I dropped my car off for a tune-up. It is a Honda Hybrid Accord 2005 with 249,000 miles and well-maintained. Pete S***, owner checked over my car and found three new and three old spark plugs and replaced all six. The air filter was fine, he couldn't find the fuel filter so assumed it was in the gas tank. He put the car up and found that the two rear brake pads need replacing which would be a separate cost of $167. He charged $247 yesterday which included spark plugs at $15.75 each which he said my Honda required and 2 1/4 hrs of his labor at $60/hour. I disputed his time and the high cost of the spark plugs. He looked up the time the book says he can charge for changing spark plugs and it was 3/4 hour. He told me it took him 1 1/2 hours and in addition I should help him pay for his expensive socket tool. He maintained that checking over the car took another 3/4 hour and I was "paying for his professional knowledge." He ended up yelling at me and taking off 1/2 hour from the bill where he changed out six spark plugs for a total of $215.46.
