PC Financial Insurance Broker Inc. Reviews (5)

We are entering our second year of insurance with PC insurance The first year we were quoted one amount and after payment was made we were told that the information was incorrectly entered in their system and that the actual amount owing was considerably more (>$more annual) After going through a fairly lengthy complaint process we were offered a gift card for *** of considerably less value, or to cancel our policy and find another carrier
Due to the fact that we were in the middle of a move to a new house we decided to accept their offer and stay with PC insurance however made the decision at that point to make a better decision on renewal
This year we went around to a few companies to get quotes both for both policies (home and auto), prior to contacting PC insurance because I knew from experience that once I hung up the phone they would not honor their promises On calling they provided me quotes for both the combined policy and both individual policies and we made the decision to cancel the auto policy with them and keep the home policy During that same conversation I made a full payment for the home policy
A few weeks later (days before the effective date for the renewed policy) I received a notice from the insurance company PC was using for this informing me that they had received payment on the Auto policy I had asked to cancel and that I still owed on the home policy I called PC again and was told that the notice was sent because they applied the payment prior to cancelling the auto policy and that it had actually been applied to the home policy I was then told that there was still owing more money (again >$100), to which I replied that I had been quoted what I paid
Upon investigation I was told that the broker had read the wrong line and it did not include some things which are required I indicated that it was not a fair business practice for them to not accept responsibility for this and cover the cost, particularly considering that it was now days prior to the policy taking effect
The official response from PC was that I had days to find another carrier if I was not interested in their policy and that they would do me the service of allowing me to cancel without penalty if I chose to do that They also informed me that it was a Broker error that caused the issue and that they would not take responsibility for that
The fact that this has happened to us on two consecutive occasions it seems that their brokers are not adequately trained on the software they use or the software is ineffective at providing them with reliable information
I would strongly recommend against using this Broker as they seem to deal with their customers dishonestly and refuse to stand by the statements of their Brokers when pushed

Bait and hook approach: quote insurance costs lower than what they will actually charge after you commit to their insurance and your policy commences.

Background: I signed up with PC Financial earlier this year when the quoted me less than current broker for home and auto (both always go to one company to take advantage of multi policy discounts). Well of course, they quoted me one price and when first bill came in, prices were slightly higher. I recall asking at the time and the explanation was that sometimes there is slight adjustments and their system doesn't always get it right. I don't even recall the amount, although I could probably dig through emails and check my invoice to determine. Anyway, I let it go.

Fast forward to last week when I called to find out how much insurance for auto would increase if add a second vehicle to the policy. I have the email...quoted a price by one representative. Since I decided to buy the car, I asked them late last week to add it to the policy starting at 12:01 am today. Then this morning, I get an email from PC Insurance telling me what my costs are and the annual cost is [redacted] more than what I was quoted last week!!! This is not peanuts...this is significant. Their explanation...they can only give estimates. Funny, last week they told me they get pretty far in the system and can get a pretty accurate quote. Well, guess not!

Needless to say, I am not happy. PC Financial seems to use a bait and hook approach to getting and retaining business. They provide an "estimate" which magically seems to be lower than the actual price you will pay. Unfortunately, you don't get the actual amount until after your policy commences. Too late....I suspect they would penalize for cancelling early. Never had this with any other broker or company I have dealt with (I am almost 50, so there have been a few). Well, luckily I am on a monthly plan and I WILL be leaving PC for good in 10 days when my monthly policy expires. For this reason, I am not wasting my time with the formal complaint process. However, I thought I would share my experiences with other insurance shoppers out there.

Another note. I thought I would be okay with PC's approach that when you call, you basically speak to whichever rep answers the phone, but I am not. It's very disruptive when you call in or have questions over several days and have to wait for a rep to get familiar and re-explain background etc. Lot's of wasted time, where as a traditional broker, I have a dedicated rep I deal with for everything. Going back to that model.

Overall, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! - [redacted] If I could rate this company a 0/5 star, I would. - But unfortunately I had to give a 1 star. I have been with PC Insurance for 3 years now and recently got married. My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to join insurances to save costs. We called in a total of 5 separate occasions and spoke to 6 different associates; [redacted] and lastly the MANAGER (who called us, my husband didn't get her name). - Each conversation lasted approximately 2 HOURS per employee! - WASTE OF TIME.

When I initially spoke to [redacted], she gave me a quote for the combination of my husband and I, which was $[redacted]/month. When I called a second time, [redacted] gave us a quote on home insurance, which was $[redacted]/month. Third call, [redacted] confirmed everything and told us what our quote entailed; auto insurance which included a $**/year '[redacted] and a $**/year [redacted] for each of us for $[redacted] a month. I asked that BOTH those 'add-ons' [redacted] be removed as they weren't necessary, she said 'sure', put me on hold and then HUNG UP ON ME. I called back a fourth time; spoke with [redacted] and told her about my conversation with [redacted]. - [redacted] said that she could carry on where [redacted] left off - NO APOLOGY NOTHING. So we carried on, but in the end when I asked [redacted] my final monthly payment for my husband and I (expecting it to be significantly cheaper [redacted]), - IT WAS THE SAME, if not a $[redacted] MORE; $[redacted]. I was shocked and inquired further. [redacted] I told her that that wasn't fair [redacted] I told her that the "numbers weren't making sense" [redacted] I didn't understand but could tell she was eager to get off the phone with me as I was asking so many questions. [redacted]

I talked to my husband that evening and even HE was confused, so he called in a FIFTH time and spoke to [redacted]. We tried to explain how we were misinformed when [redacted] finalized the new policy as we were told different things from different people and eventually she said that the MANAGER would contact us.

The MANAGER called my husband the next day [redacted] My husband explained how the numbers didn't add up and we were now paying $[redacted] MORE than our initial quote ($[redacted] to $[redacted] ALL DUE to the MISINFORMATION of her employees. [redacted] My husband asked about what [redacted] referred to (the "money owing from my previous policy"), [redacted]
- [redacted]?!?!?!?!!? - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!

My husband and I got [redacted] into accepting a policy using INACCURATE information and instead of the MANAGER accepting responsibility for her employees' actions, [redacted] My husband and I would have just been satisfied with keeping the same monthly price of $[redacted] if [redacted] as we INITIALLY thought that was INCLUDED. OR vice-versa, that the price would be cheaper [redacted]
The manager ended the conversation by telling us that we have 30-days to end our policy if choose.

My husband and I are EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of customer service this company offered and will surely be seeking another insurance company to work with.

- STAY AWAY SEEKING CUSTOMERS!!

I'd also like to report a similar experience I had that sounds very much like the previous review.

We've called in 3-4 different times to speak to rep's to confirm and plan for our new car, and what the rate would be when my partner get's her G2. The story is always the same... The price that gets put on our policy is outrageously higher than what was promised on the phone, and confirmed by the representative.

I even offered a recording of the phone call as evidence... They were not interested in hearing it, [redacted]

Long story short. I'm not renewing.

In my experience this company has been extremely dishonest.
