Our son was diagnosed with Chrone's disease back in August 2019. In September 2019, he was medically prescribed Pediasure Peptide 1.5 for enteral feeding. Our insurance provider uses this company for his medically prescribed formula and other products for his tubular feeding , since he could not eat any food. We had a very nice lady come to our residence and show us all the product that our son had to use for his feedings. However, she forgot to mention the cost of the product is $886.00 per case (24 - 8 oz bottles). Currently available on AMAZON for $89.75 per case. During a conversation yesterday asking about the bills and excessive cost to this formula, we where told "you ordered the product" and " you could have picked another provider". The website has a portal to order product but does not list the cost. We only know the cost once we receive the Explanation of Benefits from our Insurance carrier or a bill from PHS.
Currently we have used 27 cases, roughly $23,922.00 - plus shipping costs. Currently needs 3 cases every 2 weeks..... The best part of this ordeal, our insurance carrier will only cover $5,000.00 for formula for enteral feedings - (this is another issue). In talking with our insurance carrier, they were acceptable to this cost - UNITED HEALTHCARE - to pay the expense. The insurance carrier representative stated, "they can charge anything they want, it's their product".
The actual cost that this company is charging for a medically necessary product is ridiculous. This formula was prescribed by his doctor and we had trusted PHS as our supplier. Based on the high makeup, they are making some nice profits. Knowing that the product is available somewhere else for 1/10 of the cost - plus FREE Shipping, I will be shopping their for my son's formula.

Patients see the best results when we can invest time upfront to provide in-person education on equipment and supplies as well as ongoing support for troubleshooting, questions, monthly orders, and any other support needs. We appreciate the trust that is given to us by patients and providers and are disappointed to read that you feel we have not met your expectations. We will be reviewing your case and looking at our process to see where we could have caught the insurance limitation earlier in the process.
This company took advantage of me while I had a sick 2 year old son. Long story not worth typing but do not trust this company. They will scam you and when you call and talk to a manager you will be told “you signed a form” “it was your responsibility to read the form” I think it’s a complete scam and joke.

At PHS, we follow the orders we receive from patients’ doctors to provide the right supplies and equipment to best care for the patients’ needs at home. Without receiving cancellation orders from doctors, we are unable to stop care.
