Review: Peak Communications called my home and talked to my wife. The agent said that Peak Communications would charge only seven cents a minute for phone service, while [redacted], our existing provider, was charging us ten cents a minute. My wife agreed to switch our service to Peak Communications based on this representation.

However, we were not paying ten cents a minute with [redacted]. Since we make many long distance calls each month, we had elected a long distance plan with unlimited long distance. We were paying much less than the seven cents a minute that Peak Communications charges. In addition, Peak Communications also charges a monthly plan fee and other monthly fees on top of the per-minute long distance fee. These charges were not mentioned by the agent to my wife when persuading her to switch our long distance service.

Consequently, our phone bill was much higher than our normal monthly bill. Since our phone bill is automatically debited from my bank account, I did not catch this immediately. I have now received inflated phone bills for two months. In addition, I had to take time out of my work day to call [redacted] to switch my phone service back to [redacted]. Since I just made this phone call today, I expect that my next phone bill will also have some charges from Peak Communications.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of all Peak Communications charges billed to me through Peak Communications.

I would also like to an investigation into Peak Communications sales practices. I think that sales agents need to speak with the person who handles the phone bill for the family. They should not be able to misrepresent what the existing provider is charging. They also need to be up front about additional monthly fees that also factor into the total cost of the long distance phone service.
