[Unfortunately I cannot accept this excuse from seller. Reality is, he and his salesperson BOTH stated repeatedly that he had invested over $6,into this car. I was promised a copy of the receipt with all the work done. The owner since also promised to show me as proof a copy of the check he refers to along with the mechanic who did the works phone number to confirm the money was spent on the car. I am stating with proof both in invoices and pictures that there was absolutely NO WORK or repairs done in this car prior to my purchasing it. NOTHING! The car was in total original condition. I asked my respected local mechanic with years experience while it was up on his rack to look and tell me what if anything had been updated or repaired. He could not find a single thing, NOT ONE! Where I still ask is this list of repairs I was promised? Where are copies of this check he refers to? At one point he stated he was ripped off by "this clown" of a mechanic and it shouldn't be his fault that he was ripped off for $6k. I have copies of his email stating this. I'm sorry this guys business is slow and according to him, he's recently had to file for Bankruptcy due to slow sales. That just makes it more likely for him to be dishonest in his dealing out of desperation. He did in fact promise to cover the cost of the recent repairs of $3k. He promised $1,a week for weeks. I was sent $after two plus weeks and nothing since. This had been the worst transaction of my life and I kick myself for not sending that car to a local BMW dealer for a pre purchase check outShame on me be letting myself be bamboozled. I spent two months looking for the right car and had it down to possibles. The reason I chose this one was based on the $6k he said he had just invested. Turns out that was a total lie and I got burnedShame on me for not confirming the claim, but doesn't mean I have to be happy about it and doesn't mean I don't feel compelled to warn other potential customers of the risk in doing business with them. The fact he's filed Bankruptcy, assuming he actually has, tells me he's not long for this business. If I don't get another payment asap I'll share this same story on *** and several other sites. NO WAY should you disregard this complaint. I can send pictures of all the worn parts laid out by my mechanic along with the invoice for the repairs. Repairs I was assured were already done. I'd like very much to see his check copy and he promised to email me along with the contact number of the crooked mechanic he also promised to give me. I submit neither exists any more than the receipt I was promised at purchase for all the $6k of work that was done by both his salerperson *** and the owner ***. I hate to be wasting time on this but until I get the $2,he still promises to pay I'm not going to let this pass unchallenged]

We apologize for the customers negative experience.  Yes we agreed to help pay for the customers repairs and subsequent issues.  Unfortunately, due to bankruptcy laws, we are limited (and in some cases restricted) on what we can pay/transfer money to, etc.  I have documentation that...

shows what we spent on the vehcile.  I have an invoice that shows we spent $5,085 on one invoice (I also have a corresponding check which I can obtain from the bank as proof).  Additionally, there was an invoice of an additional $700 paid but that invoice does seem to be missing.  Nevertheless, the point is we spent money to fix this car.  The minute Mr. [redacted] started experiencing issues, I was VERY responsive and offered to help pay for anything that happened.  We were very accommodating and courteous from day 1 and beyond.  Mr. [redacted] then decides to wait 8 months to send me a nasty email laced with profanity and threats demanding I send him a check for thousands of dollars or he would "expose" us and "destroy" us on social media, review sites, Revdex.com, etc.  Our attorneys weren't fans of the light extortion attempt however; we take pride in running our business with integrity and honesty and I decided I would try my best to help Mr. [redacted] in some capacity.  We agreed to an amount and I did send one payment so far and have every intention of sending more ONCE my BK case is settled and resolves OR when am LEGALLY and FINANCIALLY able to do so.  I made this clear to Mr. [redacted]. I have no intention of letting him hang in the balance wondering if I am going to pay.  I made it clear I would...IN WRITING. That aside, I feel the Revdex.com should dismiss this complaint for the very simple reason that Mr. [redacted] SIGNED a retail installment contract that CLEARLY states the car is AS-IS and he realized that by signing the contract he understood all the consequences and costs of buying a USED car (and a BMW that is KNOWN to have NUMEROUS problems). Furthermore, the California Vehicle Code gives the consumer the RIGHT to have the vehicle INSPECTED PRIOR to purchase.  Mr. [redacted] declined that option.  Moreover; the contract also has an option to have a CONTRACT CANCELLATION (for an additional cost of $250) wherein Mr. [redacted] could have returned the car after 1-3 days and obtained a full refund of his down payment.  He declined this option.  My business model isn't designed to help people make sensible purchases or make wise life choices.  My business is to sell cars. Every car we buy goes through basic DMV inspection, smog certification (STAR TESTING), and a service.  Any major repairs that are needed are made.  Mr. [redacted] asserts that we are "scam artists" who purposely duped him.  This couldn't be farther from the truth and our reputation on [redacted], Cars.com, and other sites will validate our mission to be responsible and credible car dealers.  It is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle is having problems, however, we have made valid attempts to resolve this and have been very fair. Review: Crooked car dealer sold me a car he assured over and over he had just spent $6,000 on replacing every last gasket, including complete cooling system, new tires, and all belts and hoses. Check engine light came on before I even got home from the dealer after purchase. Emission warning also came on. When I finally took the car to a mechanic, it turned out there was not a single repair or upgrade done to the car. It needed a complete new cooling system, service, new front suspension bushings, and all new tires! When I called him to tell him this, he blamed a crooked mechanic who he swore he paid $6,000 to and he'd send me a copy of the check and his contact number. If course, he never sent me either. He then offered me $3k refund if I could prove I spent that on car. I sent him copy of bill I paid for $3k along with pictures of all the tired parts that were replaced. He said he'd send $1,000 a week for 3 weeks. It's been 7 weeks and he sent me one check for $500. He how tells me he filed BK and will get to me down the road, be patient. Car still has many issues not repaired including air bag system fault, emissions warning, sunroof doesn't close. Both he and his saleperson said over and over they spent that $6k and after asking over and over for a copy of the list for my records, I kept being told it would be emailed to me. Of course, never did get it. Never got copy of check from the mechanic for $6k. Was told he shouldn't be responsible for a crooked mechanic ripping HIM off! When I told him I'd complain online about this, he threatened to sue me for slander and told me this wasn't his first rodeo dealing with such. I'm sure it's not! I was looking at 3 similar cars, the other two were actually less money. I bought this based on his word and the fact I wasn't expecting to have to spend any money in repairs for quite some time. Exactly the opposite happened. He had a mechanic clear all the faults before sale, they all came back on in 24 hours!Desired Settlement: I was promised a refund of $3,000 over 3 weeks. It's been 7 weeks and I've received $500. Seller has stopped returning emails and says he filed bankruptcy, but he'll get back to me down the road. Do not trust. Want my promised $2,500 balance or I share this horror story every place I can post to warn public of crooked car dealer. Shame on me for falling for this scam artist.
