Pelican Floors

I have to start off this review by saying: Your expectations will be EXCEEDED if you choose Pelican Floors*** AND it may seem like I'm an "insider" due to my raving review but I have absolutely no affiliation, personal connection, or incentive for leaving this review. These are my honest opinions from my personal experience working with Pelican. We've already referred 2 friends to them, as well.

My husband and I had spent a couple months shopping around for new flooring. We replaced all of the flooring in our 1,900 sq. ft. house (except for in the 2 bathrooms). We had old crappy laminate in our kitchen and awful berber carpet throughout the rest of the house. We replaced it with beautiful new laminate flooring throughout and carpet in our 2 kid's bedrooms.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Pelican Floors is a locally-owned business by the absolute sweetest couple - Zach & Kirsten. When working with Zach & Kirsten you are working with people who seem to truly care about you, your wants, and needs. Zach is incredibly knowledgeable! He proudly refers to himself as a "flooring geek" and rightfully so, in the best way, because WOW does he know his stuff! From the products to the labor & installation, this guy has impressively detailed information to share, which is extremely helpful especially if you're like us and are replacing your floors for the first time. Zach comes out to take measurements and provide you with an estimate for FREE! *Bonus: His measurements and calculations are so precise that the estimate was within $200 of what the actual cost ended up being - IMPRESSIVE! ***'s charged us to come out & measure and give us an estimate. Kirsten is the friendliest, sweetest woman I have ever worked with! She always has a smile on her face, is quick with communication, and is genuinely happy to assist throughout the whole process. With this pair you are getting top notch customer service that you won't get from a big box store and, from our experience, won't get from some other local smaller businesses either. It is obvious that Zach & Kirsten have a passion for what they're doing and take great pride in treating their customers with above and beyond service.

INSTALLATION: The entire process took only 1.5 weeks from start to finish (deposit made to installation complete). This was especially impressive since we were working between Thanksgiving and Christmas which is typically a very busy time of year. We had 2 different crews come out, one for the laminate and one for the carpet. Sergio & Rick were the 2 guys who came out to do our laminate. They truly blew my mind with how awesome they were!! These 2 guys are extremely respectful, friendly, trustworthy, efficient, and detail-oriented. We felt comfortable leaving them in our house alone to work while we went about our daily business. Confirming the times with us first, they showed up early and stayed late to get the job completed in as few days as possible. It took them only 3 days to install the laminate, which took up the majority of our house! They moved all of the furniture and put everything back - no damages and everything was put back in it's exact original place. We have 2 young kids and Sergio & Rick always made us feel comfortable being in our own home even while they were working and took special precautions to ensure all areas were safe for the kids to still be able to get around. Brian & his son came out to do the carpeting in the kid's bedrooms. They were so fast that I was worried the job wouldn't be completed well-done but I was wrong. Within a few hours they came in, moved the furniture, ripped up the old stuff, put down the new stuff, vacuumed, and replaced all the furniture. It was like I blinked and we suddenly had beautiful new carpet that wasn't there just a moment ago. These guys were also very friendly and comfortable to have in our home.

PRODUCT & PRICING: Back to how knowledgeable Zach is - He can give you information and details about stuff you didn't even know you'd want to know! This guy is very particular in choosing the products he offers - high-quality with a range of prices. You can go top of the line or stay on the lower end and still be pleased with the outcome. We went with the Elements line (color: "Crema Oak") for our laminate - the price was very affordable and the quality didn't disappoint. This is super cool: Zach allows you to take home samples to try in your house. And I don't mean those small square samples that *** and ***'s makes you pay for - I mean large samples, ~3'x3', for FREE to lay out in your house. This made it much easier for us to get a true sense of how the product would look in our home. For the carpet we went with the Milestone line (color: "Big Promotion") and we just love it! It is so plush and soft - I actually enjoy taking my shoes off and walking barefoot in my kid's rooms just because it's so comfy!

In summation, Pelican Floors has exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend them!

Still out 6700$ Zach has only paid me back 500$ in one year. He walked off the job saying he lost enough money. Buyer beware Zach talks a great game. Ask about his insurance, see if his company is bonded. Research his past companies you'll be surprised. (***)

I hired Pelican Floors to install new hardwood and tile after hurricane Irma put water in my condo.

What can I say but that experience was delightful. I love my beautiful new home, and the boys who they sent to install were so nice and did such a wonderful job!

I'm recommending them to anyone who wants to avoid headaches with this sort of thing. I've had one too many bad experiences in the past with contractors.

They even called me after the project to make sure I was happy.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I'll be calling when I get my tax refund to redo my bathroom, thanks!
