My mother has dementia (82 years old )[redacted] Plumbing replaced a toilet on August 8th, 2012. She was complaining about the toilet afterwards but could not remember what she did with the paperwork/receipt and I did not locate it until now. They installed a toilet which clearly sits on crooked. The tank sits over two inches from the wall on one side, and a 1/4 of inch on the other. In addition, it was never bolted to the floor, so when you sit on it, it shifts. Although the receipt indicates that they caulked the toilet and bolted it to the floor, this was NEVER done. I contacted the company and spoke to [redacted] who was very rude and said my mother signed the paperwork and that there was nothing I could do and to go ahead and contact you and take them to small claims. My mother cannot see clear enough to read! There is no way she could read the paperwork, and they obvious took advantage of her. They charged her $490.00 and just connected running water to the toilet and left. I explained to them that she is very ill and I wanted to call them first and give them an opportunity to rectify the issue first. The owner was extremely rude and told me to "Go Ahead and do whatever you want"!!!! I am sick and tired of companies taking advantage of senior citizens. I have had legal and durable power of attorney since 2008 for my mother due to her dementia and eyesight. I am not one to complain but this is ridiculous. I recently had a licensed contractor look at the toilet and he said that the toilet was either installed by someone who didnt care, or didn't know what they were doing. In addtion, he said that she was GROSSLY over charged. I am saddened by the fact that senior citizens are being taken advantage like this. I could not believe the arrogance of [redacted] and how he could care less about even trying to correct the situation. In addition, Paul said that someone must have removed the caulk& unbolted the toilet from the floor since then! No one has serviced the toilet & she lived alone
