Peachstate Windows

We bought a house with a lot of problems, and we looked for a contractor to replace siding, gutters, almost all the windows, and all the outside doors. Of the three contractors we talked to, Jeff Shea showed the best understanding of our vision for the house, and he had many suggestions for improvements which we liked. In addition, we also found Jeff to be very personable and easy to deal with. Any project of this size is bound to run into some glitches; the only big one with Peachstate was that Jeff should have applied for the permit from the city of Duluth sooner, resulting in a two-day shut-down after the work started because the permit had not been issued. (On the other hand, the other two contractors we talked to said no permit was necessary.) There were other delays, but they were due to supplier failures to meet delivery dates, bad weather, holidays, and other problems which were not Peachstate's fault. Once the work resumed after the permit was issued, the workers showed up promptly and put in long days. For the most part, the work was done correctly, and any mistakes were corrected promptly when we called them to Jeff's attention. One thing I really liked about Jeff was that he didn't just manage the project; he didn't hesitate to get his hands dirty doing some of the work himself, especially with the installation of the new doors. When the work was done, the house was transformed, and neighbors were telling us how beautiful it looked. Much of that was due to Jeff's suggestions. Our thanks to Jeff and his workers for a job well done.

Since there was no option for zero stars, I had to choose one. Do not hire this company if you desire communication and honesty. We hired Jeff to complete a whole house siding job and sand and stain a deck and front porch. He communicated very well until the job started, then ignored emails and phone calls for days. His crew is wonderful and works fast, however they don't speak English very well, and when you need to discuss something Jeff is impossible to get in touch with. He will then even lie about talking to your spouse face to face, when neither my husband or I saw him the entirety of the project. Siding went on fine, however when it came to the deck, the paint stain the guys used, first was the wrong color, and second washed off within 24 hours because it wasn't dry and it rained. When we finally got in touch with Jeff, after calling him out for zero communication, he assured us that the paint would be dry and there wouldn't be an issue. Then it rained, and now it's all washed off. The front porch was supposed to be stained, not paint stained (even according to the quote) and it wasn't. We have sent multiple emails trying to get this resolved, and we can't even get a response about his plan. They just keep sending the final invoice, but won't correct the job. So if you want a job done correctly and don't want to be lied to and ignored...DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.
