I was contracted by *** and *** for their wedding in Dec We had negotiated to do their wedding which included myself as the main photographer and a second photographer to get pick up shots of the guestsIn addition, I provided a videographer to film the event and also get some
interviews with guests (dedications and speeches) in order to provide a highlight reel of their event (of minutes) to their musicIn addition, I performed photography for hours at their bridal shower on a separate dateI was to provide editing for pictures I selected for both events, in addition to editing for the minute clip from the raw videosI also was to provide the raw pictures as well as raw footage for the client to do with as they wishedAs a note, the bride described herself as a self-proclaimed “bride-zilla” and at the time I was under the impression she was joking. They were both very pleased with the bridal shower pictures, and I gave specific direction as to what was required for me to shoot at the wedding, in as far as ample lighting and a schedule allowing for pictures that *** was looking to recreate outdoorsUnfortunately, the bridal party took extra hours on the day of the wedding, causing us to miss the sunlight completely and forcing us to rush to the venue for the ceremony from the hotelI insisted we take some pictures at the hotel so that we did not miss a group shot which we took two of before I was told we needed to stop and go to the venueAt the venue, we took more than pictures of all the guests with the bride and groom as well as covered the ceremony and all of the dances, décor, and group shotsDuring the point in time, the bridemaids were largely unavailable, though I was able to get them together for a couple group pictures that the bride had requestedThe groomsmen on the other hand were all together more of the time and were more receptive to doing group shotsAll in all, there were many group pictures as well as pictures with a majority of the guestsWe were similarly able to get great footage of the guests making dedications as well as miccing the guests who gave speeches and getting all the main parts of the wedding (ceremony, first dances, cake cutting, etc.)We stayed two extra hours for the wedding for which I paid my second photographer and videographer extra to cover more of the event since it was running behind. After the wedding was completed, I sent some highlight pictures to the bride and groom that evening so they had media for their *** pagesI also offered, free of charge, a make up shoot for their couple shots which were missed due to their being late for their ceremony, which they accepted and were grateful forUpon receiving the pictures they praised the photos and communicated how happy they were with everything (via email) and how they had recommended me to their friends because they felt the shots were extraordinaryThey proceeded to post the pictures on social media and received many compliments on how “amazing” the pictures lookedThey’re still utilizing those pictures presently as their profile pictures and continuing to get likes and comments. months later I sent them a bulk of highlight pictures on a *** Drive folder and made a request for the music to use for the edit of the videoThe remainder of the pictutres was sent months later in addition to RAW imagesThis is due to the fact that there were more than 350+ pictures that were to be edited out of pictures total*** (bride) saw at this time that there were more pictures there were of the groomsmen than of the bridesmaids, and wasn’t pleased with thisShe also claimed that her nose was featured in an unflattering light, that there was only one group picture of their entire wedding party (there were 4) , no pictures of the guests (there were pictures of guests at tables and 20+ of guests with them), that no pictures were touched up (I touched up pictures and even offered to touch up any others that she wanted to have touched up free of charge), no pictures of her kids (there are 20+ pictures of her with her kids and her kids solo), that in one of the group pictures a child had snuck in the back of the picture, that in of the group pictures one person was not looking at the camera (not the same person, but one out of 15+ people which I cautioned them about multiple times), and that she didn’t like the backgrounds for some of the pictures (the event was held in an American Legion Hall). The main thing the bride was upset about was not having any solo shots with her parents and the couples shots, which I repeatedly told her were supposed to be taken outside and weren’t able to due to the bridal party being late (which she conceded on the night of the wedding)This is the reason I offered a make up shoot to capture these images, and I felt badly about this even though it was through no fault of my ownWhen I explained this to her, she seemed belligerently defiant “I don’t care if I was lateMy wedding, my day” Unfortunately there was no reasoning with her and even after showing proof of pictures she claimed weren’t there, she seemed unaffected and just wanted to get her money backThroughout this process, her husband was apologetic, even saying that he felt it was due to the fact that there were more pictures of the groomsmen and she was “jealous”While I strive to make sure my clients are happy, it seems that the bride was intent on finding “reasons” for getting her money backShe then proceeded to threaten to sue me, and report me to the Revdex.com unless I refunded her $out of $for the two events and after having paid another photographer and videographer for their hours of workI had attempted to rectify the situation offering to make up the shoot of her and her husband and even her family. In addition, I never received the list of music that they were looking to use and they had said to deliver them the raw footage instead so I had stopped working on the edit of the videoI would happily finish the video if they send me the list of music and that stands to this dayI would also happily do their makeup shoot as we agreed to. Unfortunately, this claim is not forthright and is very inconsistent with the messages she had been sending me on how happy she was with all the pictures only to have her retract those statements if there was a chance to get $back
