Review: We have built a house for sale off of [redacted]., [redacted], VA. The unit is not occupied and final inspection is not at hand as of yet. Over the course of the last several months and unbeknown to us, water was slowly leaking from two of the 2nd floor bathrooms. The leak was gradual and in small enough that made detection hard. The leak was caused by poor workmanship during installation as the water faucets below the vanities were not tightened enough to prevent water from leaking around the pipe. As a result, two vanities were damaged and warped. I called Peed Plumbing and they sent a plumber on 4 different occasions as follows:

1. Stopped by to tighten the plumbing work below the vanity Room 1 and stop the leak.

2. Stopped by to tighten the plumbing work below the vanity Room 2 and stop the leak.

3. The vanities could not be repaired as a result of the water damage and was special ordered through [redacted] in [redacted], PA

4. The vanities arrived two months later and Peed sent a plumber to disconnect the two bathrooms.

5. Kitchen contractor was dispatched to remove the granite on top of the two vanities

6. On the day of the arrival, (2) carpenters were dispatched to remove the old cabinets and install the new cabinet. The kitchen contractor (3) was present to reinstall the granite top and Peed Plumbing was present to reconnect all plumbing for the vanities.

7. Painter was called in for caulking and touch ups.

The cost of the repairs alone has $6,458. I have paid for all the repairs so far. This does not include the roughly $33,000 monthly carrying cost. We could not place the house in the market for 2 1/2 months because we could not show the house with this issue. This issue would lead the buyer to believe that there are substantial plumbing issues and is bad for marketing.

To date, two months after the work has been completed and billed, I have yet to receive a payment from Peed Plumbing. Despite numerous telephone messages and emails, both [redacted] Peed the owner of Peed Plumbing and his Service Manager, [redacted], have refused to return my repeated emails, phone and text messages. I find this very unprofessional. I have email correspondences from Peed informing me to repair the issues and bill them for payment. [redacted] Peed has lied.Desired Settlement: Peed Plumbing must pay for the damages that was caused as a result of negligent labor / poor workmanship. Peed plumbing must pay in full all the charges that we have incurred. Peed Plumbing originally accepted and agreed to refund us for the cost of the issues caused.

Review: Peed Plumbing as a subcontractor to [redacted] installed my plumbing in my home. The home was built in 2006. In August of 2013, the sewer line from home broke causing my basement to flood with raw sewage. During the repair of the sewage line (which I witnessed), it was observed by the repair company and myself that the original sewage pipe was not installed properly. The repair company showed me that the section of the pipe that was broken was not secured with gravel that is standard practice in the installation of sewage pipes. They showed me where they had gravel on one end of the pipe but did not place gravel on the other end of the pipe. This lack of gravel over time resulting in the pipe moving causing it to break resulted in the back up of sewage in my home. I have evidence to support this allegation (pictures of the pipe, statements from the repair company etc.).

The repair company and the technician are recognized experts in sewer pipe installation and have done this type of repair for many years. They informed me that had the pipe been installed properly the line breakage would not have occurred. Peed refuses to honor their warranty claiming the time limitations (through their insurance company [redacted])

I filed a claim with their commercial liability insurance carrier [redacted] - [redacted] Claim - #[redacted]. The claim was denied citing the time limitation. I plan to take legal action and file a claim with their professional liability insurance.Desired Settlement: I would like Peed Plumbing to reimburse me for the costs of the pipe repair (approximately 5,000)

Please accept this letter as our response to complaint #[redacted], regarding the installation of the sanitary sewer installation at the above referenced address. The assertion that the sanitary sewer installed by Peed Plumbing was done incorrectly is simply not true.

The information we have received states that the sewer lacked the required support (gravel bedding) and this was determined as the cause of the line failure. Since we were not given the opportunity to inspect the sewer during the repair we have no way to know whether this statement is correct. What we do know is this sewer was inspected and passed by [redacted] County and since adequate support is a code requirement and the sewer installation was passed by [redacted] County I think it is safe to assume adequate support of the sewer line was provided.

I would like to bring you attention to another statement which is not quite true. The complaint states the reason our insurance company denied this claim was solely based on lime limitations. The response from our insurance carrier states the primary reason tor denial of the claim was lack of proof of negligence with time limitation being secondary.

There are several reasons why the sewer could have failed but none of which would involve out company. For these reasons we have and will continue to refuse responsibility for a failure which was in no way caused by Peed Plumbing.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: Basement holding tank for septic emitting foul odor. Michael showed up for service and told us to put baking soda/water down drain. Smell back in two days. Michael came back out and re-caulked septic holding tank.

Smell back in 3 days. Each time we wait for a serviceman we have to wait 1 1/2 weeks or more, meanwhile the smell is everywhere, even in our upstairs bedroom. The third time a different repair man came.

He told us to put bleach in the tank after WAITING ALL DAY FOR HIS ARRIVAL, even though he was supposed to be at our home at 10 am. We told him we were not happy with his solution.Desired Settlement: Fix the septic smell in our home (basement).

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The service manager ran a smoke test and that detected the problem whereupon the air leak was caulked and the matter was fixed. I appreciate the service manager's efforts.
