I am rejecting this response because: The place of business can try to justify anything. I stand on my original complaint. All they want to do is do more work, charge more money, and complete the work when they feel ready to. I shouldn't have to pay for their research. I took it to them because they stated they knew the car. Bottom line is unauthorized work was performed, I was overcharged and no parts were returned to me and they even stated to me that some parts were received in worse condition than original leading me to believe that not all parts were changed and I paid for it.  I was told by Paul Sr. that 2 mos isn't bad considering he has had cars up to 8 mos. The clutch is to tight, and differential is whining which it did not before and they believe I should pay to have them rebuild it. If they wouldn't have touched it, it would not be a problem. I should not have to take it back to them so they can build the bill more and no telling when I'll ever see it again. It's a shame that mechanics are allow to take advantage of people like this and get away with it!

Discussion based on customers complaint/issues On 05/17/17 We called [redacted] at his day cont ct number at about 2:30pm.. and attempted to find out what we could do to make it acceptable for him.He said that he wanted to have another party work on it and have us pay for it. I explained that we...

need to look at it and determine what it needs, do some adjustments that I initially told him we would need. to do after some break-in period. He refused ally offer and said that he would take it to court. 1) "Work Performed without authorization" Customer brought in vehicle for the first time on 03113/2017 We discussed with Mr. Weist the repairs/concerns that he expressed were. Carb/running issues-We told him that we could not know cost arlinount until we tore down and inspected. We called him and told him what needed to be done and a couple other items we noticed that the vehicle needed. To which he agreed( and loqed on. the invoice). As the job continued I called him and let him know of approximate costs and the issues that we were faced with. lie picked up the vehicle on 3/24/17. 2) "Overcharged for work not performed." First, I'm not sure I know what this means. We charged for only the time/labor and parts used. 3) "Wm provided with no evidence that work was even performed or what parts were used." Mr Weist visited the shop several times and was directed to see his car and shown the work and the parts that were worn and requiring replacement. Most of the parts used were required to be sent back for core exchanges. He was shown most of them in the shop during the process. 4) "They worked on car when they wanted too. and worked on what they wanted too" I had explained to him before he brought thi vehicle in that working on the old antique cars is something I really enjoy but I work on therri at my pace. First because of the age and issues that are inherent to old cars(rust, seized parts, selverely worn parts. hard to find parts, etc.) It many times takes special procedures and often a I4it of time researching_ locating. and obtaining these parts, Also time and labor modifying. refurbiishing parts that are not obtainable. Some parts or issues take some research and time to find a soiution(inspiration). Often during these times waiting there is nothing you can do to the v hicle. 5) "No estimate given" Refer to 41 6) "Would return car when asked on numerous occasions" Again, I'm not sure what this statement means. I do remember him asking to have his car back, when I was waiting on part,; and the car was disassembled with 3 different supports and could not be moved until some parts arrived and I stalled. 7) "No rates posted" Rates arc posted in customer area as per B R regulations. 8) "Would give itemized bill till bill was paid in full" Again statement is questionable- presume he left out the word "not". As per the BAR regulations the itemized parts are required on the final bill. 9) "Took over 2 mos." According to the invoices dates of initiating and payment dates, the first invoice of repairing the carburation was started on 3/13/2017 and completed on 03/24/17. and the last repair order was initiated on 03/30/2017 and completed on 05/03/2017. 10) "Car is still not working" Not sure what he is referring to. We have discussed the clutch smell- I explained that there would be some break-in period and we should have it back soon to inspect and adjust. 11) "Damage done to differential and not working properly." We discussed the noise in the rear differential. He had requested that we put a pinion seal in to stop the oil leak. During this proceedure we found that the pinion nut and pinion was very loose. Indicating severe wear in the differetial. At this time the only options were to tear down the rear differential and inspect for needs or, we could reinstall the pinion nut and with trial and error try to find the same position for the loose nut. We offered to do this but he refused.
