Pearson's Auto Service Reviews (3)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.because he lied, about the price quote. he quoted 485.00 for the two window switch,s I purchased a master switch and did not need the factory switch on passangers side and drivers side was fine they just disconceted it far enuff so as  i were travling over a bump it would come off and switches would not work, and it did when I went to install new master I bought the main switch was disconected I pluged back in and both switchs worked fine for those switches not to work when they were checking out system there was no need to remove door panel, the master switch was easy accessable, from outside of the door panel, some one at there company had to disconect the switch,  and  about my wiring nothing was wrong with my wiring.  311.00 is a redulious fee for changing a light bulb. Regards,[redacted]

On December 4, 2013 the customer brought in the 1992 Nissan 240SX  he had recently purchased with complaints that passenger window would not go up and brake lights did not work properly.  In addition he supplied brake pads and requested that we install...

them.

Vehicle Condition: This 22 year old vehicle came in with multiple poorly done modifications.

Brakes: For installation of customer-supplied rear brake pads we charged 1.0 hours (which is less than the standard national labor rate per ALLDATA of 1.1 hours) at our labor rate of$75 per hour.  In order to remove wheels we had to remove the old lug nuts for which customer did not have the key. He had brought in different lug nuts, but they were not useable because the thread pitch was incorrect.   Therefore, in order to do brakes we had to obtain the correct lug nuts (which customer approved) and use extractor tool to remove the old ones at labor charge of $35 plus correct lug nut set at $42.

Electrical: We charged 1.0 hours labor to test window switch and shorted brake light system. Passenger window switch was bad and the master window switch on driver's door felt like it was working with difficulty indicating it would probably fail soon.  We declined to
remove the driver side door panel for diagnostic purposes because it was already broken and someone had riveted it on. Since the Original Equipment parts needed to repair were special order from the east coast, customer opted to have the passenger window secured in the up position until he was ready to properly repair. This was done at no additional charge. Testing of wiring and components in the brake light system revealed a shorted out and melted left brake light socket and three bad bulbs. Installation of the new left brake lamp socket and two bulbs was also included in the one hour labor.  The $35 additional charge was to replace 3rd brake lamp bulb because someone in past had glued assembly together--customer was advised of this before we did it. Customer came back over one month later on I/10/14 to order passenger window switch, so we called our OE part supplier again to get the current 2014 price.  Technician suggested that possible driver door master switch issue should be addressed before placing order, but customer did not want to do that and said he would take care of that himself.  We told customer if he brought in the previous estimate we would still honor the 2013 price we had previously quoted him and that the part could only be warrantied in the future if we installed it.

Summary: Customer received full value for the  $311.38 he paid on Invoice 14293 dated 12/5/13. Invoice 14376 dated 1/10/14 for $92.32 was for placing the special order for the window switch and included tax and estimated shipping charges.  Special Orders are non
refundable which was stated on the invoice which customer signed that day.

Review: I took my 1992 Nissan to Pearson Auto Service last month to have the 3rd brake light checked out and to replace the brake pads which I supplied. They replaced the light bulb which should have been about $75. They charged me $385 to put a bulb in because the said the wiring ws messed up. I paid the #385 and asked then to check the passenger window switch which seemed rather sluggish. They said the passenger window switch was not working and the driver side (master) was going out.I drove home and a few days later the driver side did go out. I went back and asked them to order the switch. They asked for prepayment of the switch. They had quoted me $109 installed verbally for the one switch. When I went in to pay for the switch it was $92 and $75 for labor which was more than the original verbal quote. They didn't recall the verbal quote. I gave them a check for $92 for the switch. After conversation regarding the installation of the switch (which I could do myself) they were insistent that they do the installation. I refused and went home. I removed the switch and inspected prior to completing the installallion myself of a swithch I had previously purchased on [redacted]. At that time I realized the the master switch was simply disconnected (not possible except by human hands because of design). I then placed a stop payment on my check to Pearson because I feel they are being fraudulent.Desired Settlement: I want a refund on the first service payment of $385 less the $75 for the labor for installation of the supplied brake pads. The labor involved in replacing the bulb was far less than initially thought by Pearsons and I should not have been charged the exorbitant labor fee.
