This customer purchased a watch, had the timepiece altered at which point it was damaged and then attempted
to return the timepieceThe customer submitted a complaint to eBay, the complaint was reviewed and the case was decided in favor of the Company; please see the Company response to the customer complaint below and the attached response from eBay attached to this response:
"This auction clearly states, "Must be returned in original, un-used conditionOriginal shipping expense is not refunded on returns"Buyer clearly broke this agreement when he willfully ignored the return policy which he agreed to when he purchased the watchBuyer himself stated, "The watch was taken to a local jeweler to fit the bracelet and polish out the scratches in the case and bracelet." This seller has over years experience in this business and I can tell you, the only way to remove scratches in stainless steel is to use abrasive polishing compounds, muslin wheels, abrasive wheels and high speed polishing equipment which spins at high speeds and generates high heatIn addition to altered band and case, polishing has removed factory applied glare resistant coating on the ***The images provided by buyer clearly show a modified/altered watch that is different than the images from the auctionBuyer received this watch, states its good running condition, and then willfully chooses to have the stainless steel case and band altered to remove scratchesDuring this process the watch was clearly damaged as evidenced by the images subsequently provided by buyerAs such, the Company is not responsible for damages the moment buyer chooses to modify this piece as opposed to returning it for refundCompany did offer to repair this piece at no charge if the repair was assessed by our professional watchmaker to be simpleBuyer ignored offerSeveral weeks prior to sale, this watch was serviced by a seasoned watchmaker this seller has used for over twenty yearsI will make watchmaker available to eBay for any questions necessaryWatch was sold in excellent running conditionThis Company has no history whatsoever of the claim seller assertsThis Company regularly refunds honest buyers without issueThe Company provides clear images which show a watch dial in perfect condition, in contrast and in contradiction to the images provided by buyer."
The customer submitted a claim to eBay for resolution along with negative feedbackThe claim was reviewed and decided in favor of the Company, the negative feedback was removed and the customers claim rejectedWe will be happy to provide a copy of the email from eBay Customer Support indicating the decision in favor of Company
The Company has been selling on eBay since the year 2000, has over perfect sales in the last twelve months, with perfect customer ratings, all 100% perfect
The Company acted in good faith, offered at the time to repair the timepiece as stated above at no charge if the repair was assessed by our watchmaker to be simple, but the customer declined the offer
The Company no longer pursues a relationship with this customer and we consider this matter now closed
