I was having problems with my furnace and started looking online for someone to come by and give me a diagnostic. I had called Mak from Best Budget Boiler And Plumbing INC. and he said he would come by. After dropping by the house he took a look at the furnace and although he was very vague about what needed to be fixed, he lit the pilot and after a few minutes of tinkering with the pipes and not actually changing any parts he had it up and working and said it would be a charge of $85.00 for the call out and $65.00 for his labor.
45 minutes after he had left the house the furnace was down again. I called him to let him know that the furnace was not working and to my surprise he was very quick in his answer to tell me, he figured that would happen. He said I needed a fan changed and the work that he had done was going to be temporary. That was never explained to me at the time of repair so naturally I was a little confused and upset.
I was already $150 in the hole, so it made no sense to change the repair man at this point so I told him to go ahead and come on Monday when he was able to order the part.
Monday morning I spoke to him and he said he would be on his way and the part he ordered was going to be $650.00.
He spent the entire day at the house working on the furnace and leaving to grab parts he said were given to him wrong from the company he bought it from.
We have 6 children in the house so during the cold and no working furnace it was very difficult to be out the house all day while he worked.
At the end of the day at about 9:15PM he came upstairs to say that the furnace was not fixed and he was not sure what the problem was at all. I was absolutely drained at that time because we had wasted days waiting for the weekend to finish so we can order the part, and after that the whole day with him working. The house was freezing cold and we were forced to leave the house and find ways to keep the kids busy.
I had to go off and get a new repair man and he did the job and finished in about 2 hours, when I called back to see if maybe he can return full or some of the money I had given him because he didn't actually fix anything he rejected it right away saying he did fix it for the time and If I was patient with him for a 3rd day in hopes he would figure it out. I was very disappointed in the treatment I received and felt ripped off.
I do not recommend this company to anyone to be honest, this could have been an issue that was dealt with very easily and he refused to do so! Returning some of the money or at least understanding my situation would have been perfectly fine, Instead he was firm in thinking he did nothing wrong.
