The letter head was Publishers Clearing House which stated, I was a second place winner in the 100 Million Dollars Super Cash Giveaway promotion sponsored by Readers Digest, Mega Millions and Multi-State Lottery Association. Along with it a check for $6,890.20 from Harris Trust and Savings Bank (no longer a bank under that name). The check is supposed to cover insurance and attorney fees. Further on the letter said to contact the Claim Manager before depositing the check for further information on the prize. There was no return address on the envelope, and several names on both the check and letter some of which alerted it as a fraud.
