On July 28, 2015, my wife *** and I went to the following location for our eye examinations We recently moved from out of State so this was our first visit to this facility We saw Doctor Min ** ***, an Ophthalmologist His address is:
*** ** *** *** *** * *** *** *** ** *** *** * *** Our complaint involves the payment of out insurance co-pays We have two insurance policiesOne of which is our primary insurance, the other, our secondary In the past it has been our experience that the provider` submits any co-pay due from our primary insurance to the secondary insurance, which in turn has paid the co-pay leaving us with a zero balance due to the provider
At our appointment with Dr***, we were told by a member of his office staff (Moses), that we had to pay the co-pays for both insurances We tried to explain to Moses that we believed this to be incorrect We were told they needed to collect the co-pays and if the provider was reimbursed any money, it would be refunded to us In order to see Dr***, we had to each pay $which they considered to be our co-pays We subsequently paid the co-pays
On August 16th the provider was notified that our first insurance paid for the exam minus our co-payment The provider subsequently requested payment from our secondary insurance for the co-payment amount Our secondary insurance paid in full, which left us with no monies owed to the provider
The provider now possesses both co-payments and has readily acknowledged the money we paid upon our first visit is refundable to us
After several phone calls to Moses, Dr***’s office assistant, we have not been reimbursed Each call I am met with a different excuse such as;
-Dr*** will be writing you a check and you should have it by the end of the week
-Dr*** only writes checks at the end of the month
-Dr*** ran out of checks
-Moses said that Dr*** apologized on a Wednesday for the delay and that my check would be available on Friday to be picked up
-On Friday Dr*** had back-to-back patients and was unable to write out the check
-When I asked them to mail the check to me, I was told by Moses that Dr*** does not want to mail checks because he claims when he has done so in the past, several of his patients claim they never received the check in the mail so he has to cancel the check and write another one Therefore I needed to come to the office to get the check
-Since I paid the co-payments with a credit card, I asked if the amount could be credited back to our account I was told that they don’t do that
We are now approaching the end of November with no reimbursement of the money owed to us
I was hoping that this letter of complaint might resolve the issue
