Payne Richards & Associates Reviews (37)

I received a letter from Payne Richards and just knew it had to be a SCAM But, then I re-read it and they had too much accurate information I contacted our police department who gave me information on how to check out Payne Richards (P/R) That, combined with Revdex.com info, indicates that they are squeaky cleanI read *** B's review How unfair! She, like I, had no idea that we had unclaimed funds available Without that letter, we would never have known! So she is the beneficiary of that hidden money and is complaining because someone did ALL of the work for her, and wants a small percentage for their work How ungratefulIn my searching to check out P/R , I did locate those unclaimed funds and discovered how to file the claim myself So I did NOT use their services But I would like to thank them for notifying me, and to say that if I were not able to file my own claim, I would be happy to have them complete it for me

Hello, my name is *** ***, daughter of *** ** ***I have been trying all morning to get thru to your line to discuss an important claimI am getting a rolled over voice mail each timeIt is not during lunch hours or after hours so would like to know what is going on and if someone could please call me asapI have sent an email as wellThis is poor customer service
Thanks

This company falsified my signature - and has since been harassing me and threatening me for a paymentI will try this at first level, then work my way up to the Attorney General of California

Completely misleading letterThey proposed to charge me 10% to perform a service that took me five minutes of time on the internet to doI live in MA, suggest that everyone visits findmassmoney.com every now and againI'm sure other states offer similar services, and there is no fee to claim your money

I was contacted by them and did find a legitimate claim on the Pennsylvania treasury unclaimed property web siteHowever, I can download the paperwork and reclaim the funds myself PA does require your Social Security number Not a scam so far, but I did not use them

This has been a horrible experience! Had days from date that letter was sent to fill out form & get notarizedThey recieved it from me on Aug 18,After days of waiting for refund, I calledWas put on hold for one hourWas told my check would be arriving at end of JanuaryFeb I recieved more forms to fill out required by the State of OhioI called immediately & was told that they did not know about the Ohio law until Fec but on the Ohio forms sent to me, the date was OctI asked if I had to wait another months ,which would total months, to recieve my check, her response was that they couldn't tell me that allI can not believe Revdex.com A+ rating for this company?

This company is predatory I will absolutely never do any type of business with them again and will never recommend anyone use themThey sent me an email about unclaimed property that I hadI sent in the info, and almost instantaneously I began I receive bill after billEvery bill I was sent stated that I was not responsible for the bill until I received my PropertyThat property never cameEventually the bills turned into harassing phone calls from collection agentsI still never received any of the unclaimed money at any pointI called the company, and they said there was nothing they could do and that I would have to call the state to collect my moneyWhen I called the state, they basically had to start from scratch in order to collect my moneySo basically I just paid this company 10% of my unclaimed property to hurt my credit and receive absolutely no help from them whatsoeverIf you are a consumer and you receive contact from this company, DO NOT USE THEM!! Contact your state directlySave yourself the money and the heartache of having to deal with these animals

This company sends a letter which appears like they have been handed your unclaimed property case by the state, and you need to sign the paperwork to get your moneyThey will take 10% of your money if you sign on top of the fee the state takesThe letter is legal but misleadingIt should include a statement which reads: IF YOU HAVE ALREADY STARTED AN UNCLAIMED PROPERTY CLAIM WITH THE STATE, PLEASE DISREGARD!

I received a letter from Payne Weber and Associates regarding unclaimed stocks in the name of my late husbandI contacted them regarding these stocks and to inquire how to go about receiving these fundsThey made me aware of their fee, which I acceptedI sent in the death certificate for my husband and the notarized form required to obtain the funds, minus the feeAfter several calls over the next several weeks, I was informed that the check was issued October 31, I was given an exact amount and a check numberIt has now been weeks since that date with no check yet receivedSeveral calls to Payne Richards have not produced any additional answersMy concern is that these funds are being held by Payne Richards and collecting interestI am trying to settle this without taking any kind of legal action, I will do so if necessaryI would like some answers as to the whereabouts of the money to which I am legally entitiled

THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFFTHEY CHARGE FOR SOMETHING YOUR STATE WILL DO FOR NOTHINGDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU PLAN ON PAYING FOR ITYOUR STATE HAS A UNCLAIMED MONEY DEPTBE SURE YOU CHECK THERE FIRST

I too received a letterI too was skepticalIn reading all the reviews of those who had no idea they had money out there, and then went and retrieved it without using the people who found it for you - Shame, shame, shame on youKarma will get you for thatthank you PR for contacting meI like your business model, and I don't have a problem splitting my new found money 80/(yeah PR's cut on mine was 20%, not 10%)But that's still 80% of something I had no idea I had coming to me (without this letter)YOU people who cut PR out should be ashamed - you probably don't tip well at a restaurant eitherThanks PR, keep up the good work

I did receive a letter from them regarding funds that were being held by the state and although after signing and returning the form, I later found the website in Texas that I can go to and directly claim the funds - which I did However, I would never have known about the funds had they not informed me via letter Hence, I don't have a problem paying them 10% for letting me know of the funds! I have 89% of some funds in my savings that I probably would not have gotten w/out their notice :) Thanks, I'm a happy camper

I received a letter from Payne Richards saying they had "found" founds owed me and they wanted me to immediately agree to give them "$or 10%." It appears they found out I had placed a request with the government agency in Austin and had already received my fundsThey did absolutely NOTHING and tried to scam me by representing themselves as locating and securing the moneyTHIS SHOULD BE ILLEGALl!

The money ends up with whatever state it was sent to that you lived at, at that time. We had moved and changed insurances, so we missed the original check. Which was money our health insurance owed us. So your Insurance company wouldn't know about it. Here in Colorado all funds go to the Colorado Unclaimed funds department in department revenue I believe. I received a letter from Payne & Richards stating that I had unclaimed funds in CO. Although I had no idea and could have downloaded my own forms, I was happy that they found the funds. I didn't know about them, so I was happy to give 15% finding fee. I still ended up with a new nice fridge at the end of the day. Which is more than I had. I thought for sure it was a scam. But it wasn't. About 6 months to a year later. The state finally sent me my check $2900 and within a day, Payne was asking for their 15% share. I think this is good business. I think if they honestly find your funds, you should use them and pay for their services. That is the honest thing to do anyway. However, I've read a lot of people just download their own forms and submit bypassing Payne. I was happy to have these unknown funds in my account when I did. Our fridge went out, right before finding out, so it was a huge blessing.

Mr. [redacted] our records indicate that you were paid on the
claim our firm initiated on your behalf. Your claim was not denied as you
received your check. Regarding the denials you mentioned, the claim itself was
not denied. If the forms are not submitted in a timely manner they become
inactive...

and considered denied. When this happens, a new request is submitted
and new claim form is issued. You decided to submit the third claim form we requested
and your payment was approved.  Our
agreement also states that you are to work exclusively with our firm during the
recovery and it does not expire. If you have verification of filing the claim
on your own prior to our agreement, please submit to our office
for review.

Dear Ms. [redacted],
According to our records, we are not processing your claim.
No documentation has been received from you in our office. Also, your funds are
being held by the government, we are never in possession of your funds and have
no control over the check. We’ve contacted the holder...

and the funds are still
available to collect. Please contact us at your earliest convenience in order
to clarify any misunderstanding as we’ve attempted to contact you without success.
Thank you,

I received a letter from Payne Richards & Associates stating that I have a refund from my life insurance company. They are asking me to send them 20% of $862, which is $172.40.

I called my life insurance company and they know nothing about this letter. I have not called or sent the sender anything.
