Review: joe payne was hired to renovate portions of my owner- occupied two unit home. we agreed that I would pay for material as well as pay mr. payne in increments as work was completed. the job was, seemingly, completed.(early february) left behind was intact wall molding that was over-ordered. missing was a hand saw belonging to me that was inadvertently removed. I contacted joe. he picked up the molding to return it to the supplier. my credit card would then be credited about $40. 2 or 3 weeks passed and the credit card statement showed no return credit from the supplier. I called joe again. he claimed the molding got wet(not by me) and not returnable. he then told me that he, then, "forgot all about it." he apologized and said he would take care of it himself as well as return the saw. never heard from him again after many weeks. other complaint is the unfinished basement waterlines replacement he talked me into. it involved removing all the copper lines in the basement and replacing them with flexible tubing. on april 20 I turned on an exterior back yard hose faucet. no water. I then checked the basement line and found a stub of copper line where there used to a funtioning water line. I then called joe and left a voicemail that the situation needed his attention as soon as possible. never heard back. today I contacted message to joe......when you tell a client " I try to treat people as I would like to be treated."........after hearing that from you for the 4th or 5th time it just might raise a red flag or two.Desired Settlement: refund to me the value of the molding that was over-ordered by the contractor..... return the hand saw belonging to me that was removed........promply correct the unfinished water-line that supplies the exterior faucet......since "[redacted]" listing for payne's a-z mentions a guarantee, I expect a prompt reply to any problems encountered in the future regarding material and workmanship


Response: spoke to [redacted] Payne. She gave verbal response and stated company did not steal anything, took too by mistake and they will return it. She said that Mr. Payne would call.



I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

my april complaint against payne's a-z included 3 issues. the saw that, as stated in the complaint, was inadvertently removed and not returned was addressed by payne's in their recent and only response. the other 2 issues: the refund to me for the returned molding and the exterior faucet copper water line that was cut, removed and not replaced were totally ignored in payne's response. I have since hired a contractor to replace the water line and expect to be reimbursed. payne's october 10 communication to stated that joe would be contacting me. yet to hear from him. if and when he does contact me, I will also let him know that my tenants recently informed me that the laminated floor that he installed is bulging. [redacted] flooring told me that it was installed improperly. I have scheduled for a contractor to estimate the cost of repairing the floor. after 6 months and lame response from payne's on oct. 10, I really don't expect these issues to be resolved without legal action.
