicle For Electrical Draw The Vehicles Symptoms...

Finally Worsened And Vehicle Would Not Start.  We Continued Testing For Draw, And Concluded That The Vehicles Battery Was Never Being Drained Or Had Any Type Of Draw. We Then Spent Many Hours Inside The Vehicle Testing The Starting Circuit That Is Located On The Inside Of The Vehicle.   We Spoke With Customer And Stated Needed Vehicle Longer For Testing On The Starting Circuit.  Upon Testing Of Starting Circuit It Was Determined That One Of Two Modules In The Land Rover Was Not Supplying A Ground Circuit To The Starter Relay Upon Turning Ignition Key To Start Vehicle.  We Then Informed Mr. [redacted] Of The Findings And That We Are Not Capable Of Programming Land Rover Modules, And That Vehicle Must Be Taken To The Dealer To Have Repairs Performed.   Since This Was The Result Of Our Many Hours Of Testing Electrical Systems To Diagnose Vehicle.  We Told Customer There Would Be No Charge For Our Time Rendered Since The Vehicle Needed To Go To The Dealer.  It Was Unfortunate That We Were Not Able To Perform Repairs Needed To Get Vehicle Back On The Road For Mr. [redacted].  Unfortunately Land Rover Vehicles Take Very Specific Programming Specifications And As A Small Repair Facility We Do Not Have Access To These Specific Programs.  Thank You And Wish Them The Best.

Hello, in fact the Engine Control Unit also known as "Engine Control Module", is indeed the problem this vehicle has and one of the two we suspected. This was also informed to vehicle owners. Chances are that once replaced, the need to jump the vehicle or disconnect the battery will not happen any more. This is the original issue. What might have been found in the vehicle happens to be from our online based professional resources. If looked at closely it may even have the test procedures which lead us to these answers. We left you, the customers, the option to go further with charges to tell you which of those two modules are the cause, knowing that we could not replace them here. Again this has to be done at the dealer so we referred you and charged you nothing, to try and help you out. This all just confirms that we were correct in our diagnostics, we also informed you that it would not be a cheap repair, again, why there were no charges from us. Not to repeat my original response but again, the problem just progressed to a full no start rather than an intermittent no start. We are absolutely not responsible for the break down of your vehicle.
Thank You,
Jeff

Pat's says they did not cause any further damage to the vehicle than there was when I brought it in, but the fact remains that is was starting with a jump at the very least.  They claim there was one of two modules that was the issue with the ignition, however, I have taken it to a LandRover dealer and am not being told anything about any module having to do with the ignition.  I am being told, my engine control unit is out, meaning there is no communication from the computer to the engine, which was working when I dropped it off at Pats.  Also, upon clearing out my vehicle to drop it off at the LandRover mechanic, I found the attached paper that was obviously left by Pats from when they had my vehicle.  It is dated on 1/7/15 the exact day I dropped it off with them.  The paper contains internet searched solutions and instructions on how to repair the vehicle, which is proof they didn't know what they were doing, but decided to experiment on my vehicle anyway.  When they found themselves searching the internet for solutions and instructions, that should have been their clue that this issue was beyond their capabilities, however, they continued to experiment on my vehicle and wound up giving me my vehicle in worse condition than when it was left with them.  This issue went from being a minor repair to a major repair that is going to cost me well over $2000.  Pat's needs to own up to their mistake, show integrity as a business, and be held responsible for the added damages that have been caused to my vehicle.  I have children that depend on that vehicle to get to school and all they cared about was the money that they were going to potentially make by working on my vehicle.  Now I have to take my children out in the early morning in 40 degree cold weather just to make sure my son makes it to school on time.  Trust me I would much rather have my vehicle and have to jump it every time I need it rather than be out of a vehicle all togethe.

Review: Took my car in for starting problems. Sometimes it would start no problem, and other times it needed to be jumped to start, but it started every time and once it started it had no problems. Something seemed to be draining the battery so I took it to Pat's because of all the good reviews. I drove my car there (It started fine) and left it; end of the day I still have not heard from Pat's so I call and I'm told they have it hooked up to the machine and are testing it, to give them a couple of hours and they will call me back. Couple hours later, still have not heard from them but I give it another hour or so before I call when I call I am told it has something to do with the ignition and they are trying to narrow it down so if they do not call me by 6pm they will call me by 9am the next day. 9am came and went and still no call from Pat's, so before I call I drive by and see my car sitting in front of the work area all closed up not being worked on so I call to find out an update. The person says they have it narrowed to 2 modules and a bunch of mumbo jumbo that he knew I wouldn't understand, but now I know he had no idea what he was talking about. At the end of our conversation he said it needed to be taken to the dealer and he wasn't charging me for diagnosis to give him an hour or two to put it all back together. Im thinking I just drove by and my car wasn't even being worked on so by this time I was so confused and had no faith in them. I show up to pick up my car a couple hours later and then and only then do they inform me that my car isn't starting at all now and hasn't been since the day prior. Then Jeff looks me in my eyes and tells me whatever the problem is probaby just finally took full effect. I had talked to Justin at least 3 times and my husband talked to him once since dropping it off and no one ever mentioned that our car wasn't starting at all anymore, this was the first we had heard this. My car shouldn't be in worse condition than when I took it inDesired Settlement: I would like them to pay for the damages they caused at a business of my choice because they did something wrong for it not be starting at all anymore. They should have admitted they did not know how to work on my car (Landrover) rather than claiming they did. I drove my car in to them and had to have it towed out of there.
