Patten's Martial Arts Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
This is not the first complaint about Patten's Martial Arts, there is a complaint on Yelp for this company as well I have never filed a complaint to the Revdex.com before. I am doing it because I think it is wrong to charge for a child who stopped attending. This is not a contract on the attendance of an adult. The child no longer had time because he got a job his first job, which is not a bad thing. If they don't want to fix this, I want there to be a record of this complaint and that there is no resolution. I want a record of their business practices. After the child stopped attending, they didn't try to work things out or reach out to get him to go in March or April or May or June or July. This is about what their contract allows them to do. They can keep collecting even if a child stops attending. There is no incentive to retain a child because they can keep collecting whether or not the child attends. I was also informed by *** *** *** that if you don't call them to cancel they will keep charging you after the contract is over for who knows how long. What she does not mention about my previous call to try to resolve the issue is that she laughed at me and told me I should have read the contract I thought she was rude, not the other way around I was shocked. Yes, the father was planning to do lessons after the surgery, but the doctor said he could not do martial arts for months after the surgery. So their plan for a bonding activity they planned did not work either, but I didn't mention that because there was no contract on the father. Bottom line: They rendered services to the child for 25% of time, and continue to collect even though they have not seen the child in months. Perhaps it is a great place for some or even many (I am not disputing other's experience) I want to document our experience. If your child stops going....$per month and counting...for nothing.
Regards,

We have been the owners of Patten's Martial Arts since 1995. We have never had a complaint with the Revdex.com. We do our best everyday to treat all of our students and families as professionally as possible. We love our students and their families. Over the years, we have trained
thousands of students and over students to black belt (and growing). We currently have students who have been training for more than years. Countless students have trained or currently train while dealing with the challenges of multiple responsibilitiesUsing contracts is a common practice in martial arts schools/health and fitness facilities. We have been using contracts for the years that we have been in businessWhen new students are in their free trial month, we inform them that we are a long term program (average is years to get to black belt) and we do one year contracts and they can cancel during the first days after signing the contract. This is how we have enrolled every student in our school. Students and families have to decide whether they want to make the commitment or notThis student's father brought him in and he began his trail month in 10/2014. He enjoyed his trial month and his father signed the contract dating 11/20/14-11/20/15. The student continued his training and got his yellow belt on 2/14/2015. We accomitdated the student's schedule by allowing him to test on a different day than our belt testing day due to his work schedule and praised him for working. On multiple occassions, the student's father said that after his knee surgery he was going to try classes himself. During this time we never met or saw this student's motherThe student's mother called in spring said that they wanted to cancel because of his job. We told her that her son was doing a great job in his classes and we enjoy having him as a student. When we reminded her that they signed a one year contract that could not be cancelled she proceeded to be very rude. We thought the matter had been resolvedWe are proud of our business and the integrity in which we run it and the service that we have provided to our students and the community of Loveland
