Peko TV Service, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: On 10-18-2013 while looking for a replacement lamp for my 50" Samsung DLP tv Model# [redacted], I came across an ad on [redacted] for a small business that sells them. This is the same ad that was used at the time [redacted]. Being pretty excited that I wouldn't have to order one online, I give [redacted] Tv Service Inc. a call to ask if they have the replacement lamp I'm looking for in stock. The guy [redacted] answers, I ask him if they have the right bulb, he checks and says they do have 1. So I take a 30 min drive to Franklin,WI to go buy the lamp. I go buy the replacement lamp, get it back home and get it properly put into the tv set, directions are very simple. The lamp doesn't work. I recheck the connections to make sure, but the lamp isn't working. The screen doesn't turn on like its supposed to, the sound of the lamp being on is undetectable and when looking at the back of the set while its on, there's no light coming from the the lamp is located. So on 10-19-2013 I take the lamp back thinking there may be something else wrong with my tv, but I have an older 46" Samsung DLP tv Model# [redacted], which I believed to have the same problem of needing an replacement lamp, and asked to exchange the lamp I was returning for the replacement lamp for the 46" tv. I go to take the lamp back, exchange, and drive back home only to have this replacement lamp not work also. So after the week was over I returned to [redacted] Tv Service Inc on Sat 10-26-2013. I brought along with me the 50" & 46" tvs to show [redacted] that neither of his replacement lamps worked in my tvs. Both tvs indicated the lamp was out with the replacement lamps in, so I thought the tv sets had some other problem. Regardless, I didn't want the lamp if it didn't work and it wasn't operational. So when I returned to [redacted] Tv Service Inc to get a refund per the 90 Day Warranty written on the receipt and within the [redacted] Ad, I was not expecting Mr.[redacted] to emphatically deny me any cash refund for a used item I bought from his store. His reasoning was that he didn't know what I did to the lamp for it to not work. There's no guarantee the lamps are operational, the lamps must be in specific tv sets for them to operate. Mr. [redacted] didn't pull out the corresponding tv and show the lamp worked before purchase. I have to take his word that its operational, but Mr. [redacted] won't even honor his own 90 Day Warranty, his word is worthless. I told him, its a USED REPLACEMENT LAMP with a 90 Day Warranty! Now that it doesnt work its somehow my fault? I hadnt done anything to the lamp, but drive it home and put it in the tv & he sure had no problem with exchanging for the other when I told him the 1st replacement lamp wasn't operational. Now he believed me to be tampering with the lamps with no proof, he wouldn't take the lamp out of the box to inspect it thoroughly. I then told him I could bring the tvs inside to show him that the lamps DID NOT WORK! He wanted to charge me his $75 service fee just to do that??? Why would you charge me for trying to show you that your product was defective?? I'm trying to get my $52.80 refund back, why would I walk right into that trap? I'd owe him more $. So after leaving completely disappointed in the service I received, I call back to ask what the 90 Day Warranty covers? Mr.[redacted] tells me that it covers anything bought from his store, ok so how can you deny me cash refund? He claims to be able to do this because he says so! We argued the legitimacy of what he was doing, which was illegally denying me cash refund per the contract in the form of a Receipt in Mr. [redacted]s handwriting. It says nowhere on the receipt anything about Sold As Is or No Cash Refund. I now believe Mr. [redacted] already knew these replacement lamps weren't operational and tried to pass them off on an unsuspecting customer. Bottom line, his product was defective & I never would've bought the replacement lamp if the ad hadn't included the 90 Day Warranty, because just in case it didn't work my belief was that I would be able to get my money back.Desired Settlement: I didn't even want to file a complaint against a small business like that, but his interaction with me after I wanted my cash refund was completely uncalled for. A bad report filed with Revdex.com and my $52.80 returned to its rightful owner, which is me. I feel like Mr. [redacted] is stealing from me, the same way as if I walked into his store and walked out with something without payment. The False Advertising practices need to come to an end! Any legal repurcussions for illegal practices.

Response:

I am writing in response to the complaint filed by [redacted], regarding the sale of a used DLP lamp. I had an ad on [redacted] selling used DLP lamps for $50 with a 90 day warranty. He came in on October 18th to purchase one for $50 + tax. Total $52.80.
