There are several charges for things that did not take place and/or were done inaccuratley.
Charges for paper work to be reviewed before filing which was not reviewed or would not have been processed incorrectly, Charges for meetings and calls that did not take place and for calls that were not necessary. Charges for amending incorrectly processed paperwork.
12/21/2012 0.90 charges for review of paperwork - this was not performed as was filed incorrectly multiple times
12/27/2012 0.10 duplicate charge for review of paperwork
12/20/2012 0.90 charge for meeting with paralegal- this did not take place, met with paralegal at end of introduction session and provided a post it note with relevant address and contact information which took approximately 10 minutes
02/01/2013 0.50 charge for multiple calls to granddaughters to confirm hearing dates and location- this was never done. We called the law firm to verify date and time of location as trail was set to happen at Jeffco courthouse for a Denver county matter. Info was verified that we were to appear at the Jeffco courthouse however upon arriving, were informed by Jeffco that this was a Denver matter (as we pointed out to the law firm) and proceeded to travel additional time and mileage in order to appear promptly.
02/04/2013 0.50 charges for amended petitions for conservators and guardians - we should not be responsible for errors on the part of the firm
02/05/2013 0.20 charge for call to [redacted] to obtain info to serve [redacted]- this call was not necessary all information was obtained on prior occasions
02/25/2013 1.10 charges for telephone calls with clients to prepare for hearing - this did not take place. At no time did we meet with[redacted] regarding the trial or otherwise. Upon arrival at court house we were given a sheet of paper with the answers we were to give. No other meetings or preparation was attempted.
02/26/2013 0.20 charge for call with[redacted] and [redacted] regarding court info - we had no option but to call this date as wrong court info was provided both verbally and through the notice of hearing provided through the court system.
02/28/2013 Law research charge of $169.88 - why are we paying for you to do your research?
In addition we had to appear at the attorney's office on 3 additional occasions to remedy errors on the part of the firm. We were informed that they were having difficulties with a staff member and that many errors had occurred. I do not feel that that is a valid excuse for such an important matter. Responsibility ultimately falls on the attorney who accepted responsibility for this case. During my attempts to contact the firm regarding this inaccurate billing I was informed by the attorney that he had family matters happening, again this is not my responsibility however I do understand that things may come up. As a patron I expect an accurate bill for services rendered. Upon speaking with the attorney I was informed that the office manager would be sending out a detailed billing however this was not received instead I received yet another bill. This firm is unresponsive and has been using false billing tactics. Upon the initial meeting with the attorney we were estimated a price of approximately $1500 dollars and while I do understand that things come up and if justified appropriate fees would be rendered however additional charges of approximately $1088 is unreasonable.
